The pool that was advertised on hotels.com
Natasha B.

Stay away from this place. The management is rude and dishonest and it should not be called a resort. I paid $434 for a double room to accommodate myself and four friends for my birthday. The main attraction was the swimming pool shown on Hotels.com's description of Long Cove. We got there only to discover that the pool is still under construction. When I complained about the false advertising, the gentleman at the desk rudely said that he can give me a refund and we can find somewhere else to stay. With three friends on their way in separate cars, I wasn't able to change plans and begrudgingly signed the contract. I was given a parking tag indicating it should be visible in the car or else it would be towed. I asked for two more parking tags, for two friends who were on their way. A third was stopping by for an hour only and so I didn't bother to ask for a tag for her. I figured it was for overnight guests. She arrived late and after a hour went to leave, but her car was impounded. It was too late to reach the towing company, so she used my car to get home. I discovered that it was Long Cove's management that called the towing company. I understand the need to secure the area from non-paying visitors, but the only people who were penalized were paying guests (another guest had his car locked). It was impossible to reach anyone from management as the place is deserted of staff once the office closes at 6pm. This ruined the evening for my party and so we left early in the morning. The place is badly managed and resembles a trailer park and is in no way a resort. I spoke to the management company RedAwning (which reimbursed me $65 for the lack of a pool), as well as Hotels.com whose virtual agent called Long Cove. The manager outright lied in order to avoid granting us a refund. The most blatant lie was that my friend was asked to pay $10 parking but she refused and so her car was towed. She was never approached by anyone to pay for parking. There is no security guard or anyone else monitoring the parking lot. I wish that there was an attendant to help guests make their experience more pleasant. It would have saved my friend the expense of getting her car back for the outrages amount of $445. My friend filed a complaint with the DOJ Consumer Affairs Division and Long Cove's management replied with insults and outright lies, including that I was offered another parking tag at check in but refused it. They falsely claimed that my guest was a visitor and referred to her as "riff raff." They were able to get my honest review on hotels.com removed, so I am concerned that people will be misled by only great reviews that seem to be professionally written by their management company (note the professional photos).

I came to the Fuego festival event in the summer here. It's a nice spot! They have chairs with built-in drink cups facing the lake. They have a mini gazebo and two chairs inside. We also have picnic tables and grills. There's also a beach area. If you're looking for a little bit of R&R, this is a place in the area to drive to to get that. Just be mindful that the resort is at the very end. As soon as you drive onto Rainbarrel road, there's a ways to go just keep driving straight until you reach the parking spaces.

We absolutely love this place! Cabins are very quaint and clean with lots of room to spread out, considering this is a tiny home amenity! Internet was great considering the remote location... We watched a few Netflix movies during our stay, once it loaded (3-4 minutes) it worked perfectly. We will definitely come back for a longer visit!

Long Cove Resort is a glamping community located on an old campground that has been converted to a great space that includes a very nice pool, super cute bathhouse, new community cookout patio, beach area and 15+ glampers. There is also a marina on site that rents boats (15% discount). The glamper we stayed in was new and a perfect layout. The master room had a comfortable mattress. The mattresses in the bunk beds and fouton weren't great. The bathroom linens were thick. The sheets were standard. The decor was super cute and comfortable. The upstairs loft was perfect for the whole group to play cards in. I suggest bringing extra plastic silverware and plates just to be safe. Air conditioner worked perfectly....we were very comfortable. I would absolutely recommend staying in the glampers at Long Cove Resort. There are a few different sizes so be sure to check the listing details to get the best one for your group. They will soon start renting 2br glampers. Also note the resort is close to restaurants, grocery stores, shopping outlets and also the Whitewater Center!

A really beautiful area with close by hikes, a private beach and beautiful lake to swim and canoe and other water activities. Cabins were super clean plenty spacious and the loft upstairs is a gem. Highly recommended!

How far from Matthews NC?

I believe they are about 30 mins from Matthews.

What is the rent?

