I had surgery at St Joseph's Hospital on 10/6/25, 10/8/25, and 2/10/26…read more In October 2025, I had 2 surgeries on my spine to remove 2 separate 4 cm tumors that were located on my spine and within the nerves near my spinal column. I spent the week in the hospital & went home the following Saturday. Surgery went GREAT! My neurosurgeon, Dr. Jay Turner, is awesome. The anesthesiologist made me feel very comfortable prior to the surgery and the pre-op doctor, nurses, office staff were great. My nurses during my stay were great, along with PT, OT, sanitation staff, food services, and all doctors and students that came to see me were pleasant and cared for me and their work. I then had brain surgery at St Joseph's Hospital on 2/10/25, to remove a 3.5 cm tumor. My neurosurgeon, Dr. Andrew Little is awesome! I had complications during the surgery and my brain began swelling. Dr Little had to stop the surgery immediately and make my skull pieces fit back together with my swollen brain. My incision is much larger and the skull fracture much larger and not flat but with a bump. Thankfully I no longer have most side effects. I woke without being able to control my left side and with blurred vision. My speech was difficult and my memory was not good. Within the next 1 to 2 days, most things returned to normal when the swelling of my brain went down. I went home within 5 days. Everyone I interacted with was great! I had a lot of pain but as long as I spoke up when the pain began, I would get relief very quickly. My nurses were very responsive. St Joseph's is a great hospital. They are short staffed but which hospital isn't. You have to make sure to ask for assistance when you need it. I recomend St Joseph's Hospital and their nuerosurgury dept.

This hospital is considered to be a very good hospital by others and I support this position…read more The doctors are what they are; but the nurses, techs, service personnel and those most related to the betterment of the sick have been terrific. From the check-in desk to discharged or a simple doctor appointment, the system works okay. As I become a senior, those issues become more important.

I am writing here to give my 2 cents and some advice. Do not go with United health care. my problem…read morestarted in 2024 when i went to the dentist and found out that I needed some teeth pulled and a temp bridge put in. Needed time for the swelling to go done. in 2025 I went back and refitted me for a permanent Bridge .So far no problem untill i received a letter from the dentist that i owed them $$ . I contacted them and they said the insurance denied them and that I must paid or they will file a refusal of payment. Now the fun part , calling United Health Care. Oh that's not us let me switch you over to the dentist department. Gave them my information and they said ok we see you but we can't see the denial , that's another dept. Back to the first dept and they said it looks like the Dentist put in the wrong code. You must call the Dentist and get the correct code and grievance the denail. Dentist. we gave in the right codes, the first was for a temp and the second is for the permanent. Called back UHC and they said o I see , ok will forard this over. Waited and no response. Called back UHC (and you know I get a different person every time and have to start from the start )and asked what's the story , gave my information and had to start from the beginning again. They said I needed to also send in a request so I started aging righting the story again and fax it to Office and received a confirmation. Waited and nothing. So call UHC and started over with the information and said I was waiting for a response. They looked in notes and see no fax or request. So I repeated the story 3-5 more times and they typed it all in and said they will forward it on and to wait for a response. 2026 and I get a notice of it timing out for the 65 days you get to respond. I call UHC and start from the beginning and go back and forth. The day ended and so did the phone call. The next day I called UHC and started form the start , she said she needed to get someone else on the phone for more information and started from the start. The new person said she could put the request again but doesn't think it will have and just get denied . I said lets do it any way. I pick up the mail and see a letter from guess who-UHC. Open it up and see it saying they were trying to get it touch we me and that the email was returned. Called UHC and gave my information. Started from the beginning again and he said to hold on. Came back and said my request will most likely get denied again and said I can request a outside to exam the case. Then he went on and said that UHC sees a temp and a permanent bridge as the same and will turn down any request as this is there policy. Then have a nice day and good luck. So the bottom line is they will never pay for a permanent bridge after a temp. And as everyone knows when you get teeth pulled you need to wait 6months or more for the swelling to go down. So you need temps for that time. Rich C

I truly hate United Healthcare (UHC), and it is routinely a headache to advocate to cover…read moremedications, a procedure, and recently, an MRI to monitor a tumor I have. Wouldn't you want to maintain scans to avoid cancer?! It would be a lot more to cover then... If you have a choice in insurance, stay far away from UHC. Baffles me how much both my employer and I pay to not have things covered without a fight.
