We've been looking for an apartment in the Somerville area for about 1.5 months and were getting no responses from properties and brokers. We were becoming tired of the whole run around process and never hearing back, especially because we had what most brokers tried to push as a lower price point saying nothing was available in the area for that much. (We currently lived in a place less than what we wanted). While taking a stroll in another neighborhood in Somerville, we randomly pulled up the Zillow app and found out the location we were standing right in front of had a new unit available in the same time frame and price point we were looking for. It actually seemed too good to be true. We called right away and Ranjita got back to us immediately. We rattled off the list of questions we had about the place and she was able to give us answers right away and she promised to get back to us about the answers she didn't (which she did that night). I'm the paranoid one of the two and had /many/ more questions. It's crazy to think we were going to sign a lease at a new apartment we had never been to (thus is the times of covid and my fear of scams was elevated). Ranjita returned with more pictures and a great video walk-through. I was still nervous. She happily provided me with proof of identification and broker's license. She gave us the option to pay by credit card which made me feel safer about my personal funds. She got us the lease working with property management. This always takes time as the broker acts as the go-between and she did her best to get us the papers we needed. When I had a few questions or asked if we could change items on the lease, she listened, was helpful, and reassured me I wasn't annoying her with so many questions (I probably was, but she was nice enough to act like I wasn't ha). She was able to get us in to view the apartment after the previous tenants move out, so at least we were able to see it before move-in day. Quick process overall. Very responsive to emails. Easier than we thought it would be. read more

Responsive, until you run into issues. We were not refunded 100$ application fee, and we only applied because Cambridge Premier Realty failed to communicate all the details of the unit. Ranjita then ignored my email requesting the refund. We applied to the unit in part because it said "cats allowed" in all online listings (see photo attached for example). We were upfront throughout the process that we were about to get a cat. During the showing, a no-pet policy was never mentioned. We were encouraged to apply, and then after we paid the application fee, all of a sudden we were told that the owner of the unit would not consider any pets and the listings were then all updated to "cats not allowed," which seems very misleading. At its worst, it is a malicious "bait and switch" strategy... at its best it's very negligent and disorganized. Just be careful when applying. We were referred to Cambridge Premier Realty by a friend, but we will not be referring them to other friends of ours. read more

I had several issues with them, which I'll outline below. 1. Poor Communication: Contacted them about several apartments. Different agents for each unit I found online either at Craigslist or PadMapper. Had to have an extensive back an forth with multiple different agents before I was able to set up a showing. Even when I had a showing confirmed, the agent I was finally able to work with wasn't good about confirming appointment times. Had to repeatedly reschedule and reach out to her each time before an appointment to confirm if it was actually happening. There were times where I ended up being able to schedule showings for the same apartments through a different agency that was a lot more professional and responsive. After repeatedly experiencing no follow up from one particular company, you'll just end up avoiding all their listings. 2. Irresponsible handling: Original broker I had scheduled with on day of showing, pawned me off last minute to another broker saying he would be showing in her place. The guy she handed me off to, was already someone I knew who I had reached out to several times and had pointless back and forth with about other units. In the end he never got back to me, and I just started avoiding asking about any units he was listed as the main contact. Guy was late on day of showing and lied about being outside on the phone to me. He kept saying he was standing outside and that I wasn't there. While still on the phone with him and having this back and forth I see him through the glass door running down the stairs. Upon meeting me says nothing more than oh you're actually here. Didn't understand his need to lie, could've easily just said I'll be there soon instead of trying to tell me I'm not in the right place. 3. Unclear information and false advertising: Made me sign a fee disclosure form right away before the showing. Which is all fine, but communicating about the form was hard and had a lot of back and forth about what this was for. Also the actual unit I saw did not match the one I had specifically reached out about. There were additional costs I had asked about for utilities that didn't match, overall rental cost was different. When I asked if it was the same unit they tried to say it was, when very clearly didn't match the listing information at all. They also blatantly take postings from either apartment complex websites and other brokers/listings online and try to repost. Because they do this they aren't able to set up any showing for you and theres unnecessary back and forth. In the case with apartment complex websites - they would normally not have a broker fee, but they list the units anyways and charge a broker fee on top of it. 4. Extremely pushy: When showing was done, I needed to leave right away due to going during my lunch break in the middle of the day. They were extremely pushy and kept trying to get me to stay. I explained that I wasn't interested in this particular unit from what I had seen and that I'd be in touch later. They would not take no for an answer, and made the whole situation uncomfortable. Overall if you are looking for apartments through craigslist / pad mapper I would avoid them if possible. Communication is lackluster and inaccurate. They definitely perpetuate false advertising to try to hook you in. I would be wary of trying to do any business with them. read more