It varies, they have a few different tiny home cabin layouts. We love Cabin 16 and Cabin 26 but they are all amazing. The prices are listed on their website. https://thecovecabins.guestybookings.com/

Do people live here? Or is it rental only?. Thanks Judy

We would check every time we made our way back home, but they are always BOOKED & BUSY!!!! I'm telling you book ahead of time. Upon arrival, we walk into the front lobby entrance, immediately greeted by the concierge. She directs us to the spa area. We walk inside and the aromatherapy alone just soothes my spirit wholeheartedly. They give a warm welcome and checks us in right away. No time is wasted at all! They give us instructions that we follow accordingly. We go to our separate areas to change out into our spa attire. Again, greeted respectfully and given any and everything we would need for our day of rejuvenation. The entire facility was very clean and organized. Not one thing was out of place! The bathrooms had complimentary hygienes, etc for use. The service requested was the 80 minutes couples massage! Our service was scheduled later on in the evening, but we decided to come hours earlier to enjoy all the complimentary areas in the spa such as the steam rooms, saunas, workout room, whirlpools, pools, patio areas w/ mimosas, etc. If you're going to have a spa day why not experience everything? We ended up on the patio first to have our first complimentary beverage. We sat outside and enjoyed the exquisite views for a while before heading to the jacuzzi for a dip! After 2-3 whirlpool sessions we laid out in the beach chairs inside and ordered food from the Gallery(this is an option that the spa provides all guests). All the workers were spectacular. Any worker that came by they would ask did we need anything and constantly asking would you like a complimentary beverage! Heyyyyyy, why not? Couples Massage: 1000/10 literally! I truly enjoyed the massage thoroughly. The ladies we were given were fabulous. They did exactly what needed to be done! They weren't shy to the touch like some massage therapist are. They were focused and had all their equipment ready to go from the very beginning. We Weill be booking here each and every time we plan a trip home. We are forever clients.

Not planning on returning unless for tea or brunch at gallery. I've now stayed here twice within 10 months. Both times I've found the staff quite kind and helpful. The rooms clean and as depicted. Hotel and grounds very well maintained. Love the walkability to restaurants and bars. Room Beds are not up to a luxury hotel standards. I found both beds to be a springy mattress with a worn out pillow top. Quite literally a pain on the back. Bedding is Frette and quite soft and cozy. Bathroom has Molton Brown products. Super bougie brand so I think that is on par with the hotel being luxury. I bring my own shampoo and conditioner because of my 3A curly hair doesn't get along with the shampoo and conditioner. Both the water pressure and hot levels are exceptional. I was not lacking warm water and did actually turn it a bit cooler than my usual setting at home. So I've a bit of a bone to pick on the minibar. There is a listed price for all the items. Great! Was a bit surprised on the bill to find the $3 can of soda and $18 container of dark sea salt chocolates to be listed as $3.99 and $22.41. That's more than the sales tax in Mecklenburg. Upon reading the fine print on the minibar there is a 24% service fee on top of the 8.25% sales tax. Given that the minibar is stocked and no one is running this items to the room like room service, I'm a bit confused on the service charge as anything but a small additional little money grab. Little sneaky and tacky vibes about it. Gallery restaurant I have written a separate 5 star review and very much so like the restaurant. Afternoon tea Afternoon tea I absolutely love and greatly enjoy. Lovely tea and tiered plate selections. This is a must for me, absolutely love it. I've attended with my partner as well as solo. Solo I sat and read a book it was great! Even if traveling solo still a lovely nice experience! Parking I think the price of parking has changed. It is now $20 to self park and $30 to valet. This is all clear on the app and website before booking. Spouse was understandably less than thrilled when he walked out to the car with all our luggage, loaded the car and began to drive to the hotel to pick me up only to be locked into the parking lot. The room key card that opens this parking was deactivated apparently at check out time. Well no one wants to be schlepping around in muggy hot weather at noon to come back to the hotel and find out why it isn't working. He had to have the card reactivated, then walk back to the car, then bring the car up. Waste of time and irritation. Hotel common space I found all common and public spaces clean and tidy. Both elevators have been working, in good service and clean. There is a complimentary coffee and tea station in the bar space in the morning. They also have some grab and go items for purchase. I made tea and drank it on the veranda. None of the grab and go items spoke to me so I went to the gallery restaurant. Spa I've been to the spa last trip and enjoyed my facial and massage. Mani pedi was ok... women's spa space has a sauna and steam room. A quiet waiting area with teas and water. Showers, restrooms and a locker space. Indoor pool Love that they have an indoor and outdoor pool. Super easy for me to get burned so I use the indoor ones. The interior space is quite lovely at the interior pool. A few notes of items needing attention. The rectangular hot tub has quite a thick layer of scrum on the tiles above the water level. Requested additional pillows when checking in ahead of time on the app. Those were not in the room and I had to request them. If you want a tea kettle in room you've to request that and tea. Wish it was easier in app or pre check in to do. I am not sure that we will be back anytime soon as I don't find their beds comfy and relaxing. Hotel, amenities, afternoon tea and brunch overall I like. I wish they would join other properties that had a memory foam type bed with a more firm supportive with slats. Rather than springy mattress on a box spring.

