Life is good at the beach

Really good service - 5 stars Chicken fried rice was super yummy, ordered a combo appetizer platter which was a ton of great food for $29. Special of the day fell a little flat - grilled shrimp on a salmon fillet with coconut rice and sautéed veggies $26 (wish I'd gone with something on the menu) View was phenomenal - 5 stars Clean bathrooms and chill music and decor. But best of all were very gracious about seating us 20 minutes before 9 pm. Did not rush us through our meal at all.

On a hot sunny day, it's so refreshing to dine on a patio overlooking the lake. Cambo is perfect for this! It's a family-owned restaurant and everyone greets you like their family and our service was very attentive. The spring rolls we shared were flavorful and spicy, though it was a lot of money for so few. The salad rolls had fresh julienned veggies inside and vermicelli noodles and really nice for the hot day. It came with 2 to share. I think the restaurant is on the expensive side, however, you can't beat being across from the beach and excellent service.

Wow I just ordered spring rolls and salad rolls to go and had tbe rudest waitress ever. I checked my order as I always do and seen there was not enough peanut sauce so I said "that is not enough peanut sauce can I have an extra?" She said that will $.50 and I replied "really, they dont give you enough and then charge you for more?" She turned right snotty with me and said "usually that is enough peanut sauce!!" But in the meantime while she was getting me my extra peanut sauce I added hot sauce to my peanut sauce. She said to me really snotty. The next time you get any other sauces there is a $.50 charge. I was surprised as I have eaten at many vietnamese restaurants and have never been charged for hot sauce. So I was standing there trying to make sense if it and said to her "so if I was sitting here eating and wanted hit sauce i would be charged for it??" "There must be some kind of misunderstanding, that just doesn't make sense!!" She was so rude. Even through in some valley high lip and sigh. I was even going to tip on a takeout as its still service. Not a chance and I wont be back. Thanks Ashley!!

It was not busy at all when we got here around 6 pm, with only one other table taken. There were a few take out and pick up orders when we were there. The reviews recommended the wonton soup so I had to try that. The best wonton soup I had in a Vietnamese restaurant was in vancouver and it has since ceased operations but I still remember the taste. Unfortunately the wonton soup here was ok, quite average. But if Vernon doesn't have much choices in wonton soup, it is ok to order but just don't expect to be wowed. Besides wonton, there are shrimps and veggies (broccoli and carrots). We also ordered the house spring rolls to share. It was not as crispy as I would like as I found it a bit hard to bite through the roll. My friend had his usual item of the grilled pork patty, shrimps and spring rolls on rice vermicelli (#48). He said it was ok but not as good as his favorite restaurant. Reason being it didn't have as much veggies as the other one. Service was good as the staff did come often to top up our water glass.

The rich and clear broth had multiple layers of flavours with some underlying sweetness. You would want to continue to drink it. As I didn't feel thirsty due to MSG, I would recommend it more. The flavour was a solid 5-star for this small size of Pho House Special. The value was a 3-star though. Overall is a 3.5-star. For 20 bucks I got one thin piece of rare wagyu beef, one thin piece of beef flank, 3 pieces of one third of beef ball, and 4 to 5 very thin pieces of tripe. The amount of pho noodles were adequate for a size small. The texture of the pho was a tad less al dente than my liking, but it was still good, not too soft. At the end, I thought something was missing, but I didn't pay too much of an attention. A few hours later, I checked the menu again. Tendon it is! There was zero tendon in my bowl. Perhaps the chef forgot about it during a standard lunch hour. The dining room was about 70% full at the time. I would go again to try other dishes if I happen to be in the area again on a business trip. They serve sushi as well. Their appetizers looked good, too. It's an interesting Vietnamese/Japanese restaurant. The servers were nice. The service was fast. Parking was super easy in the outdoor mall parking lot.
