I was very satisfied with the service at California Nails. I was able to get an appointment the day I called. My feet (and toes) are very sensitive so it is important to me that my pedicure is prescribed for me. It was refreshing to have a technician who understood me and was invested in my satisfaction. The salon was quiet and relaxing. I was in and out of there in 1/2 hour with dry nails for less than 1/2 price ( including a generous tip) of other salons in the area. The quality of your nails really depends on who you get. Don't bother making an appointment, you'll probably have to wait anyway. The young girl does a good gel mani that lasts. The older woman did not soak my nails, did not cut my cuticles, barely bothered to buff my nails for a gel mani; constantly had me switching UV lamps. She was also doing another client's nails at the same time. My nails chipped within a matter of days. The price is cheap but you get what you pay for. read more

And they make sure everything is dry before they kick out out like so many salons do. This is such a friendly place too. It's a great salon to relax at. God i hate this place, and i still end up going a few times in the summer. Mostly because I don't need an appointment, there isn't anywhere else that's quick and close, and I can get a pedicure for $17 in any 'colllah' that I want (from diluted OPI colors). The place is never visually clean; presume their instruments and foot tubs aren't sterilized either. Mani or pedi, I feel man-handled. The manicurists frequently 'take their eyes off the road" and talk way too much to each other in a language they presume their customers don't understand. Mocking, staring and snickering about your fat customers is universal, no interpreter needed here! No charge, either, to watch the blaring cartoons alongside the employees' runny nosed kids who sit on the floor eating Doritos. And be sure to sit in the pedicure chair next to the sleeping older teenage son of the owner. He snores! read more

Absolutely horrid experience here. Firstly, I come from an area with no shortage of nail salons (even ones with regular mani/pedi for $25) AND I am also decently good at doing my own nails. A regular mani/pedi at California nails will run you $30. Though this was inexpensive relative to the area, it was $5 more than my usual. In spite of this, my expectations for this establishment were still low. Their nail polish rack was underwhelming - nearly no recognizable brands. Immediately after leaving the salon, the nail polish on one's of my fingers slid off completely almost as if it were gel. 2 days post manicure, the skin around my nails began peeling back and the polish just looked awful. read more

Honestly this place was great. A little Messy doesn't mean dirty, it means busy which isn't surprising. They had fun conversations with me and they have more color choices for gel than most places, and the prices can't be beat! My gel polish looks better than it does when I pay $15 more! This was the worst pedicure I ever received. The only thing they did was paint my toenails. They first told me my nails were too short for a French pedicure because I'm sure the guy wanted to save time.. never massaged my feet or legs or used exfoliater or cream on my legs. When I paid he had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to put the tip on the credit card. This was the first time I have never left a tip. I usually tip $10 for a pedicure. I went to this nail salon yesterday, against my better judgment, and sure enough, today my cuticles are infected! This place is FILTHY!!! I should have got up & left when I watched the husband rinse the pedicure basin out with simply water & then wipe it down with a dirty towel that was already on the floor! I am reporting them to the BOard of Health, so someone doesn't lose a finger or foot because of these filthy people! They let there son & the husband walk around with no shoes on and their feet are so GROSS!!!!!! They themselves look like they don't bathe on a regular basis.....what was I thinking!!?? Yikes. That's all I can say about this one. I came in with my 4 year old daughter to get manicures and pedicures. What they did for her was fine - she's four after all - but my experience was a lot different. The pedicure tub was just rinsed out between clients, not actually washed. Subpar pedicure all together. The worst part was when I sat to do my shellac manicure, the woman was doing three of us at once (like we were an assembly line) - using the same tools and files and never once cleaned the nail dust off her hands before moving to the next one of us. Horrible. I should've gotten up and walked out but I was too far into it! Lucky Nails is much cleaner and right around the corner. read more

Came in to get gels off and a quick manicure and they scrapped my nails and wanted to take a very coarse emery board to the remaining gel. Then they argued with me about doing a quick manicure. I have gone to California Nails a few times now and am very impressed with the services. I am always greeted at the door with friendly hello's and great nail polish colors to choose from including Esse and OPI brands. They have recently updated the salon adding new chairs and hot towels during your pedicures. The employees are very skilled with a paint brush and I am always very happy with the outcome of my nails. If this is there one next door to Auto Zone... I had the worst experience. An older lady who may be the owner didn't smile once. She was in such a rush to do my manicure that she cut me twice. My daughter and I decided to get pedis to hearken in the summer. Because we decided on the spur of the moment, we went to this place. We've been before and never had a problem, though it had been a few years since we had gone. The scrub and one minute foot massage in lukewarm water were the highlights for me. My daughter had to request her water temp be turned down; it was set so high she couldn't put her feet in the water. My daughter requested a French manicure but the guy had eight or nine toes painted with a bright red color before we saw his mistake. Though he offered to take it off, my super sweet daughter could see the young man's boss (who was standing right there and saw what happened) ready to pounce, so she just went with it and said to keep it. The irony is that my nails were painted with the same color, and other than the shiney finish, her nails looked better painted than mine. I had gaps were the technician didn't go down to the cuticle and a smear mark on a toe where too much polish had been applied and he attempted to rub it off. So my daughter gets the wrong type of pedi she wants and my pedi looks like a two-year old did it. Thirty-six dollars later has guaranteed us never returning here again. read more

