Great fresh produce
Dave H.

A great market in Calgary. Puts the farmer's market in San Antonio to shame. Lots of vendors selling local fruit and vegetables. We bought some baby carrots that were so fresh. Don't think supermarket. Think carrots harvested really young. Crisp and sweet. We also bought snap peas and local eggs. We sampled a lot of olive oil and balsamic vinegars and bought some of those. We checked out a cured meat vendor and bought landjagger, olives, and a charcuterie mix. So many great food vendors as well. Wish we came a little later for lunch. And of course we had to buy kettle corn on the way out.

Whiskey tasting.

Visiting from out of town. Probably more exciting for locals. Tried this seasonal whiskey. It was surprisingly spicy.

Cabbage roll, schnitzel, roasted potatoes with sauerkraut, sour cream topped with bacon, bits, and veggies. I'm so full!

Located just off of Blackfoot Trail only open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. It more on the high end as Farmers markets go. You really have to look to find deals. The food court is the cats (beep) can't say the word. LOL from Asian, Indian, Greek, burgers, desserts, Foothills ice cream just to mention some of many kiosks. I was always told if the place is busy or has a line up you know it's good food. It's true this place had both and we stepped in line and waited our turn. Yes, We settled for Ukrainian that's where the line was!! Cabbage roll, schnitzel, roasted potatoes with sauerkraut, sour cream topped with bacon, bits, and veggies. I'm so full!! Was so good everything tasted delicious! Did I mention I'm so full!! -friendly speedy service. -very clean eating area with plenty of seats and tables -very rustic feel to the building -plenty of parking that fills up on the weekends Well worth the outing!!

Pear vanilla croissant (4/5) - very flaky and filled with pear purée

Super clean and well organized farmers market! Love the weekend buskers and the variety of local vendors. I've picked up some things like candied salmon (shipped from Richmond, BC), a variety of great cheeses (we loved the 40 & 18 month aged comté), salamis, red velvet almonds, and pear vanilla croissant. Lots of the vendors were also generous with their samples. I didn't have the belly to try any of the food spots, but I noticed a ton of variety! Only thing I wasn't impressed on the Sunday I went was the fruits weren't as fresh looking and were priced quite high.

Single Cinnamon Bun from Yum Bakery

Here are our FIVE star FAPS: Food: Diverse and delicious! There are a multitude of vendors and food/drink options! We tried two today: Wayne's Bagels and Yum Bakery! We would highly recommend both options! The bagels were a savory breakfast bite (see pictures)! We both got them on the Rosemary bagel. The pastries were also delicious! Our favorite was the seasonal single savory croissant! We think the cinnamon bun would have been better if it were heated! Prices for food were reasonable. Ambience: Cute, friendly, and family/ friends orientated! Friends and families seem to convene here! There is a little play area for small children; the bathrooms/washrooms are clean; and there is an abundance of seating options. No one seems to have to wait to find a seat! Parking: FREE and a huge lot! We came at 10:00 AM, and it was still a semi-empty lot! Service: Everyone is so friendly! Even if you don't buy anything from their stand, they are welcoming and happy to answer any questions. A happy place leads to a happy meal and gathering spot! We would RECOMMEND this place to all visitors/ locals to Calgary!

We love visiting farmers markets and this one did not disappoint. Even though it was a ways away from our downtown hotel, we're glad we drove out to this location (they have another location in Western Calgary). Everything looked clean, neat and delicious. In addition to vendors with fruit, produce and meat, there were also vendors with arts and crafts, beverages and gift items. Oh, and there were all kinds of eateries in the food hall area -- definitely like a mall food court but way cooler. We ended up buying cherries and grabbing a smoothie. Across the parking lot there were also other establishments, including a cute little bakery.

Delicious foods. Fresh vegetables and fruits. Super clean and friendly place to visit if you're visiting CA! Our 1st time here visiting from Dallas,TX.

Calgary Farmers Market is a fun place to browse around and pick up some local produces and even have a bite. A year round indoor market which is a plus during the wintery months. Opens 4 days a week! So convenient compares to some of the farmer's market that only opens on Saturday morning only! You can find bakeries (for humans and pets), farm fresh produces, coffee roastery and more! They also have food area with nice seating if you want to order some food from different vendors. Worth a visit!

What a cornucopia of goodies! Everything from fresh vegetables to supplies for a gentleman's shave this market is your one stop shop for everything!!

