Lisa Santana was friendly, thorough, and super-helpful. She got us a GREAT price on our condo (we were selling), and an agressive closing date, which we needed. I highly recommend Lisa. read more

Their realtor Sarah Martin had published a rental ad of my apartment with her as listing agent. As the building owner - this is news to us as I've never met her? I've called both her and her office to take down the listing and despite some empty promises nothing was done. Stay away from this business who obviously ok with having fraudulent listings to get business. read more

As renters, we had to deal with one of their agents Sarah Martin, as she was showing our apartment to potential renters. She is rude, unprofessional, and I suspect she lied to us. She kept telling me that she couldn't contact me using my phone number, but I was able to contact and be contacted by everyone else. We had three visits with her. Because we have a cat in the apartment, we wanted to be there during the visit, which is not a huge requirement. She agreed to it prior. The first visit went ok, although she arrived 5 minutes early and somehow left before coming back, and did not give us a 24h notice. During the second visit, she said she could not receive my messages and supposedly I did not receive hers. She warned my partner 5 minutes before the visit, and I arrived while they were still visiting the apartment. I asked to sort out her problem contacting me but she said she didn't have time. I gave her my email, that she used to book the third visit, again with less than 24 hours notice. For the first visit, she arrived earlier than announced, and finished the visit before I came, all without contacting me to mention she was there. I waited for 20 minutes at the apartment after contacting her by email before receiving a message saying they had already left. No apologies, nothing. She told my partner I didn't have to be there during the visit. Overall she gave me the impression that she didn't want us to be there during the visit and was trying to be sneaky about it, instead of telling us. The two stars instead of 1 is because her manager made her stop the visits at our apartment after I contacted him. He didn't apologize in any way though, so I'm being nice here. We had no issues with the other real estate companies that showed our apartment. If I was you I would not use their agency, there are plenty of good ones around. read more

Remember this name when dealing with Remax in Ecuador, Cuenca. The name of Lorena Arias. Unethical, unprofessional, untrustworthy are words associated with Lorena. She was delegated the responsibility to sign a contract, post pictures and finalize a contract. Non of which took place. Never gave me the link to see the listing. When I found on my own the listing I learn that my property was listed at a different town and for 10 thousand dollar less than the price I agree to. I was given the opportunity to take my business someplace else after Remax Destiny and Lorena Arias failed me miserably. read more

Disrespectful agents with poor communication skills. I'm sure they show an entirely different face to the clients who they might earn a commission from, but pay attention to how they treat people from whom they stand to gain nothing. My partner and I are moving out of our Somerville apartment in late May, and our landlord provided our contact information and a key to RE/MAX Destiny to arrange showings. In February, their agent Sarah Martin reached out on a Friday night asking if the unit could be shown the following afternoon at 1:30 pm (less than 24 hours notice). We saw the email that Saturday morning and replied promptly that that time would not work for us. At 1:20 pm, Sarah unlocked our front door and let herself into our apartment anyway with clients in tow. This means she either did not bother checking her email to look for an affirmative response, or saw and chose to ignore our negative response in the interest of gaining a commission. When we told her to leave, she blamed us and stated "this wouldn't have happened if you had given me your phone number" - which she hadn't asked for, and which had no bearing on the situation at all. We reported this issue to the head of ReMax Destiny who said he would look into it and get back to us. Guess who we never heard from again? The rot starts at the top in this place. Last week another Destiny agent, Tim Stein, reached out to ask if he could show the unit sometime during the week. We arranged for him to come on Friday between 6-6:30 pm. He never showed up, and never sent a courtesy text or email to let us know the appointment was cancelled, and didn't even deign to respond when we reached out. Disrupting our packing to tidy up the apartment for the showing was a total waste of time. Best believe if anyone else from this company wants to schedule another showing before we move out, they will be shown the unit AS IS that day. Things happen, but just communicate! If you sent an email asking for an appointment, check for a response before assuming your proposed schedule will work. If something changes, keep all parties informed. It's not rocket science, it's basic decent behavior. There seems to be a real problem with how renters are treated by this company. Classist as hell. We won't be renters forever, and when we buy we won't consider working with any RE/MAX branch and are advising our friends to avoid them due to the low standards of professionalism demonstrated by this one. In summary - if you are a renter and they are showing your apartment, be prepared for them to trespass into your home even if you say no, and if you make an appointment, be prepared for a no-show. read more

Hired Patti Reilly to sell our one bedroom in Somerville. She priced the place wrong, which is an honest mistake. After two weeks of open houses with diminishing foot traffic, I asked her what she was doing beyond posting our unit on Zillow, Redfin etc and holding open houses to try to sell the place. Patti responded by saying that is "all she does" for her sales. I think that summarizes the experience. She displayed zero hustle for someone who works in an industry where hustle is the name of the game. The kicker for all of this is that after asking her this question she subsequently bailed on me and my pregnant wife because she felt like things weren't working out. Leaving us with a stale listing (in the sense that places like ours tend not to sit for more than a week in Somerville) and no real estate agent. The unit sold after four days with a different agent. You have a choice in this process. Go with the people that will put in hard work to earn the commission. read more

