We were tired and hungry as we were walking back from "Old Florence" to our apartment in the quaint neighborhood we found Calypso. One thing not to forget in Italy is that most restaurants don't even open for dinner until 7:30, something we're not used to. We were one of the first customers to walk in. It is a shiny, upscale decor, very clean and very Italian. We had 2 wait staff and another customer trying to explain the menu to us. We worked through it and weren't quite sure what we had ordered until we got it. But the staff tried to help us and showed a lot of patience and genuine interest in pleasing us from start to finish. I had the seafood spaghetti; which had a ton of clams, calamari, shrimp and great pasta. It was what I had hoped I was ordering. My wife had an unusual spinach ball plate with pancetta and zucchini, with burata cheese. She liked it, but there isn't anything similar either of us ever had. The presentation for both plates was good as was the taste. We split a desert that was good; 2 glasses of house wine; 1/2 liter of water; tea and espresso for $50. Between the service, huge menu, taste and value, we would recommend. read more