Great place to buy some fresh local produce and meat! They have a variety of vendors and restaurants to choose from inside. I highly recommend this place if your looking for that home grown meal or products.

This farmers' market is a sizeable mix of cheap and expensive, local and imported, fresh foods and some delish, niche cuisine. In no particular order, my favourite things are: The face painter when the kids are with me The balloon animal dude (not always there) Hot dogs from Franks & Mabel's Smoothies from Magarita's Back bacon and chicken by the 10lb box from Spraggs meat shop The sweet kale salad from the Cherry pit The non-alcoholic fruit wines from Souto farms Varieties of honey and hot sauce from Beeland Dim Sum from Shanghai fine foods Plain butter crepe from La Creperie Peppers and tomatoes from Gull Valley greenhouses Maple syrup and maple butter from Taste of Quebec Loose leaf tea from Totalitea AND Silkroad spices are here too Despite this long list of favorites, there's a longer list of good stores I haven't tried out yet. There's a lot to see, buy and do in this little corner of Calgary. I hate myself when I come here hungry because I stuff my face with all the foods and desserts on display Tip1: not everyone takes cards so have some cash on hand or hit the ATM Tip2: stop screaming kids (yours not other people's) by stuffing their mouths with the generous fruit samples at Souto farms and Cherry pit Tip3: for a small fee, Cherry Pit will prepare you vegetables and fruits for you Tip4: Shop just before the market closes for the week on Sunday and you could score some discounts on the perishables Tip5: shop on Thursday and Friday to get the fave items before they're sold out Tip6: follow them on social media to get updates on special events Best time to be in the market? Late spring when all the BC fruit and veggie harvests start coming in. It's like near delirium for the kid in me. Bonus points for clean restrooms and lovely hand wash

Also, my mathematically inclined friends, did you know that Pie Cloud is named after Pi because the address is 314. There, you're smarter for eating pies. Yup. First of all Mac and Cheese pie is amazing. You should just order that to make sure you've truly lived. If you are ok with meat, there is a bacon lattice. If you're veggie inclined you get two sides - woots all around are called for with that. Lucky for you it's available lunch and dinner. I reluctantly tried the veggie pie once (to challenge myself) and it was also good and something I would love to order but I felt sad I didn't eat Mac and Cheese pie... so I guess I have my regular here. We tried brunch recently. The cure is freakin' HUGE and I can't believe someone would order that much food knowing the portion. I'm a food stealer and my husband has a hefty appetite and he openly encouraged the stealing because he was so full. He is in love with biscuits and gravy though but will likely order a more reasonable size meal next time. I throughly enjoyed my chocolate french toast and am looking forward to banana cream waffles sometime soon... mmmmm. And I've gotten this far without mentioning the sweet pies.... well... they are also great. I love the banana cream (wouldn't normally say this about banana cream ... well, ever), the sweet addiction is a seriously sweet treat (even I recommend sharing this because a little goes a long way. Also, a current seasonal selection is hot chocolate and they really really need to make this a full time pie. Chocolate pie forever please. Thanks. Overall, this place is worth a looksie and they deliver through skipthedishes if you don't want to go down there.

I got to try their entry for Alberta Burger Fest 2016 and it was amazing! Typically I'm not a fan of anything sweet on my burger (aside from ketchup or maybe sautéed onions) but this one might've just changed that opinion forever! Their bacon jam & house made ketchup really made my day. ;) It's a messy burger (as all good ones ought to be!) I recommend giving it a try! On another note I got the sweet potato fries and they were also spectacular! They're the wavy/crimped kind and I guess it's all that extra surface area that gets them extra crispy when fried. If you usually don't order sweet potato fries or are on the fence about them I'd recommend trying silver sage's, that little extra bit of seasoned crunch just might make a believer out of you!

Silver Sage cattle are raised primarily on grass, but if you are specifically interested, they can detail exactly what the cattle are fed as they are raised. They aren't fed animal by-products, and they aren't injected with synthetic hormones or theraputic antibiotics. These guys care, and after the recent XL Foods issues, consumers are more and more starting to care more too. They do tend to sell out of popular cuts early in the day / weekend, but you can pre-reserve anything you want ahead of time. Just pop by the booth and place an order for a future weekend, or give them an email / call. We've found this very helpful, because showing up at an early hour on the weekend isn't something we are particularly good at. They are also really helpful with cooking tips and recipes!