So I will try not to compare the two and just review this location, but there may be some comparisons. Pros: 1. Magiquest: this was definitely my girls favorite thing as Poconos only has one game. Here they have several different types of magiquest, so this consumed most of their time! I had a slightly hard time figuring it out but my husband and older daughter figured it out quick. One of the standouts here!! 2. VR and laser tag. My kids LOVED this especially the VR. And they have games for all levels. 3. Staff: while at times it didnt seem there was enough staff, the ones we dealt with, were so friendly and helpful. 4. Pool: Not comparing it to the Poconos, the water park was fun and the girls loved the outside pool 5. Location: if you dont want to spend money on food and snacks there...there is everything nearby! You cannot beat the location! Cons: 1. Water Park: So while it is great: it is small!! My older daughter did get a little bored after a while and due to limited staff, one worker would often be working TWO slides making lines move extremely slow. By it was still fun. 2. It wouldn't be a review if I didn't mention the food. And it is RESORT food not a 4 star restaurant, so I get it. The food in the water park is fine-not fancy but spendy of course. The buffet was my least favorite thing about this resort. Almost $100 for a family of four and the food was not great and the variety was very limited. My kids ate less then half a plate and I was done after half my meal. And drinks were NOT included which blew my mind. We did not go back and ate out after this meal. 3. VR and laser tag: while my kids loved it, their scheduling stinks. It is first come first serve, so we went twice and it was a 2+ hour wait. So they put your name down and call you when it is your turn, it is not a reserved time. So you are kind of wandering around waiting for your number to be called. We were nervous about going to water park in case they called us. And then once u start the VR, it is only nine minutes long!! And it takes almost five minutes to figure out what the heck to do!! And it was $50 for a family of four for nine minutes! 4.Missing parents: as the night goes on, it is a free for all with kids. Idk where the parents are...but it was 10 pm and kids were racing around doing magic quest and shouting and not a parent in sight. I understand this place is for kids....but it amazed me the kids I saw running around alone 5. Avoid arcade if you can!! We always get sucked in and hundreds of dollars later, I have bags full of crap from the tickets they won that I throw in the garbage a week later. Games are SUPER expensive!! And cost!!! Everything is expensive and there are always charges I cant explain on our bill but after going to GWL for years...I have learned to accept them and move on! You cannot get a hold of a physical person concerning your bill and you will never see money back if they over charged you!! Needless to say: if we come back to North Carolina, my girls would like to come back to this location. They had a blast and we made good memories!!

Water park's drain was barely draining (black sludge), food and trash was pretty consistent throughout the indoor part. Outdoor pool was opened this time and so much cleaner and quieter. Food is overly expensive for park quality. Plenty of options all around so we opted to skip the breakfast buffet to save money. We did $50 meal plan to save money and that got us a pizza, a pasta dish, & one bottled lemonade for family of 4. Was looking for a quiet place for business center (like most of hotels) and was informed to use the 4th floor lobby area that overlooked the water park by several staff members as a quiet space for some critical meetings. The area was definitely less traffic but two huge screens that pipes noise throughout was not ideal. No power outlet at all. I understand it's a family park but a business center room would have been nice. I ended up plugging into an outdoor outlet between indoor water park and rope course and pulling up two patio chair (not ergonomic at all). Kids and family hung around yelling during my meetings while they were waiting on members from rope course. Lost my water bottle, filed report, and checked 3x day but no success. After checking and already on the way home I got call and still waiting on them to ship it. Housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful. Lifeguard staff wasn't and very understaffed, irritated at kids running wild (where are the parents). Entertainment schedule was very good and variety of options. I hope staffing and cleanliness will improve and looking forward to a business center and fitness center as well!

