I have a Timex Indiglow digital watch which is over 20 years old. i wear this time piece everyday and when the day light savings time of year rolls around, I can't change the hour because the setting buttons are clogged and do not allow for the adjustment. Gene (owner) very kindly uses watch maker tools to make the modification, which I could never manage, I have asked him many times over the past few years for help and he always provides this service. If you value you're fine jewelry, do not have your repairs done here! They took my beautiful engagement ring and ruined it. Instead of using 14k gold as I asked for, they repaired portions of the ring setting with some other metal and then gold plated it. It was 6 months later and I noticed the entire inside of my ring was black and tarnished! Real gold does not turn black! They repaired the ring with fake gold and charged me $350 dollars! Callahan's was deceptive and told me they used 14k gold. Don't trust them! Don't use them! Going forward I will have to have my ring re plated with gold again and again to cover the the cheap metal they filled it with. Very angry and disappointed! Callahan Jewelers has been like a tradition, passed down from my mom to me. It has been my jewelry store of choice for years. The people are pleasant, honest and helpful with above par customer service. I always get my watches resized and batteries replaced here because the price is extremely reasonable. I recently dropped off my MK watch to have the battery replaced. They were having an issue with the screws and asked if they could hold onto it till the person who has more experience would be in. 2 days later I received a call saying that while they were able to replace the battery, but the watch still doesn't seem to be working. They offered to see what the problem was and give a free estimate on fixing it. Next thing I knew I was receiving a call saying my watch was ready. I don't know what was wrong with it, but it was working when I picked it up and all I paid for was the replacement battery. They also have great sales every now and then. I bought a few white gold petite chains from them while on sale because the price was just right. I have also gone to them to sell some of my gold jewelry because I needed some cash before a vacation. What you have to keep in mind when selling gold is that there are different karats (anything lower than 24 k means other metal is mixed in). The higher the karat, the more valuable the gold and the more money you will get for it. I happily walked away with enough cash for my trip! read more

BRIDES AND GROOMS DON'T GO HERE. I recently got engaged and I went in with my fiancé to look for men's wedding bands. We're young and we were a little nervous my engagement ring might have been a fake diamond since we purchased it in the NY diamond district so we asked if they could check the certification number inscribed on the diamond to see if it matched the paperwork. The man in charge there started loudly lecturing us on what a diamond is for no reason. ALSO HE WAS SO CARELESS WITH IT. he had the audacity to just carelessly touch the top of the diamond (WHICH YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO WITH DIAMONDS) and drop it on the table. I literally got proposed to two days ago and just got this ring. It is so precious to me but the way he embarrassed us for no reason and treated the ring when i still get sad accidentally touching the diamond just almost made me leave in tears. THESE PEOPLE DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR WHAT YOU THINK IS PRECIOUS. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE OR COME BACK HERE. My fiancé read the reviews and so many people were saying they don't care about the price and what you're getting because they will treat you with care but what a load of bull. These people are the worst. Also it's hilarious they call themselves professionals when they called my band white gold when it's platinum. If they can't even tell the difference between that and considering how they treat diamonds seriously What a hack. I have been coming to Callahan's since I was young for various things - from having my children's ears pierced to finding the perfect chain for the charm that I wear as a necklace every day. Today I walked in because one prong of my engagement ring was sticking out. They were able to fix it on the spot and did not charge me at all. They even cleaned my ring! I insisted that they take something, and they refused, telling me that it might come loose again and would then need to be replaced and to come see them at that point. I obviously annoyed one of them with my presence but she got up walked over to the counter and stood there, no smile, no greeting, no "can I help you?" just a sour puss on her face.
