My wife and I wanted to go on a 4 day getaway, so we chose the Cambria Hotel for our stay. We arrived for an early check in and found the hotel clean on the outside with a decent lobby. However, the woman at the front gave my wife a much higher total than what we had reserved it for. (Our online reservation price should have been a little over $500 - due to an extra night), but she had told my wife $700. My wife re-stated how much we reserved the room and the woman gave a "discount", which did not impact the price by much.
Our room looked clean, but there were a few strands of hair near the bed. After a some prerequisite cleaning, we tried to relax. The bed was extremely firm, uncomfortable and unforgiving. No matter what position we chose, we could not find a comfortable spot on it.
We tried to get rest after exploring part of the area, but heard a lot of car engines revving. Turns out, there was a car show for the weekend, but most of the drivers arrived in Pigeon Forge early. They continued revving from a nearby parking lot, which brings me to my next problem: The Windows. If you are paying for a luxury price for a fairly new building, the windows should be somewhat soundproof/absorbent. We heard every rev and squeal until 2am, after calling the police. We also called Cambria's front desk regarding this issue, but was unsure if they called. This continued about 3 days, which caused us not to stay an extra night as we had planned.
The other problem regarding the Cambria is breakfast. Breakfast is $10.00 a person and after paying the price we did for staying in a room where you can hear all the outside commotions, this felt more of an insult. The Cambria has a bar and offers pizza, but we don't drink and was not interested in spending more money than we already had.
Also, they do not offer refunds, which in itself a tale-tell sign for most reputable hotel establishments.
We usually enjoy our getaways, but this one was certainly disappointing. The Cambria experience has left us with a very bad taste in our mouths. I would advise anyone who will be staying in the Pigeon Forge area to look elsewhere. There are better hotels out there, and they won't take you for a ride. read more