Our realtor Fatima Carpio Castro was WONDERFUL to work with, she was very responsive to emails and even advocated for us when the landlord tried to raise the rent on the lease after we had submitted our application. She answered every one of our questions, even when we asked them late in the evening. That is AMAZING customer service! Ana showed us around the house and thoughtfully provided us with gloves before the tour started. Contacted a broker at this agency about a listing and received a response within an hour asking what times we were available to view the property the next day. For that you get your one star. We responded immediately with a range of three hours that would work. We then did not hear back from the broker for five hours, and when we did, we received a, "let me get back to you". Well, we never heard back and our window of opportunity to view the apartment, as well as our patience with this broker, came and went. Renters in the Boston area have it hard enough, so if you have to shell out a $2,000+ brokerage fee, at least give it to an agency willing to do a modicum of work to earn it. read more

NEVER USE THIS REALTY COMPANY. First off, the realtor never showed up for our first showing. We had confirmed the time multiple days beforehand. Second, there was extremely slow communication the entire process of the lease. The realtor would say we will have this finished tomorrow, tomorrow would come... Silence. We would check-in, and they would just keep pushing it back. Third, we agreed to terms in WRITING come to find out she never added them to our lease 8 MONTHS LATER. I forgave the first two, however, now that I am screwed over when going through lease renewal... I am not! I wish I could give 0 stars. Never give them your money. read more

We rented an apartment through Cambridge Premier Realty and while the original experience went well, we later found out that some information we'd been given when asking about various provisions in the lease was incorrect. Either the real estate agent didn't know the lease and just made up answer to our questions or she intentionally lied to us, likely in hopes we would quickly sign the lease. Unfortunately, we did not get these answers in writing (a mistake we will not make in the future) and when we brought this up to the real estate agency and asked them to take responsibility for the errors and related costs, they refused, claiming that we were never given inaccurate information. We were very lucky that our landlord was willing to work with us, but that will not be the case for everyone. We feel this company gives a bad name to the real estate industry and we encourage others to stay clear of them. read more

Tried to simply view an apartment. Well, they first told me okay, and there's other apartments nearby that they can show us too. So we set the time aside that we could have used for other viewings. Then, we were emailed and told the place we wanted was not available, but another place was, but we had to be there 15 minutes earlier. Then, they gave us the wrong address for the second apartment! Not sure how the broker's assistant found us in front of the wrong place, but his name is Ben and i hope he finds a job with a better company. He was as helpful as possible under the circumstances, the exact opposite of his boss. After Ben showed us the place they actually had, he had no idea about the other places we were told we were going to be shown. So i called and asked about it and his boss only got more and more infuriating. She straight up told me that she didn't get the address wrong when i have an email that proves she did. She accused me of treating her like a child while talking over me and treating me like her subordinate, not a customer. Dealing with this broker was not worth the good deal on the apartment. Plus, they claim they get to charge you a broker fee if you just complete an application. You don't even have to get a place with them to owe them thousands, apparently. I have been in town two days, but have already learned to avoid this company. read more

This realtor contacted me, I told them clearly that I was NOT interested in using an agent to rent my place but that they were welcome to bring their clients to see the place. Then the STOLE my listing, put their name on it, and posted on Zillow as if it was their listing. This is completely unethical and illegal, and could cost them their license!!! read more