I love California Nails for the simple beauty that you barley ever need an appointment and my girl is always ready, and happy to do my nails. I've been coming to California Nails in Fairhaven for 10 years and know the family well. My nails always come out perfect, for a perfect price. California Nails is the spot! I get a gel manicure every other week and always love the results, though they could broaden their gel manicure colors a bit further(but the selection is very large i'm just super picky). Love everyone who works there along with the clientele, as i'm always able to talk to the friendly stranger getting their nails done in the chair next to me. This nail salon is a prime example of a friendly, clean, homey, small town nail salon that is family run. Love it! read more

If I could give this nail salon no stars I would this was absolutely the worst service I ever had. They didn't even have one nail specialist on staff to do acrylic nails. I went with three others the first thing we had said was two acrylic full sets and two shallac sets and four pedicures. They said no problem they took two of use for pedicures immediately we sat in the chairs for about ten mins before the even turned on the water. Two more people came in the sat them in additional chairs and began working on them before us and we where there first and had waited an additional 45 mins to even received the pedicure which they then rushed through the pedicure they advised us the couldn't even do our fullset instead of allowing us to choose to go to another salon so we could get the service we came in for they allowed us to believe that we would be able to get the services we expected. Not even that they started working on my friend and in the middle of her pedicure not once not twice but several times would stop working on her and work on another person so not only did we wait for a service the was terrible they weren't properly staffed and they had horrible customer service and allowed us to get services knowing the couldn't assist with all services we required for that specific occasion. I will never give them my business again I was horrified and they new we were unsatisfied with the services and didn't appoligize for our inconvenience. read more

Terrible I'm only giving this a 1 star because there's nothing less it will allow to give. First they are just rude ! I was trying to explain how I wanted my nails round and the lady tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. My nails look terrible payed 35$ for lop sided nails that took a hr and a half to put on! I will never be back to this nail salon. And I will make sure to let my friends and family to know not to come to this salon. Honestly, if I could give this place a lower rating, I would. I was given a gift certificate, so I went with a friend of mine, thinking it would be a good time. When we got there, we were not greeted in any way, they rushed us to picked out polish colors, and the service was very slow. There were 4 people working and including us, only 3 customers. So why was it slow? Well the girl that was doing my nails got a call literally in the middle of a fingernail. She took the call and walked away, leaving me sitting with only 3 and a half of my nails painted. We were in a hurry, but ended up waiting about 45 minutes for her to be done with her phone call. While I was waiting, my friend was having her nails done by a man, who was very rude to her and got mad at her for not understanding what he was saying because of his accent. And the other customer yelled at one point because her toe was cut during her pedicure. The total was $20 and the gift certificate was for $25. I left the other $5 as a tip, though they didn't even deserve that. Honestly the worst business I have ever had. It ruined that hour or so of my birthday. read more

I'm so disappointed by the absolutely HORRIBLE SERVICE I received here. I got a full set of acrylics less than a week ago and paid extra to have gel polish. Within two days about a third of the polish chipped and peeled off. Within another two days 6 of the acrylics peeled and cracked off my nails. I went back hoping for at least a complimentary polish, as the acrylics had ruined my nails from cracking off. The girl I talked too was young and extremely rude. She didn't even want to listen to what happened just wanted to know what I wanted. I sat down to have the 4 remaining acrylics taken off and she didn't even soak them. She ripped off the fake nails with a wedge. It was pretty painful. Then she refused to even simply paint them for free. I left shocked THAT I WAS TREATED LIKE THAT and honestly upset. If you can't be decent to customers you shouldn't work in the service industry. I recommend LUCKY NAILS right on the other side of the plaza. They recognize how to treat people and do an excellent job. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would, but that wasn't an option. This place gave me the absolute worst customer service experience I have ever had, I mean worse than the RMV. We walked in at 12:45 on Mother's Day (we expected it to be busy and didn't mind waiting our turn). We wanted pedicures and a full acrylic set, they told us to pick out our color and take a seat at the pedicure station. They filled the water so we could soak our feet while we waited and went back to their previous clients to finish up. The trouble started when two women came in about 15 minutes after us looking to get mani/pedis. When they sat down, the man wasnt paying attention and one of the women's tubs overflowed. So after they cleaned up the mess, someone started working on them even though we were there first!!! We then continued to wait another 30 minutes before someone came to service us. When I asked if they could heat up the water please because it was cold, the woman responded kind of rudely, which i brushed off along with being overseen. In the mean time another tub over flowed so the girl working on me left me to clean it up (took about 5 minutes). She worked on me for about another 2 minutes before she left to take off another woman's nail polish! She then came back and rushed the rest of my pedicure, it was not at all relaxing or worth the $20 I paid. After the pedicure was done they confirmed that I wanted a full set and brought me to the nail drying station. About 5 minutes later they came over and told me I wouldnt be able to get my nails done because apparently there is only one person in the entire salon that knew how to do acrylics and she wasnt going to be coming in anytime soon because she was already late. I have been to this nail salon about five times now. I continued to return because the prices are quite reasonable. However, I will never be returning. One of the nail technicians is very sweet. But if you have the unfortunate experience of anyone else doing your nails, then I feel bad for you. The oldest woman who works there is a rude, rough, unprofessional nightmare. Her daughter might be worse. She is in her early twenties, and one if the most unpleasant people I have ever come across. I tried to have a conversation with her when she was doing my nails, and she ignored me, and rolled her eyes. She speaks English perfectly well, she is just an angry mean person. She waxed my eyebrows, went way too thin with them, and took the end part of one off. I have to fill it in with pencil, she dripped wax into my hair and didn't even apologize! Everyone makes mistakes, but a simple "I'm sorry" would have been enough for me not to write this review. The facility is dirty, and one of my nails broke within a week of it being done.
