Loved the owners. Great plants. Fantastic nursery. Something is always in bloom and performing beautifully.

Some nurseries are organized to resemble the garden section of the big box stores, while others -- like Caldwell Nursery -- naturally flow. It's an adventure, really, and a fun Saturday afternoon outing. I drove an hour here because this place carries citrus varieties, and I was searching for something that was on my wish list. Found it! (And I found plenty more.) I learned, while strolling from one greenhouse to another, that this place offers a wide variety of citrus, fruiting trees, bedding plants, roses and so much more. And the folks here know their flora. The gentleman who helped me was able to tell me the rootstock of my citrus tree, and that's huge. (As a former citrus nursery owner, I also knew that he was spot on!) Caldwell Nursery is definitely a happy place for me, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to garden, read more

They have a good variety of citrus like Artic Frost and Hamlin Orange today. They have many other fruit trees the fig varieties were amazing and I got one that has green and yellow stripes. Gardenias and camelias available. Bedding plants herbs and tropical. Masks are required. Highly recommended! read more

So I have mixed feelings, first time going here and I feel like I missed its prime. Amazing huge place - I could have wandered for few hours. Had the spicebushes I was looking for. Lots of big mature plants for good prices. Downside is, it looks half abandoned right now. Only about 2 people working in whole place - super helpful but clear more than they can take care of. Lots of half dead plants from lack of water/care if they weren't under the auto sprinklers. Good way to pick out the TX hardy plants! Parts of it is like being in a big botanical garden. Hopefully will get some more TLC soon, felt like I needed to adopt all the plants. If out towards Rosenburg/Richmond area, worth going by! Hidden back behind the fairgrounds. Drive around to the right side. It will be worth it. read more

Having been to most nurseries here in Houston, this is easily in the top 3 best nurseries. Everything I've bought here has thrived and looks really healthy. She has an extreme ice collection of hibiscuses ranging from your typical kinds to some of the older kinds like Sport of Sport and Snow Queen or Carnival. My advise to you, give this nursery a fair shot, you'll like her prices too, you won't break the bank. read more

I have visited this nursery twice. It's a long drive from home. They boast a good selection of plants and offer reasonable prices. The single attendant is hostile and unfriendly, the plants available for sale need loving care and tending. It appears the unfriendly atmosphere leeches into the plants. There is a general air of neglect, things falling apart which could be rustic but for the hostility of the sole attendant. I certainly will not be visiting again, I am a buyer for a foreign company, will make further purchases elsewhere read more

This is one of the best nurseries in all of the greater Houston area - a real hidden gem. Want a TX native? They'll have it. Want a plant that is unique or rare? They'll have it. Want someone who knows about plants? Their staff is top notch. I'm surprised that a recent poster said there was no one around on. a. Saturday. That never happens! But...this is a place that expects you to ask questions if you have them. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, but tries to just let you shop for what you need. I strongly recommend this nursery over pretty much any other in the area. Although it's a bit longer of a drive, the prices are lower for far greater quality and you KNOW the plant is healthy and pesticide-free when you buy it. read more

Fantastic gardening center Wednesday through Saturday and very helpful with ALL questions asked

Excellent selection of plants, trees, herbs and vegetables. The plants are so healthy and the herbs so beautifully pungent. The employees are incredibly helpful as well. read more

We went to the nursery on 4/23/2021. We were looking for a Jasmine plant. Nobody was around so we rang the bell. A lady came out and we told her what we were looking for. She walks toward the back and points to a row and says there they are and walks off. She was very abrupt, did not stay around to answer questions. As I was leaving a couple of people had arrived and were also looking for help. Really sad to see a local nursery go downhill like this. read more

I visited Caldwell Nursery for the first time a few weeks ago looking for a Jaboticaba tree and a Cara Cara orange. I found them both and they were beautiful trees. I planted the Cara Cara in my backyard and it is taking off with lots of new growth. I was hesitant about the Jaboticaba because I have tried to grow them with no success. But I wanted to try again. After I got home I had several questions. I emailed them with the questions I had and within a few minutes they responded answering all my questions. If you like exotic, tropical and unusual plants you will love them. Their customer service is great. I will be back for more for sure read more

This is a great place if your into creepy gardens. Half of the plants here are dead and not well maintained. It's unfortunate that this nursery doesn't have enough staff to water the pots of trees or seedlings. The bamboo display was beautiful! read more

Amazing place! Family run, Caydee Caldwell is super knowledgeable and very sweet. She has a passion for all things exotic and rare so you will be able to find the plants you can not find anywhere else. Everything from caper trees, to all kinds of passion fruit vines, sugar apples, hog plum, mamey, star fruit, specialty herbs (extensive amount!), ginger, etc...and if she doesn't have it she will find it! I have found my new favorite nursery, no need to go anywhere else!! read more

Beautiful beautiful plants but way overpriced. I compared prices with other places and found out that I'm paying double the price here. Communication is bad. So I give this place 2 stars. It would be nice if they she worked with the price. read more

Definitely would not recommend if you want an enjoyable outing to the nursery. I give them a 1 star Rating is for the plants they carry (although prices are very high even at a private small nursery) definitely not for the friendly atmosphere. I hadn't been to this nursery in about 5 years. I used to go almost every week, sometimes just to walk through the beautiful gardens (lots of Bamboo now). I stopped when I was told I couldn't bring my small dog (people friendly) any longer and the owner was very brusque when speaking to other customers during the same visit. I thought I would try the nursery one more time and see if it was a friendlier place to shop. I was the only person in the nursery for 30 of the 60 minutes that I was there. I purchased 150.00 worth of bedding plants. Cay Dee The owner didn't say, hello, how are you, nothing. Didn't thank me for making the purchase, offer to help me to my truck or invite me to come back. Which I won't. Looks like all of the other reviews I have seen on this Nursery are being posted by Landscaping Companies, maybe this is the only clientele she wants to do business with read more

my fave nursery in Houston. Owner is extremely knowledgeable and will offer suggestions. However, if the nursery is crowded, don't expect individualized attention, it's a small family business. Either pick a slow day like Mon or Tues, or do your research prior to getting there. Prices are reasonable, selection superb. read more
