Guava cream cheese king cake - was excellent
    I Love g.

We got a guava cream cheese king cake at the beginning of the season and really liked it. The second time it was available (it was a pop up), the quality went down by a lot. It felt undercooked with guava flavor that seemed unnatural, almost chemical like. Really disappointing because was wanting to love it. The two cakes even look different. See photos

Who ever gave this place 4 stars or less is INSANE! Stopped by and picked up a single serving of Oreo cream cheese king cake and a whole Bavarian king cake. Guys were super friendly. There was no wait! They are ready for MARDI GRAS! Cute place. Come get some!

The king cakes were so good! I loved the wedding cake.. so delicious. I liked the red velvet! The nectar snoball was so good, my fave out of the three! I love their traditional one & Oreo cream cheese too!

This is one of the best king cakes I've ever had, and I've had a lot. I always judge king cakes by their plain one because I know if that one rocks the filled ones will undoubtedly be amazing. Caluda's plain king cake is damn near perfect. They have the perfect amount of icing in my opinion and the cinnamon runs throughout the cake so each bite is as good as the last. None of that dry, hollowed out in spots , inconsistent cinnamon thread is happening here. And listen I'm a HUGE fan of Rouses in general, but when I hear people say they have the best king cakes I'm always just wondering WTF because umm sorry but no they do not. But I digress. Anyways, here in Lafayette (home of the bs donut king cakes...which is just sacrilegious and an insult to traditional king cakes) you can get a fresh Caluda's king cake at Costco at carnival time. They ship tons of them everyday but they do go fast, so when you see one, grab it. You'll never ever say Rouses has the best king cake again. That's a promise.

Wait, I'm shook that I've never written a review! This is my second favorite king cake and it's amazing that you can be in and out without having to wait in line for hours upon hours. I'm a traditional girly so don't ask me about all those fillings but if you want a good, moist piece of king cake this is the place for you!

Mardi Gras is a state of mind. And Caluda's can help you keep that state of mind all year long with their outstanding King Cake. I first found out about King Cake at a Baton Rouge Yelp event on Zoom . It was supposed to be a bake-along event but I didn't bake; I watched and took notes from the chat, including a most important note about ordering King Cakes online from Caluda's. Which is exactly what I did. My King Cake was supposed to arrive a week before it did but in these crazy times in which we live, not only did we endure a pandemic but a massive ice storm in Texas shut down shipping impacting the whole country. I called Caluda's to see what was up and heard an outgoing message saying, basically, chill. Your cake will get there when it gets there and it will be fresh. Which it did and it was. Caluda's King Cake is yeasty, moist and flavorful. The icing is the perfect sugary compliment to the dough. And of course it's sprinkled with sugars (purple for justice, green for faith, and gold for power.) It arrived on my doorstep with a Mardi Gras cup and three strings of Mardi Gras beads. Talk about putting me in the Mardi Gras spirit. Just what the doctor ordered as we come up on one year of pandemics, lockdowns and quarantines.

Tried the guava king cake today! So fresh and delicious and not overly sweet! You can taste the guava! It was worth driving to Elmwood for! And they were super busy! Good for them. I love Caluda's and their daily/weekly specials.

I recently discovered their boozy coffees and that they sell Vietnamese coffee - eff the world condensed milk glory! So, freaking good. During the holidays, they sell egg nog lattes which are creamy and so delicious. But if you want the boozy one, go with the District Lebowski. Jaw drop, so good! I still think the donuts themselves need more work - I wish they would taste sugary like the ones in Lafayette called Meches. The toppings are exquisite and those hot honey fried chicken sliders are the best! The staff are very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I kind of wish those boozy coffees were at the other locations, but other than that, keep doing what you are doing!

This one feels like a chain restaurant (which it now is) and has no real personality being pinned in between a bike shop and a Jersey Mike's inside of strip mall. The kolaches at District are really good. They have a variety of flavors, I usually get a smoked sausage, cheese and jalapeno which is tasty but this time I got a brisket boudin and cream cheese kolache in a collaboration with Gonzo's. This was phenomenal. I also got a regular glazed donut. This was not that good. It's too dense and too thick. I like my glazed donuts to be light and airy; I want it to almost melt in my mouth. All of District's donuts are thick. Most of them are good especially the banana pudding donut. The issue is these aren't really donuts more like cakes or just a dessert. If you are coming to get your order to go this place is fine but if you want to hang out, I prefer the other locations.

It was just one scoop of disappointment after another. First of all, the "black and gold" flavor that one of us was so excited to have again had freezer burn on it and the chicory flavor was way less pronounced; their king cake flavor was essentially just birthday cake with Mardi Gras-themed sprinkles in it. The other one of us ordered "sweater weather" and it basically tasted like you were mainlining nutmeg. Too intense! And the creole cream cheese just tasted like plain cream cheese--and not in a good way! Our daughter was happy with her cotton candy (blegh) cone. We would not exactly describe portions as generous. Also, it should be mentioned that it was around 50 degrees outside and they had the A/C on full blast in there. Yes, we understand you don't want to pump the heat up and melt the ice cream, but we were shivering. Very unpleasant! What a bummer because we had the fondest memories of Creole Creamery and now it's quite soured. Maybe we need to go back to the Garden District location on another trip, but three stars for now.

Located in a semi-sleepy warehouse'y area of Elmswood, they manage to crank out delicious baked goods daily and have made a name for themselves through local catering. While they bake a number of things, I think it's safe to say cakes are their most popular item. They make really awesome wedding cakes, sheet cakes, cupcakes, and a really stellar king cake. The latter is available year round, which is really convenient. The doberge cake is perfect for chocolate lovers and the NOLA wedding cake is decadent. A lot of people sleep on their ooey gooey cake, but it's definitely one of the most indulgent things they make. Their custom cakes look incredible and are extremely creative. They also bake some really high quality bread. From french bread to pastries, they can produce stuff perfect for building the perfect muffuletta, poboy, or the underrated but always lovely pullman loaves. They also make muffins, fruit tarts, pies, and the coolest swan shaped cream puffs. Delivery is available and the customer service is really outstanding.
