I feel bad writing this review, but it's important. I really want to support this place, I bought my Onewheel here, and I've been waiting to buy an accessory for it since February, and every time I ask, they say they're going to have it in a week or two, and it's mid April now. I could've bought it online two months ago, but I've held out, and I feel foolish because I could've been enjoying it this whole time. A local business needs to meet the consumer half way and stock what they say they're going to stock roughly when they say, or order it for me, or tell me it can't be done. Calikites is a great store with an amazing crew. Brian and Jake are incredibly helpful. They're straight shooters that do good work at fair prices. We live in an expensive city and at times it feels like people are taking advantage at every turn. It feels good to see a small business like Calikites doing right by people. Calikites was the third kite shop I attempted to visit this week. From my experiences with the 3 shops this week, this is definitely my go to for kiteboarding gear. They understand the value of building trust and a loyal local customer base. These guys run their business like a business, unlike most other kite shops. The first shop I visited was closed during their regular business hours (only open 4 days a week and only for a few hours per day, and STILL was closed during this time). The second shop was open but the employee didn't know anything about the products, couldn't find anything they have that was in stock, had his friends over socializing while my husband and I looked for the items ourselves. Both shops told us to come back another day, and I was very disappointed in the way they conducted business. The guys at Calikites were knowledgeable about the products, and if they didn't know the exact specs, they tried to look them up for us. They gave great recommendations and were proactive on the sales without being pushy. They also gave us plenty of lone time to measure (set us up with a scale and let us spread things all over their back room) and discuss the items amongst ourselves. They can order things they didn't have in stock and have them shipped directly to our house. Needless to say we made our purchase with Calikites and not the other two shops. I am stoked with our purchase and experience, and will be back for more gear! read more

I recently needed to purchase a replacement charger for my e bike. It was extremely hard to find but it turns out Cali Kites had it in stock. Unfortunately it turned out that the issue was with my battery not my charger. Having never used the one I bought at Cali and because it was $150 I needed to return it. They normally do not return chargers but were very sympathetic and understanding of my situation. After examining the charger they could tell I hadn't used it even once. They agreed to give me a refund minus a small restocking fee. Very understandable. I may never need their services again and they still treated me like a regular customer. I can't recommend them enough. Whether you're into kiteboarding, longboarding or electric bikes, skateboards, scooters or one wheels. These guys have it all. Not only that they actually ride it all so you're not dealing with some commissioned salesman. You're dealing with a fellow rider. I've told all of my friends about them. Go check them out. I recently bought a electric skate board its a boost stealth board I bought it directly from calikites. Before my purchase I shopped around both locally and online for the best price. At the time I didn't realize how important it was to buy the board directly from a local vendor, rather than online. Because I had a manufacturing issue come up, with my board 6 months after I bought it. An rather than having to mail my board to the manufacture. I was able 6 months later to bring my board directly to were I bought it at calikites. They not only fixed the board for free, they gave me a loaner board while my board was in the shop. They provided 100% customer service and made the whole experience conviniant and easy for me , with absolutely NO hassle. I couldn't recommend the guys at calikites more. When you buy local you get taken care of and this shop is that example. At the outset, he mentioned that there were too approaches: one cheaper than the other. I told him to do what ever was best for the kite. Cali Kites is the best kite shop in the bay area and definitely one of the best I have been to in the US. The Van Ness location makes parking pretty easy and is practically a straight shot to Crissy Field, the East Bay, or the Peninsula making it super convenient for anyone living in the city that needs new gear or even a repair. They have all of the new gear from North and Cabrinha and I have been personally set up with a brand new kite and board at prices very comparable to what you find online, but with the comfort that the store is nearby if there is an issue. Brian, the store owner, is a great guy. I had advanced past the gear that I purchased to start kiting and my board was really holding me back. Brian spent a lot of time with me in person and on the phone to work through the options that I could pick. I wanted to try to stay with the brand of my kite, but didn't want to pay $700-$800 for I board I had never tried. Brian ordered a board just so that I could try it. After a week of no wind and a failed attempt on a day that wasn't quite windy enough, I only got the chance to use the board once in a three week period, and after all that I hated it! Before asking to demo the board Brian pointed out all of the trade offs to the board and sure enough the negatives that Brian was concerned about for me were all true. I felt awful after all that, that I had to go tell him I didn't want the board, but he was totally cool with it and we went back to the drawing board with a different brand. Brian found me a local demo day by the brand I wanted to try and he gave me some pointers of the pros/cons for each board, which made finding the right board for me really easy. Despite the board being on back order he managed to pull some strings and get a board for me delivered pretty quickly. Not only was I thrilled that he got the board, but he also took the time to show me how to put it all together and test out the set up of the foot straps for the best fit. Kiteboarding is not a cheap sport and if I am going to spend some serious money on new gear, I want to spend it with someone that I can trust and that cares about my satisfaction. Brian saw me kiting at Crissy one day and the first thing he asked me was how I was liking my new kite (It's amazing by the way). For anyone looking for this type of experience, Cali Kites is hands down the place to go for anyone living in SF and possibly the entire bay area! read more

My friends and I have bought several electric skateboards through Brian and he's been nothing but helpful, thorough, honest, and efficient. He responds to emails quickly and will even setup and fully charge the batteries on a board ahead of time if requested. I was impressed with how thoroughly he inspects boards after setup.