We love Cambridge, but when it was time for us to pack our stuff and prepare for a big move to DC, I called Marius Gallitano again. He was my buyer's agent in 2004 when I moved into my place, and now he's my seller's agent. I never thought I would say this but Marius is even more awesome than he was when I first met him-- he absolutely knows his stuff -- he explains every step of the process in a way that's totally accessible and helpful, he's unbelievably organized, he's so enthusiastic (when we got an offer that was lower than we wanted, he kept saying "don't get down about it. Something better will come along."),and he's an absolute pleasure to work with. All of this to say, moving stinks. It's tiring and stressful and awful. Marius makes the buying (and the selling) as painless, straight-forward, easy, and -- dare I say it -- fun as humanly possible. read more

Having rented some places in Cambridge through this Re/Max office in the past, I figured they may be able to assist in my search for a property to purchase in the city of Cambridge. The realtor I had dealt with in the past had moved on, so pretty much based solely on the recommendation of Jennifer N.(below) I contacted Marius Gallitano (http://www.gallitano.com/). If I could, I'd send Jennifer N. a bottle of champagne cause working with Marius as my buyer agent was exactly what I hoped for when looking for a realtor. Being a first time buyer, I had little knowledge of the process for purchasing property. The first thing Marius did was give me a crash course in real estate and he was very thorough in answering every question/concern I could dream up. More importantly, he was very reassuring that what appeared to be an overwhelming process, wasn't actually that bad at all. Immediately after giving Marius an idea of the type of place I wanted and in the areas I was looking in, he took full control of the buying process. That day I had a list of properties in my email to review and days later we were out looking at places that he felt were a good fit for what I looking for. With every place we saw, Marius quickly gained a perspective for what I did and did not like in a property. He used this knowledge to fine tuned the condos we visited and fairly quickly I found a place I liked and began the bidding process. To say the least, Marius made the journey from initial bid to P&S to closing extremely easy for me and was consistently on the ball with addressing anything and everything that came up throughout the buying process. Not once did I feel he wasn't fulling his responsibilities. Even after I closed on my property a month or so ago, Marius has continuously remained in contact with me to ensure anything that may have came up was addressed according. The bottom line is, Marius is great at what he does and is super easy to work with. Without a doubt, I would highly recommend working with him if you're looking for property in the Boston area. read more

Had a very negative interaction with Robert K. Scott. Response was very rude (literally said "Yes, there is a broker fee. Do you get paid in your job? Deal breaker" and "So I should list the apartment, pay for all the advertising, show you the apartment, pay for the video, do the listing, run your application and credit without getting paid?" in reply to my message of "Great, thanks! I'll show my roommate and we'll discuss. One more questions: is there a broker fee? That's been kind of a deal breaker for us. Thanks!") when I asked if the broker fee was to the tenant or landlord when inquiring about a property. Honestly, get paid by the person who hired you and don't take whatever frustrations you have out on possible renters. I'd recommend anyone else honestly. read more

My agent, Liz, was great to work with when we were selling our condo and moving out of state. She took care of some crazy repair issues (the upstairs neighbors neglected to replace their water heater and it exploded), staged the place for us, and really went above and beyond what I've seen most agents do, in general. :) We loved her so much that we used her again as a rental agent when we moved back to the city. When we start looking for a home again, I know which agent I'm going with. read more

Anne Munson of RE/MAX Destiny in Central Sq. recently helped us buy our first home. Thanks to her the process was incredibly easy and absolutely painless. If you're looking to buy in the Cambridge/Somerville area, you should definitely go to RE/MAX. read more

There are so many real estate agents out there and it's hard to find someone you can truly rely on and trust. Two years ago, we needed to sell our condo in Arlington, MA and we couldn't be happier with the help we received from David Hariri of Re/Max Destiny, Cambridge. He walked us through the entire process, advised us on how to sell the property for top value, and was able to bring in lots of buyer interests. We sold our condo in just a few months. When it came time to purchasing our first single family house, we contacted David again for his help. Again David made it a great experience. We are very picky buyers, he was extremely patient with us and he was never pushy at all. He cared more about us being happy with our new house than just making a sale. And when we found the right house finally, he gave us very good advice on the negotiation process using his professional knowledge of up-to-date market values. We felt like we were in good hands because of him! We highly recommend David Hariri to anyone who is looking to buy or sell a property! read more

Marius helped me on my search as a first time home buyer. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted at first and he was able to suggest and show me many types of housing options in various cities in and near Cambridge. He has a GREAT upbeat personality and was always ready when I was to view the various possibilities. It was a pleasure to have such a positive agent during the in's and out's of the real estate journey which can be stressful. Because of Marius, I never felt that stress. Without a doubt, I would recommend Marius for any real estate need you might have. read more

My boyfriend and I were looking for a new apartment in Cambridge this past spring. We responded to a lot of ads and met with a handful of unreliable agents before coming to REMAX/DESTINY and meeting our agent Jim O'Loughlin. Jim has been a wonderful agent throughout the entire process. He took a lot of his own personal time to help us answer questions and resolve any concerns we had to ensure we were perfectly happy with our new apartment. He is prompt, knowledgeable and extremely reliable. I can honestly say that Jim is the best agent I've ever worked with in all the time I've lived in the city. I would highly recommend using Jim to find your next home whether you are renting or buying. If I ever need an agent again in the future, I'll know who to call! read more

