Efficient Iron Works - Custom railings with continuous turn all the way up

Efficient Iron Works

We recently moved to La Jolla and were looking for someone to replace an old metal stair rail. We…read moretook a chance with Efficient Iron Works and we are so glad we did! Paul and Isaac were great to work with from start to finish. They came out to take measurements, discussed the design we wanted and our rail was fabricated and installed in less than two weeks. We are thrilled with the look and quality. The price was very fair. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for professional iron/metal work.

I recently worked with Efficient Ironworks and couldn't be happier with the entire experience…read more Paul, the owner, is truly exceptional. My deck has a lot of odd angles and was a complicated project, but Paul made everything feel easy. He was extremely communicative--texted me back right away, came out immediately to give me a quote, and always answered every follow-up question I had. It was genuinely a pleasure working with him. My custom-designed railing (64 linear feet) was hot-dip galvanized and took about six weeks from start to finish. Paul recommended a matte black finish because the hot-dip process can leave slight irregularities, but it ensures the metal will never rust. He was absolutely right--the final result is stunning. The railing was installed the day before my birthday party, and we made it just in time. All of my guests and neighbors were blown away by how beautiful everything turned out. Paul is professional, reliable, and highly skilled. I would honestly ignore any one-star reviews--they do not reflect the quality of his work or service. I look forward to hiring him again in the future for a security gate and more ironwork projects. Five stars, easily.

Top Brass And Metal Refinishing

Pricing is obviously higher than if you did it yourself or took your brass to a generic metal shining shop, but the quality of the work here is higher too. I've had this lamp for years and polished it myself a few times, but it has never looked as good as Top Brass made it look. Joan is very sweet on the phone, and Vicente was a true gentleman in person. They both went above and beyond to cater to my needs and wants, and I'm incredibly grateful for them.

This place is absolutely amazing. I have a beloved 2-light desk lamp that I love. But it was ugly…read more(sorry, I didn't think to take a "before" photo). But it had lots of pits, and very little "gold" color was left, just lots and lots of dark corrosion marks. It had gotten too ugly to put out anymore. Over a long period of time I looked for a replacement lamp. None matched my original. I decided to purchase a similar lamp made by Stiffel on Lamps Plus. What a mess of a lamp! The two columns holding each bulb were not the same height. There was mismatched color at the base. The shade was not level. Stiffel used to be a good name but no longer. Terrible quality for a higher-priced lamp. I found Top Brass on Yelp, and despite the long drive, brought it down to see if they could repair it. They went above and beyond what I ever expected! My photo just shows the "after," which is disappointing because the difference is like night and day. It looks absolutely BRAND NEW, and what they did to repair it will last forever. It is not an inexpensive process, but I am so glad I bit the bullet and did it. It gives me so much pleasure to look at and use this lamp on my desk every day. Gail is wonderful to deal with and talk to. I made a new friend in her. Needless to say, I can't recommend them highly enough to justify the joy I now have in my resurrected lamp. Be sure to look at all the photos they have in their lobby!

We couldn't be happier with our new deck from Second Wind Deck Master! A huge thank-you to John,…read morethe owner, and to Abraham and Abraham Jr., who handled everything from start to finish with incredible care and diligence. They put so much effort into this project, and it shows in the finished work. John recommended going with composite decking, and I'm so glad we listened. We chose Trex in Spiced Rum paired with white railing, and the combination turned out absolutely beautiful. Our project included multiple sets of stairs, and they did a fantastic job bringing everything together. The craftsmanship and attention to detail were great. We received several competing bids, and their price was very competitive--especially for the quality of work they delivered. It's wonderful to find a team that takes this much pride in what they do and follows through with such a beautiful result. I've worked with many contractors, and John stands out for his honesty and integrity. He's a rare find--the kind of person you trust and want to work with again and again. I absolutely plan on hiring their team again by for other decks and would recommend them to anyone considering a new deck. Grateful for their work.

He skips the heavy paperwork and works on trust instead. As a real estate entrepreneur, that was unusual to me, but it turned out faster and just as reliable since he backs it up. Where other deck builders I spoke to seemed shaky/flaky about my project, John was solution-oriented, brave, and responsive. That confidence is ultimately why I hired him. Abraham Sr and Jr, the builders, are true craftsmen. They work hard, move fast, and were always open to dialogue when something needed improvising on the spot. Hardscaping wasn't part of the project. They're upfront that it's not their focus, so I brought in a separate company for that piece, no issue at all. While this isn't the least expensive deck builder in San Diego, the quality and honesty are there. Where I did blow past my original budget, John flagged it ahead of time, so it was never a surprise. The end result exceeded my expectations, including the cable railing, which looks clean, modern, and beautifully finished. I'll be hiring John and his crew again for my next deck project without a second thought. And I'm 100% sure my neighbors are about to start knocking, asking who did the deck... ;-)
