I don't remember the name of the movers that helped me the day of, but they were very personable, professional, and extremely understanding of the fact that some of my furniture was awkwardly shaped and I had to move on the hottest day of the year because of my job. will, wesley and lucien are, quite frankly, superheroes. moving of any kind is inevitably stressful, but honestly, the three did such an incredible job of allaying any concerns. nothing short of courteous, will, wesley and lucien were so patient with our requests and took the time to make sure everything was in its place. we were moving across the mid-valley from corvallis to portland and the crew took the time to make sure that everything was accounted for - down to the delicate china and glassware we had was gently wrapped and packed. miraculously, will, wesley and lucien moved a rather hefty sofa bed from the second floor of our home, past a narrow, winding staircase. they took their time and problem-solved in real-time: the fact that there was no damage to the sofa nor the house is a tribute to their patience and expertise. we're really appreciative of will, wesley and lucien. as we settle in, i still think about their heroic efforts to this day (even though it's been a few weeks and this review is long overdue.) they stayed until the end: not only taking our furniture and other items up three flights of stairs on a warm sunny day, but taking the time to make sure everything was properly organized in our place and in the garage where we stored some items. there was never a sense of rushing to get the job done. tl;dr will, wesley and lucien, y'all were professional, courteous and so down-to-earth. wishing you all nothing but the best. thank you for taking the stress out of moving! 11/10 would recommend. read more

I have used Cal's Moving twice now within a year (once in December and August). Love these guys! They are very prompt, professional and very responsive. I called and communicated via text with Aiden, scheduled the move and took care of the deposit with him. He is awesome! Via text was such a great way of taking care of this and he was so nice to always answer any questions I had. He made it very easy and emailed me the paperwork I needed and I secured the deposit. He was also very patient as we communicated back and forth for almost 2 weeks before securing the day as we were waiting on the apartment manager to get back to us about the move in date. The day of the move, Jacob kept in touch with me. He texted before coming and when done, we had a total of 2 stops for this move and the guys were very helpful and professional in helping out my daughter and her friends move! I was able to take care of everything over the phone when the move was completed. This company helps put my mind at ease and I don't have to worry about any moving issues as well as hidden fees! I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again and recommend them highly. They came prepared with supplies, moved quickly, and are very organized and dependable. I had a lot to fit in and they did a great job of fitting my items in their van like a puzzle and nothing was damaged. Seriously, you can't go wrong with them. 4.5 stars if I could. On the first trip Dylan and Chris did an excellent job! They took good care of my furniture. Really hustled to get as much done. Due to the size of the truck (16 ft) they could not fit everything. It worked out well and they were able to schedule another trip. Then Chris and Andy helped with the second load. My only complaint is if 26ft truck was sent it could have been done in one load. My experience for next time is to over estimate what you have. This company will misjudge your move and then on the day of the move, leave your things out in the driveway, and hold them literally for ransom until you pay an additional $5000 for their mistake in having to get another truck. They say things like, "this happens all the time" or "we are a business and we wouldn't be in business unless we made a profit"!! As my items arrived on the east coast they had a motley crew meet me at the storage unit; I had no idea who these men were - they didn't look at me when I spoke to them and fist-bumped me instead of shaking hands upon arrival! They are ill-prepared and highly unprofessional. I would never do business with this company. They also left for lunch and were gone for over 2 hours! Communication was abhorred as they promised to keep me informed but highly lacked the skill in follow-through and they ran behind constantly, with workers sleeping in and being nonchalant about my items and attachment to cherished heirlooms - they have no concept of professionalism. This was a cross-country move - a very stressful time and they couldn't have cared less. Cal, the owner is aloof and has others speak for him as he is essentially deemed "the man behind the curtain", who is of little responsibility in managing his own company. -Good luck! I was very impressed and pleased with my experience with this business. I arranged to hire movers via e-mail with Cal, who was prompt, friendly, and helpful with the whole process and all my questions. It was very easy to get the info I needed and make arrangements to utilize their services. Luke and Ian were my movers about a week ago, and they did a great job! They arrived on time and got right to work, and took just as much time as Cal had estimated. A three man team came to pack my Pod. It was quickly apparent one Pod was not enough. A second one was ordered and Cal's returned early the next day to pack the remainder of my belongings. Each day the team was friendly, professionally and took a high level of care for my things. They were hard working and efficient. If I could give them more than five stars I would. This move was a disaster. Two of the three guys they sent were snarky, disrespectful, and careless. They left different key associated parts (TV remotes, cords, hardware that went with things they disassembled or grabbed and loaded) scattered around on the floor and flatly refused to do many routine aspects of a move although I was respectful and polite with them. I saw one guy drop a fragile box, accidentally trip and kick it as it fell and then laugh. They even drove away without loading many remaining items we'd discussed. For some reason, they wanted to be done and leave 2-3 hours early, although I'd reserved the whole day and confirmed it twice. They left me, a senior lady with a ruptured disk in my back and a bad knee, sitting on a curb crying. After they left early, I had to try to carry multiple loads in my tiny car to the storage unit alone and even hastily move some boxes to a neighbor's living room to get the house empty in time to turn over the keys to the new occupants. I called Cal's office to try to discuss how rough my experience was (and how different it was than when I'd used Cal's a few years ago), and they said the owner would call me but no one ever contacted me. They also charged me a much higher hourly rate than the standard. Watch out for these people if you don't want to be left in the lurch at one of the most stressful and vulnerable times of your life. I was limping and injured for two months after this awful experience with Cal's. read more

