He says he never used a heat gun on my vehicle but here is a picture of him going to the driver's side with a heat gun. He also worked on my vehicle for at least 15 minutes going back and forth on the driver's side fitting tint but says he never started because he saw the damage. Complete liar. Shady business damaging customers cars, lying and making them pay for their screw ups. ALL OF THIS IS ON CAMERA AND WILL BE BROUGHT TO COURT. Newer update: They refused to answer phone calls regarding new bill until I called from private number. Clearly hiding from their responsibility. Update: $869 bill from Honda Came in to get my front windows tinted. Car is 3 months old with 1500 miles. Car is washed meticulously twice a week with pressure washer/filtered water. Ceramic coated and exterior is highly maintained in particular to check for new damage. Car was washed 2 days before tint appointment and not even driven at all the day before, parked in the shade. There was no damage on my trim at this point or when I got out of my car to go into the shop office. "Tint specialist" comes up and tells me there is a problem while I am waiting, shows me heat damage on my driver side window trim that looks like it is from a heat gun. I specifically use a heat gun at work to heat up PVC and know what plastic burns from a heat gun look like. There is also plastic heat bloom behind the popcorn texture of burnt/overheated plastic. I took it in stride and took it to the dealership, where they told me the damage looked like it was from a heat gun, and gave me an estimate for $466 for trim replacement. I called up the tint shop and asked them about the situation and they once again deny all wrongdoing. They tinted one window and did not finish the driver's side because they thought the dealership would reject warranty claim. The weird thing is that my door panel was taken off. A clip even popped back into place on my way home. My door was opened and window inspected and he went ahead and did that but claims the damage is from before, within the 1 day after I washed my car. Even worse than this, he tells me they have no appointments available for over 2 weeks, so I am supposed to drive around with 1 window tinted. Nightmare experience. Costing me a huge amount of time and money. I have consulted other tint shops and they said the damage is definitely from a heat gun. Check the pictures and make your own determination. read more

The tint job was for a bmw 228i all windows except for the front window - ( paid full price ) Had the tint for about a year and half now and with hot weather as of late , it started getting bubbly and smeared ( look at pics ) . Figured since I payed credit card , I can easily pull out the transaction records , and they can replace it . Hmmm. I had a review for California Sunscreen but now its gone. Oh well. I have been a customer of Sydney and Tom (owners) since 1999! They have provided tinting services on no less than 4 of my cars and will continue to earn my business on my new cars as well. The work is top notch. Many tint shops sell the same brand of tint but it is all about the surface prep that determines the final product and longevity of the installation. How do I know this? My 2003 Toyota Highlander was tinted almost 12 years ago and to this day, there are no bubbles, separation or fading. My 2006 Mazdaspeed6 had developed a small glue separation on the back window (about 7 inches long) and what happens next separates professionals from the other shops. Tom looked at the glue separation, gave me instructions on how to file a claim and the following week, the rear window was re-tinted under warranty! Keep in mind that was almost 8 years since the tint was originally installed. How's that for customer satisfaction? This shop does work both at their shop and for other businesses outside so it is best to schedule an appointment for the most trouble free experience. Recently got a Prius Prime and needed to get the windows tinted. I never realized how hot it got inside the car when there's no tint. I also just felt so visible to everyone. Decided to come here because my fiancé got his first car tinted here and the tint has lasted 10 years without any issues (we know because he sold it to a friend). Made an appointment over the phone. Tom does all of the tint on his own from what I gather and is very busy so scheduling might not be as quick as you'd like. We got in and Tom was able to provide us with a lot of information regarding our options. He also provided great information on what to expect for the next week, such as not opening the windows or wishing the car and that some bubbles might take time to go away - I'm a perfectionist and any little bubbles bother me. After a week, there were some tiny bubbles that I'm sure no one else would've noticed, but he was more than willing to fix it for me. He explained that it was just an issue with the glass and that he could sand it down, but with the car being new, he didn't really recommend it. Brought my Mazda3 in for window tint and was very pleased with the job they did. I spoke with Tom, he listened to what I was asking for and gave me exactly what I asked. It's been about a week and the job still looks excellent. I asked how he would tint the rear windshield. I know back in the day, shops would typically seam 2 pieces of film together to accommodate for window curvature but Tom said that he would tint the rear windshield in 1 piece!! Amazing!! The price is reasonable for the service and the product they sell. I got a limited lifetime warranty. Can't beat that!! I recently had some tinting removed and re-done here. While California Sunscreen may not be the cheapest window tinting available, they do a good job and are quite friendly. I would certainly feel comfortable returning here in the future for any window tinting I may need. I'm knocking one star off because I did notice a small bubble in one of the tints that they installed. This is my second time using this company to tint my SUV. Several years ago, I had a 96 Toyota 4runner which I had tinted at their old location which was visible from the 880 freeway. Shortly after I had it done I moved to Orlando, FL for work. The tint and workmanship held up perfectly in the humid, hot weather of FL with not the slightest hint of bubbles or cracking. When I bought my new SUV, I had no question about returning here. As said before Sidney runs two businesses. He now has a few employees under him. I had Tom install the new tint at the San Leandro shop. This location is right across the street from their old location but is a bit less visible. As said there is a small cafe a few doors down but I opted for the short walk to Marina Square for lunch instead. I made the appointment on Monday for a Wednesday morning drop off. It was done in 2 hours and the quality is just as good as when Sidney did it himself. Overall the price is more than you would pay to do it yourself or have some guy do it in your driveway. I would never claim to be able to do this myself. In my opinion you always get what you pay for and nothing can be better than this service. I got two new cars in April for me and my wife, an Acura and Lexus. Both dealerships offered to set up a tinting appointment, only thing is both tint companies never contacted me. So I went on an online hunt for a reputable tinting place. I found California sunscreen and all the great reviews, then set up an appointment for the 24th of April. I was waiting in anticipation for my tint and to not be roasting in my own car. Everything turned out great and I love the work he did, he even gave me pointers on how to keep my paint in good condition knowing that my cars were both new.
