It's been at least 5 years since I last visited and I was impressed by the extensive trail network. The children's garden, Lost Hollow, was delightful even for adults! The castle playground was a big hit! You can get a solid walk/hike on the trails and they are well-maintained. Even in the winter, the gardens are nice and relaxing. The orchid conservatory is warm, vibrant, and thriving year-round! I was impressed with the size of their tropical plants - very impressive. It was a nice respite on a chilly December day. We were hoping to grab food at the cafe, but options were limited. Perhaps there are more food options during busier times. Overall, this is a great Charlotte-area day trip and a great place to take out-of-town visitors.

It looks like a ranch style home on the outside, and inside, it has a very big open floor plan. There is a bridal suite and a grooms suite as well. They have a full kitchen with an extra room connected that is filled with all types of decorations that you are allowed to use for your wedding or any event. They have an outside gazebo with an outside bar and firepit. They have plenty of photo op options with beautiful decor. We enjoyed the venue for our wedding (May 2023), and everything turned out beautiful. Kim & Chris definitely work with you on everything and anything to help make your day and the days leading to it run smoothly and easily. Communication was always great, and if I needed something quickly, they would accommodate me swiftly. Such a beautiful venue and exactly what we envisioned for our big day. We loved the separate areas for the bridal party and groomsmen to get ready--it made the day feel relaxed and seamless. One of our favorite touches was being allowed to bury bourbon on the property a month before the wedding as a Southern tradition for good weather. Despite a rainy forecast all week, the tradition worked its magic and our wedding day turned out absolutely beautiful. The venue alone was perfect as there were multiple locations to choose from and we had a designated space for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The ability to use the space the day before was so helpful and Donnie and Nicole provided so many resources in-house that you wouldn't even think of (ice, toiletries, extra tables etc.). The look of the barn makes it so easy to decorate as the space alone is a neutral color and the landscape is beautiful! This property is managed and kept so well. Parking was not an issue as we were there early enough to park right outside the building. There's also a parking garage that's right beside it. I don't know the parking cost. Unfortunately, no one ever opened the doors for the event. A bunch of us had to call customer service to find out the event was cancelled without notifying us. I can't comment on the inside of the building other than what I saw from the doors. The grounds weren't kept well and it was off putting to see trash, people's dirty socks and a homeless persons sleeping arrangement right at the entrance door. I understand people are just doing the best they can but when people are paying for these tickets the area should be clean. Our group decided we won't return to this venue and will look for the show in another area.
