I wish I could leave a rating of zero stars here. Please don't trust these imcompetent, passive aggressive vindictive, rude liars. My car was damaged in August of 2021. Caliber is the only body shop inside Baltimore city whose work is guaranteed by Esurance. I live in Baltimore. I called them on August the 17th & was told the first available appt. wasn't until mid September, but if I declared my car "undriveable" I could get in sooner. I refused because my car was not undriveable. I requested to come in for an estimate, leave in my car, have them order my parts & return to have them put in. Caliber kept refusing to accommodate this ,so I called my insurance rep, they arranged a 3 way call between myself, a Caliber rep & my insurance rep. The people at Caliber agreed to this on a recording & didn't deliver. The first appt for an estimate, unless I declared my car " undriveable" was 10/25/21. I went in for my estimate that day & spent less than an hour there. I was given an estimate for approximately $1359.81 & was reassured that they would order my parts. The next day I received a text saying that my claim had been closed??!!! I called Esurance & Calliber I was told that my parts were being ordered & not to worry. Stupidly, I trusted them at their word. Three weeks later around 11/15/21 I called Caliber about my parts & when they might be arriving. The receptionist said she checked my parts order & told me that " they were booking up fast & I should make an appt soon. When I inquired about available dates she responded with " right now we don't have any openings until Dec 2nd". I didn't expect that a business would be so blatantly passive aggressive & vindictive. I dropped my car off on Dec 2nd only to find out that Caliber then, on 12/02/21 submitted an identical estimate to the one submitted on 10/25/21 after taking my car apart , I have a dated and signed window sticker placed on my car by caliber that verified that my car was disassembled and that a repair plan was made on the 2nd of December. What happened to the parts that were supposedly already waiting at Caliber to be put into my car ??? ( they kept saying that they're at the mercy of the parts suppliers & insurance companies, not sure how the parts suppliers or the insurance company are responsible for their blood faced lie or the fact that they didnt ever order my parts in Oct. They didn't order those parts until 12/02/21. The parts were ordered after a 2nd estimate with my car disassembled ( at least that's what the signed , dated window sticker states) which was identical to the 1st estimate from Oct. I dared to call them on Dec 17th to ask what was taking so long and Theresa Combs hung up on me after claiming that " I had a nasty attitude" ( I do tend to get annoyed when being lied to repeatedly) because I sounded irritated when she tried to give me the excuse that " it's a pandemic and we're at the mercy of the parts suppliers and the insurance companies" , ( so, someone from the parts supplier or Esurance is responsible for Caliber misleading me & lying to me when they said my parts had arrived in November ???). On Dec 17th, when I dared mention that Caliber had assured me that my parts were there in mid November & said I wasn't sure how that misrepresentation fell on anyone but Caliber ? I tried to inquire " why did she submit an estimate identical to the one given on 10/25 on 12/2 to Esurance if those parts had already been ordered and arrived ? " Theresa said that " I needed to check my attitude problem & then she hung up on me. Shortly after that conversation she submitted a new estimate for almost $13,000 , making my car a total loss , filled up with things like my "CRV" nameplate ($47.96) my AWD nameplate
($40.05) those things easily pop off the old door & then onto any identical door. I also found in my estimate a $3,265 charge to "replace the roof panel with sunroof" my sunroof works just fine & there is nothing wrong with the roof. This 3rd estimate seems like a vindictive passive aggressive response to my daring to question why it's taking 5 months to get my car repaired ? It was done after I was hung up on. When the first addendum estimate didn't make the " total loss" budgetary mark, another supplemental estimate was added for $248. Strangely, Theresa made a comment to my mother stating that "Caliber is at the mercy of corporate mandates & rules & that she had no power, but that a private mechanic could easily work with someone to make that vehicle not a total loss, Theresa then stated that the "estimate total was only about $300 over the line" , ironically there was a second supplement added to that estimate for $248.85.
1. if my parts were ordered in Oct , wtf ???
2. When I called on the 17th, 15 days after I'd dropped my car off, under the impression , given to me by Caliber reps, that I was only dropping it for a parts install , why was there zero mention of an updated estimate ? or that my car was being totaled out ? read more
