As this was listed as the oldest continuous operating library in Texas we of course, had to stop…read morein. Not much going on this trip but it was cool to see, pretty big place and looks great. They had several floors and 2 people running the desk. The outside was amazing to look at and is a very nice building. The children and teen section is right after you come in, there are stairs and an elevator, each floor is something different. The Fiction section is quite large and has a very large stage at the front, not sure what it is used for normally but it was a cool feature. Had some comfy chairs up there. One the floor with the fiction there was a large computer room, fully empty, First time I have seen no computers in use at a library. Even Shana remarked on that. They do allow you to use a paid for by the library Ancestry account to search family history. They had displays of books, most with themes along all the window ledges. There were two offices in this area as well, both with open doors, no one in them and signs saying library staff only. We did head up to the 3rd floor which claimed to be fireplace sitting but everything up there was closed and locked. Access was not denied, no sign nor roped off but all you could get to was a microwave. It felt like is was supposed to be closed off but someone forgot? We don't live here, so no library card but it was cool to see the place. The front desk person we spoke to wasn't super helpful, Shana asked about the age and if it was the oldest and they thought so but seemed very unsure and seemed to think it weird we stopped in. Not rude or dismissive just more confused, like they don't normally get questions or visitors. Still if you like history, old buildings, libraries, or any combination of the three, this is worth a quick look and walkthrough. Judging by the state and fireplace rooms they do some cool stuff here now and then so keep an eye out for that.

6-27-25, Ordered replacement window vent for rv from Amazon due to mine getting cracked and…read moredripping into livingroom. Permanent residence. Amazon said it would be delivered 6-28-25. Watched, waiting as it was out for delivery. Starting seeing notes that customer changed delivery service to a pickup at the post office. I DID NOT! Recovering from broken back, unable to drive. Had help to install it yesterday but they had to go home, Houston. Chat with Amazon that I didnt Change my form of delivery. One chat said it would get to me yesterday because he listed my delivery as a priority. 6-29-25, still has not arrived and it's a sunday-USPS closed. It's raining at this moment and I have to hope for no damage to inside rv. Nobody should be allowed to change my deliveries- just me!!! Now, I have to wait till tomorrow to get the post office to deliver it. Pissed off, disappointed, deceived by Lockhart Post Office.

She started screaming at me saying she was not going to print one out and handed me a sharpie to write down the address. I understand her life is pretty sad and has to take it out on everyone else but that is her job, after all I'm paying for the services. We came with my mother in law to get a benefits letter. Did not have an appt. But that doesn't…read morematter because the people who do have one, sit there just as long. We signed in at 9:30 am. As of 11:00 am they have called 4 people. Every time someone completes their appointment with the employee, they close the blinds and it takes 30 min to call a new person back. You can hear them behind the glass (with the blinds closed) laughing and giggling. No sense of urgency to do their job. It's sad that's what our hard earned tax dollars pay for. The waiting room is full and no end in sight.

3.75 I had to get my Driver's license updated before it expired so I decided to go to this…read morelocation. I made a reservation online. In September I made an appointment for November. After scheduling my appointment I received a text message with the appointment confirmation of the date and time and a link that allowed me to check in online once I was there. I also received an email reminder. On the day of my appointment I drove into the parking lot, parked, clicked the link that was texted to me and I was checked in and received a DPS ticket number. I then walked in, waited in a line to speak with someone working at the desk. A friendly woman checked my documents, gave me some paperwork to fill out, and then told me to sit and wait in the waiting area. I sat at a table, filled out my paperwork and waited. I waited for about an hour and a half. During my wait several people that worked there came out and made announcements. They were there to help. When they finally called out my number I was relieved that the wait was over. The woman that was working behind the counter was friendly. She checked my documents, and then told me where to stand and took my photo. I paid, she gave me my paperwork and it was done. This process went really fast and took less than 10 minutes. Overall it wasn't a bad experience it was just very time consuming. The appointment time was at 10:40 and I left at 12:20. You will wait a long time before being seen but a positive is that everyone that worked there was friendly and helpful. A side note. Be sure to take hand sanitizer and some sanitizer wipes. I used the women's restroom and they were clean but they didn't have any soap in the dispenser and the large hand sanitizer bottle on the sink was empty. So take something with you to clean your hands just in case.

When you arrive, you sign in on the kiosk with either your name, your phone number, or your confirmation number which is emailed to you. The kiosk generates a number and there are screens in the waiting room to tell you which number they are on. The process moves relatively fast compared to the past, but you should still plan to be there for about an hour. My appointment was at three, I arrived a few minutes early and was out of there around 4 o'clock. The clerk that assisted me was very helpful and friendly. It was an overall successful trip and some pretty good people watching while I waited.
