Lauren, the office manager at Lamb, called this morning and said that if in this heavy rain, we only had one leak, we most likely DO NOT need an entirely new roof! We had had another roofer (not Lamb) inspect yesterday -- he told us we need an entirely new roof and did a "temporary patch" of tar (not a 3 or 4 step patch that would be permanent -- which is what Laura said Lamb would do). This other roofer claimed that our plaster house has cracks in the ceiling because of the bad roof! WRONG! The cracks happened before the rains and it's due to expanding soil, a dry season and the use of sprinklers. Several other roofers whom we spoke with over the phone each decided that we need an entire tear-off before even coming to look at our roof and (and one told us that he will "work with us" on the price if we will show other roofers' quotes to him...hmmmm). My experience with Lamb was completely different from the other roofers. Lauren explained a lot about roofing to me and said that after the busy season, in about a month, they will come and look at our roof to see if we do need anything done to it. She explained that Lamb would have done a 4-step patch to the roof but that the guy who spread tar over the leaking spot on a rainy day for very little did well for us even if it's not the kind of patch Lamb would do. We came to find out they were not going to use a licensed asbestos removal contractor. It seems he was just going to remove the suspected asbestos with no testing, etc. When we told him our HOA will not approve the work without someone that will test and provide a certificate, he said that would cost an additional $3000 dollars. Every other bid we got quoted $1500-$1800 for asbestos removal and certification. When we let them know we could not use them because they did not have a license to remove asbestos, we asked for our deposit back. At first they said they would return it. Now they do not answer our calls. This contractor was dishonest and then tried to fleece us. I would definitely not recommend or use.

They took off what they wanted on the roof & not what the insurance stated. When I requested to…read morehave them cover the roof of an evening because of the dew, they always wanted to do it after 8 PM which is against the city rules, yet, they had all day long to do it. First time they "covered" the roof they put duct tape down. Second time they put two sandbags down and not at the top, but at the angle. They tried to charge me for the permit, but that was all part of the contract. When they got the permit, they put down, it was a complete roof and it was only a partial. The employee advised the inspector that the city of Torrance advised him to put a complete roof replacement vs partial. There were tons of holes in the roof when the inspector came and the inspector was not happy. I wish I could post pictures here.