These guys were everything you want in a moving company. They showed up before they were due. They showed up with their tools. And they showed up with great attitudes. Not only that, but they hustled and had a desire to get the job done in a timely manner. Cal's came and moved all my large furniture in July. In the move they put several dents in the walls. Ripped my curtains out of the wall and left hanging. While they were there they broke the mirror to my dresser and came down and told me they didn't know what happened it just shattered when in fact they dropped it and the wood was split all the way across the top. When we got to our new home to see all of our furniture almost every single thing was broken. They broke the door out of our armoire. Dropped my vanity split the wood all the way down the front. Took the doors off our refrigerator which were not necessary and then put back together and left us four screws because they didn't know where they went. Refrigerator does not work correctly. The stone is broken off my patio table, large, 8 inch scrape down the front of an antique chest, and so much more. I sent them probably 20 to 30 pictures and then they actually sent someone out to look at everything. He was in shock. But then I never heard from anyone. I have spent two months trying to resolve this issue with them. They finally refunded my move but told me in an email that it would cost them thousands of dollars to fix all of my furniture and they can't do that, and that they also could not turn it into their insurance because they would be dropped. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I contacted Cal's Moving Help for assistance with moving my mother from her home to a down-sized assisted living apartment. The team of Edgar and Timothy were on time, had a great attitude, were friendly and were careful with my mother's possessions. They worked quickly and carefully, packing the items to avoid damage. On the other end, they very efficiently unloaded the truck and placed the furniture in the appropriate places. Edgar and Timothy were very helpful is reassembling a couple of items. The only slightly negative comment I would make is a minor item, but it didn't fit with the care they exhibited for everything else. The team asked me if there were any cinder blocks they could use to put in front of the tires since the driveway is steep at the house. I found some for them to use. When I got back to the house after the move, I discovered that the blocks had just been tossed aside - one into the flower bed and the other to the side of the driveway. It would have been nice if they had been left at the top of the driveway for me to put away. This was a small move and only across town, but it was professionally done and I would use Cal's again. Loading of our furniture and boxes into the truck was scheduled for 9AM and the two gentlemen (so sorry I forgot your names) were there early and ready to go. Due to unforeseen circumstances we were running late to pick up our moving truck, however they were very understanding and waited patiently for our truck to arrive. When my husband finally arrived with the truck they kindly offered to back the truck into the parking lot and made sure that there was enough space around the truck for our neighbors to drive around. Once the truck was ready they loaded everything in our 2 bed/1.5 bath townhome efficiently and professionally in just over an hour. Afterwards they moved the truck again so that we could easily leave the lot of our apartment complex. Would highly recommend this moving company! read more

Nice group of guys. College kids. They were friendly and got the job done but they were a bit slow since they took their time to tetris my furniture into the moving van. My new place was only a few blocks away so it probably would have been faster if they just made two trips. Some of my furniture got scuffed and cracked because of the stacking but they werent super sturdy to begin with. The service was pretty cheap compared to other movers so i cant really complain. read more
