My husband and I as well as my parents booked a tour to Killarney in Ireland with Caledonian Travel. We were picked up in Ayr and the coach was early. We did have reserved seats but they were hard and uncomfortable and DID NOT recline. There was also very little leg room (I am 5'10") and had crushed knees on this journey. Our driver, Peter, was a lovely guy who loaded the bags for us. He apparently worked for Parks of Hamilton though and not Caledonian Travel. The bus was the most uncomfortable one I have ever travelled in. Our trip was advertised as a 5 night trip. The first night being in Dublin and having a morning there before travelling on to Killarney at lunchtime. The reality was that our first night was in a lovely hotel 30 miles outside Dublin and there was NO planned trip into the city at all. We set off for Killarney at around 9 am. This was very disappointing and a lot of people were not happy at all. Poor Peter had to endure all the complaints (and there were a lot). The rest of our tour was as expected and I have reviewed the hotels at Trip Advisor (Eviston House Hotel and Park Plaza Hotel). My complaint is that part of this trip was to experience a wee bit of Dublin AS WAS ADVERTISED in the brochure and we didn't get to do so. I would have preferred a more basic hotel IN Dublin and the chance to see a bit of the city rather than in a lovely 4* hotel 30 miles away! Basically, if the company weren't going to stop at Dublin, why did we not travel all the way to Killarney in one go as we did on our return? I would suggest that Caledonian Travel revise their website and brochure to reflect the true intinary for this trip. I would like to stress before finishing that Peter (our driver) was a lovely guy and he did give us some commentary on the places we travelled through with the odd joke here or there. read more

Just returned from a Caledonian Travel Mini Cruise to Paris. Joining me were husband, brother and sister-in-law. All of us being coach holiday virgins!, so had no idea what to expect. We cannot praise it highly enough and were discussing which destination for our next trip with the company while still on the coach back to Glasgow. From the start to the end everything was well organised. The coach was clean with onboard facilities. The Campanille Hotel in Bobigny, Paris was clean with good food, (although seemed a little under-staffed at times, but that might not be the norm!) The boat cruise on the Seine and the dinner and caberet at The Belle Epoque were also well organised and fun. So that only leaves a revieiw of the coach driver/tour guide Ian Stuart, what can i say that won't cause embarasment!!!! PURE DEAD BRILLIANT ( Billy Connolly eat your heart out!) From the get go he was friendly,helpfull, informative, and one of the funniest people i have ever met, he made a great holiday exellent. As soon as the loudspeaker clicked into action you just knew you were in for a little gem from him, whether it was historical info on the area we were driving through, or instructions on checking on-board the ferry, or some funny anicdote on life. Dont hesitate if you are looking for hastle free short break to Paris, we would give it 20 out of 10 if we could. read more

Booked a 5 day holiday to Blackpool for myself and my mother it was for the Grand Metropole Hotel I booked and paid Caledonian Travel £358.20 cash on the Wednesday morning 48 hours later they phoned me to say the holiday was canceled ???? I know they have a policy that if not enough people have booked they JUST CANCEL but there was still 5 weeks till the departure date . My biggest grumble is I have been told I will have to wait TEN DAYS FOR MY MONEY TO BE REFUNDED by cheque . The people in the office in Glasgow said WE DON'T DEAL IN CASH in this office . Just returned from a coach trip to Bay Highland Hotel, Strathpeffer. The coach was excellent and the driver entertaining and informative. The hotel itself was basic, comfortable and clean, although there are a limited amount of rooms that have a shower, albeit over a bath. The staff were excellent, very helpful. The meals and entertainment were awful, reminded me of the 70's with guest in the 60 and 70 year old bracket of that time. The food was either out of a tin, i.e. mushrooms, potatoes etc., or frozen, the menu was also from the 70/80's era. I understand that these tours are on a budget but think they need to be brought more up to date read more
