The staff in Trailfinders seem to make it their life ambition to find you the best deals on flights/holidays that they possibly can. They're so friendly and enthusiastic - after explaining my needs, I fully expected the guy to say "ohmyword that sounds fantastic - mind if I come with you?!". Almost slightly scary. I used Trailfinders at the beginning of the year to help organise a holiday - I gave them dates, a list of possible locations, and my (tiny) budget, and they came up trumps with a bargainous trip, £50 below my initial budget. Not that they ignore other holidaymakers, but they seem to specialise in long haul flights, and have none of the stuffy, formal air of many travel agents. They are more than willing to seek out alternatives to the package approach, have access to plenty of options and know their destinations. I booked a cruise in the US with trailfinders in January as they said that was the best time to book with best prices. Two weeks later, the cruise company reduced their price by £220. I contacted my agent at trailfinders who said that the price they had was fixed, and if I cancelled I would loose my deposit. I informed them that if I had booked direct with the cruise line they would have changed my cost. Eventually, I got to speak with their manager, who did what their rep should have done. He contacted the cruise line, cancelled then re booked at the new lower price . Sorted. Moral of the story is - Speak to someone with authority if you want something done. read more
