Ron, Rich, Doug and Denise are all top notch! I interviewed 22 roofers (yes 22!) and received…read moreestimates from each. Something was always off and I did not like companies that sent over commissioned salesmen who wanted to be my best friend and then they suddenly don't know me after I sign the contract and pay a deposit. Ron Carlson himself came to the house and the moment he walked up my driveway I had a gut feeling I found my roofing company. The search was over. Ron did not start with all the sales crap and throwing titles and certifications like GAF Master Elite blah blah blah at me that virtually means nothing. He was friendly, polite but no nonsense. He knows his stuff and could back up why I don't need gutter protectors, why I don't need 6 inch gutters, why I don't need useless "gold" warranties pushed by the roofing companies etc. Quotation was presented two days later, no extra 6.8% credit card charge levied, final bill was what I was quoted. Period. The Carlson team installed a new roof, gutters, soffits, leaders, two new attic fans, ridge vent skylights etc. Their team worked diligently, clean and started each day at 7:00 am and finished at 6 pm. Rich came by to make sure all was good and so did Doug (though I did not meet him). Top notch roofers. No gimmicks, no add ons, no big lawyer written contracts to sign and no hassles. Old school - agree to the job, do it and happily pay. A handshake means something with Carlson Brothers. They took 1/3 deposit upfront and did not take the other 2/3 until the job was done and they were gone. In fact, Denise called up two days later and asked if it's ok to go ahead and charge the balance on my credit card. I can't say enough good things about them all. As to price, extremely fair and they don't upsell you on anything. Ok. Enough said. I am pleased to select them out of 22 roofers I got estimates from and yes you need to do your due diligence because you'll find a lot of people tell you to do things you don't need to do. Great job guys. Thank you also to Denise and Doug for answering all my questions through the process.

I called the office and made an appointment and Mr. Carlson who showed up on time to provide us with a quote. The next day the workman arrived to perform the work. Everyone was professional and knew exactly what to do. Unfortunately there are many contractors out there that will try and do things that aren't really needed but this wasn't the case with Carlson Bros. This company and it's employees were great! Based on my experience I would definitely recommend them. Don't go looking through the Val pack coupons for a company that needs to do the advertising to get business, instead look for the good reviews of a local contractor. Thanks for everything.

The initial design phase before we signed the contract and made the initial payment went extremely well. However, problems started after we have made the first payment and signed the contract. It took NJPB six months to secure the building permit with the town. Kieth blamed it on the town bureaucrats and because we have never delt with them it seemed plausible to us. Now that we've dealt with the town ourselves, we've come to know that he lied. Come to think of it, not a single phase of the job moved foreword without us chasing them for weeks and sometimes months. Throughout the entire project, Kieth has tried to squeeze us for time and money as much he could get away with. He engaged in unethical and deceptive sales and business practices by playing with contract terms, change orders and invoices. The details are far too complicated to describe here. Two years after we've signed the contract the second floor work was completed and we've asked Kieth to facilitate the final inspections and close the permit. His assistant Cassidy sent us an e-mail that inspections were being scheduled. However, two weeks later we were contacted by the town to be notified that we're being penalized because no inspections have been scheduled and we're occupying the house without the certificate of occupancy. We tried contacting NJPB but they were not responding. We were forced to schedule and complete the inspection process on our own. After we have completed the inspections, closed the permit and paid what we thought was last invoice to NJBP, Kieth has re-appeared to send us an unexpected "final accounting" invoice for 20k. We disagreed with the validity of this invoice, contacted a lawyer and refused to pay it. Just recently we learned the true purpose of this last invoice. Apparently, NJBP didn't pay the HVAC subcontractor who did work on our project a year ago. The subcontractor is now suing NJBP for 20k exactly. We come to know this because our address was listed on the court docket by mistake. We now know that not only Keith didn't pay the HVAC guys at the time, he also overcharged us for that same work. Before we found this out, we were not planning to write a negative review. After all, even though it took two years, the actual work was eventually completed. However, now that we can see such a concrete and provable instance of him lying and cheating, we feel that we're obligated to warn others away. I must add that I feel a little bad writing this negative review because the work crew who works for Keith was actually ok. I think they deserve a better boss.

He was very good at explaining everything in a way that I could understand. All of the workers were excellent. We had an un anticipated need to replace all the wood on our roof before putting down the shingles. While it was a freak out moment for me and additional expense,, Joe made it very easy to make the decision to move forward and eased our concerns about pricing and the extra work that had to be done. Taking this into consideration, all of the roofers came and from 7:30 in the morning until 6 o'clock at night made sure everything was perfect. The cleanup was impeccable. Pricing was competitive despite our surprise for the new wood. One of the workers even came back the day after to do some extra cleanup. To me that is above and beyond what we expected Job well done in one day.