I had a confirmed reservation, completed check in earlier in the day through the Hilton Honors app (I am a Hilton gold member), and even selected my room in advance. By the time I arrived at 1130 pm, exhausted and emotionally drained, I had every reason to believe my room was secured. Instead, I was told the hotel was oversold and had no rooms available. What happened next was beyond disappointing. The front desk attendant was incredibly cold, dismissive, and outright rude. He claimed a manager had called me to notify me of the issue, which was simply not true. When I asked what I was supposed to do, I was told, in a tone that made it clear he did not care, that it was not his problem. There was no attempt to help, no effort to find alternative accommodations, and no sense of urgency despite the late hour and the fact that the city was fully booked. Instead he watched as my sister and I sobbed and panicked in the lobby for an hour without so much as a sorry. I was left stranded in the middle of the night with nowhere to go. Every hotel in the area was sold out. We ended up sleeping in my car. To make matters worse, I was in town because my father had just passed away. This was not a routine trip. In a moment where even basic human empathy would have gone a long way, I was met with indifference, coldness, and irritation. Mistakes happen. But how a hotel handles it is what matters, and in this case, it was handled with a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic human decency. If you are considering staying here, understand that even with a confirmed reservation, advance check in, and a room selected, you may still not have a room when you arrive--and if something goes wrong, you should not expect help from the staff or the manager. Staff is a 12 out of 10. Valet super nice and helpful, check in and front desk staff always efficient and a delight to deal with same for housekeepers or any other staff we met along the way. This is the only hotel I have stayed at in the States that I think their bathroom is about comparable to ours at home. There is a separate space for the commode which offers some nice privacy if 2 are sharing the room. Housekeepers were adorable they placed out toiletries on emerald green cloths on the counter I truly believe the prettiest place in Charlotte to see the sun rise is at the indoor pool and spa area. It is gorgeous. Love that the pool area is more spa pool vibes with spa music. Hot tub is turned on by a button panel on the wall. Inside the hot tub there is a place to turn up or down the intensity of the jets. The hot tub has pretty colors in it from the underwater lighting. There is a great array of seating without feeling crowded. Meticulously cleaned. Like any time of day the indoor pool space was clean. I do like what they use instead of chlorine it was more gentle on my hair and skin. TV is a bit below average. Streaming speed is pretty slow. Limited on which streaming services that can be accessed. Additionally, the volume jumps a lot like the tv can be unable to be heard you turn the volume up and it is good. Then a second later it is super loud. Spouse said most modern tvs have an auto feature that manages this. But this is on Marriott and not the hotel as with some research it showed this is a pretty common issue most folks have about the tvs. We are buying a Roku stick to try and use in the future to access other streaming services we pay for at home. The beds are better than other hotels in the Marriott family but spouse and I still find them a bit uncomfortable. I would like to have them a more memory foam material than the spring with pillow top. Wardrobe was awesome it is a nice size. Lights up when the doors are opened and has a pretty floral scape along the back of it. I was able to keep my carry on sized suitcase in there. Spouse was able to hand my dress and his sports coat and pants for event we were going to. Room had plenty of counter space in the room and bathroom. This was great. Oddly there seemed to be drums that started playing outside at like 9am on Saturday that woke us both up. There was a wedding going on that weekend and I know they had some breakfasts not sure if there was maybe a morning ceremony too? Noise didn't last super long but woke us both up. The windows you can hear a fair amount of noise through from the street. Ordered room service I think 3 times. Very excellent experience each and every time. Each item was cooked perfectly and things like grilled chicken breast were still juicy and not overcooked. My K Lounge review will be separate from hotel but same 5/5. We enjoyed our stay.