I've used Marius twice now - once buying our condo and again four years later when selling our condo. His friendly professionalism was so memorable, four years later, I wouldn't work with anyone else. He had our trust. And boy did he kill it for us. He knew the exact selling psychology that would get us the highest price and it worked out beyond our expectations. He always went above and beyond to make sure the paperwork and inspections went smoothly. He always took the time to walk me through the details. His approach is polished and thoughtful. He was an absolute pleasure to work with. I recommend him so highly and hope to use him again in the future! read more

Paul Turcotte, the owner of RE Max was very helpful to help resolve an issue we had with one of their agents. He handled the entire situation in a caring and professional way, he then assigned to us a new broker we had dealt with in the past (John Takvorian). John was a laid back, helpful agent who made sure everything ends up smoothly. Sarah read more

Looking for a new house or condo? Get a hold of Patti Reilly at ReMax Destiny. I am a lucky and completely happy new owner - thanks to Patti. She is the person to have by your side when looking for real estate. She is up to the minute about the local market, is wonderfully calm, upbeat, and sensible throughout a sometimes stressful process, and is an effective and savvy advisor when it comes to the purchase and sale. And there's more! Once the inspection is over, Patti turns into the resource person from heaven: she knows contractors, repair folks, you name it. She stays with you until that new purchase is fully and really the home you hoped for. If you are thinking about buying, call her. She will help make it happen. read more

Tom Sheehan is the best realtor I have ever worked with, hands down. He is knowledgeable, friendly without being in-your-face, and he has steered me away from properties that he felt would not be the safest investment (and he therefore walked away from possible commission). I have never trusted a realtor so much. Tom really wants what is best for his clients. I haven't been successful yet with an actual purchase, but that is a product of this crazy sellers' market. Tom has helped me make some very aggressive offers with short time frames. But he has always stopped short of allowing me to take crazy risks or let my emotions blur good judgment. When I recently had to back out of an accepted offer, Tom was as kind as he could be. I cannot recommend him strongly enough. read more

This is specifically a review for Lisa Santana. My wife and I interviewed the five most highly-rated realtors in the area, and at the end of the day, we are extremely grateful that we chose to work with Lisa. During the interviews, we asked for market studies from each of them for our place in Cambridge. The process was very daunting, and through our discussions with the realtors we felt like the other "big players" in the area were intending to sell low and fast so they could keep their stat lines high in a depressed economy. Lisa, on the other hand, understood we needed to sell quickly, but understood the market area and specific nuances of the particular neighborhoods. She was willing to commit to the hard work it actually takes to sell a house - doing all the legwork and making it to countless showings. She didn't rely on a lockbox to do all the work. Other realtors seemed to think if you put photos and videos up on the web the house will sell itself. Lisa worked relentlessly... and sometime after three weeks our place was under agreement. Somehow, she first managed to instigate a small bidding war between two interested buyers. This was all during summer 2011 - one of the worst housing slumps in our recent history. She continued to serve and guide us through the entire process - inspections, negotiations, and eventually the closing. Selling your house is a stressful event, and I have to admit I had a few breakdowns in the process. Lisa responded to my tantrums with nothing but professionalism, patience, and a positive attitude that moved us forward. We highly recommend Lisa to anyone looking for a great realtor. She is truly the best of the best. read more

my agent Tom S. was the best. He found me a great place and put up with my crazy family.

I am proud to say that RE/MAX Destiny's Dennis Joseph introduced my wife and I to our first home in Cambridge! We were very happy with his expertise, professionalism, and knowledge of the area. Dennis is honest, responsive, and his great sense of humor really makes the buying process a breeze. We would highly recommend working with Dennis in the future, whether you are buying or selling a home in Boston! read more

Eithne Johnson, Best realtor I have ever worked with, speaking from personal and professional experience. She laid out the process at the beginning and along the way, staying on top of every part of the process to make sure things keep on track. If she needed to step in and make something happen, she did. Her strategy for what to do with the house prior to sale was spot on and the house sold for more than I expected, three offers within 24 hours all over asking. And, after the A+ on handling the business, she also seemed to show up with a smile, and even lunch, when we were in the throws of packing to get out. Just fantastic. Can't recommend her more highly. read more

I whole heartedly recommend RE/MAX Destiny and in particular, my agent Ed Abrams to handle any real estate transactions one might be considering. We used Tim Schmidt to help our daughter find an apartment in Cambridge and I can't say enough good things about him. He was friendly without being pushy and also had the best selection of apartments we had seen (we had previously been out with a broker from another realty company). He listened carefully to what we wanted and everything he showed us fit the bill. When the apartment we wanted fell through (through no fault of his -- the landlord was away and hadn't yet taken the apartment off the market after he rented it) Tim found us another in the same building. All this was accomplished in two hour long visits (we live out of town so we appreciated Tim's efficiency). All in all, we couldn't be happier. read more
