Completely new bathtub, there was no existing tub or shower in this bathroom

Mickey and Josh did a great job with our basement bathroom remodel. The bathroom was over 60 years old and we had the whole space re framed and added a bathtub. They did an amazing job in every aspect from the framing and drywall to the plumbing and concrete. The finished project was outstanding, we couldn't recommend them enough!

I was a CalCo customer and they damaged my property and then accused me of a crime on the internet when I asked them to take responsibility. Don't let the same thing happen to you. UPDATE: Paul's corporate, word-smithed reply is filled with blatant untruths and gross misrepresentations. His baseless allegation that I attempted to extort a cash payment is ridiculous. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have never felt so personally violated by a business in my life.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 1. I did not "provide guidance" to Noah while he was backing into my car. 2. Paul's baseless allegation that I attempted to extort a cash payment from him is ridiculous. I have involved law enforcement in the matter. 3. I did not "decline" to provide evidence of the damage done to my property by CalCo Design. 4. [[HIGHLIGHT]]At no point in our March 27 conversation did Paul ask me to get a second estimate. I offered to do this on March 21 (see my texts with Matt), but my offer was never acknowledged.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 5. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Paul's "prompt" response took 5 business days, and occurred only after I mentioned involving insurance. For comparison, his response to this Yelp review took only 2 hours.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] ORIGINAL REVIEW: I didn't want to have to leave a negative review because, apart from smashing a company box truck into my parked car, the installers (Noah and Daryl) did decent work on my shower. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, my experience with CalCo's sales team and ownership has been so troubling that I feel I must warn other potential customers about it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have included screenshots of texts and emails so that their content cannot be disputed by the owners. I expect that one of them will reply to my review and try to cast doubt on my experience. In December, a salesperson (Ben or Matt, I can't recall) visited my home to go over shower replacement options. He pressured me to sign a contract on the spot, urging that the price would increase substantially "as soon as he walked out the door." Admittedly, I gave into his pressure and signed the contract without obtaining quotes from other companies: my first mistake. On March 21 at 8am, I watched as Noah backed a CalCo box truck into my parked car, causing obvious damage to my front bumper. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Daryl notified the salesperson handling my account (Matt), who asked me to get an estimate from a local body shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I naively wanted to give CalCo the opportunity to remedy the situation directly. As a result, I did not immediately file a police report or an insurance claim: my second mistake. [[HIGHLIGHT]]On March 24, I sent an estimate from a reputable body shop to Matt. For the next two days he told me hadn't had a chance to discuss it with the owners, and on March 26 he stopped responding altogether.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On March 27, I left Matt a voicemail and sent an email to him and the owners (Paul and Andrew) requesting an update, as the lack of communication was worrying to me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]That afternoon, Paul called me and rudely informed me they hadn't responded because "they were busy" (for comparison, he replied to this review within 2 hours), demanded video evidence proving CalCo's employees caused the damage, claimed (falsely) that his employees told him it was "just a light tap" and couldn't see any damage, and suggested that because I live in Lancaster City and park my car on the street I should expect that my vehicle will naturally receive damage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He brought up that I told Noah my car had been sideswiped on that street once before, which I had told Noah because he was visibly upset about the accident and, out of kindness, I was trying to make him feel better about making an honest mistake; but I'd had that damage repaired through my insurance and there was no damage to my bumper until Noah backed into it. When I mentioned my intention to leave honest reviews of my experience, Paul accused me of "threatening his business" and implied that because I had not immediately filed a police report or an insurance claim, I was not being truthful about what happened. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He was rude, condescending, and disrespectful. I eventually grew tired of Paul's bullying, ended the call, and immediately filed a police report.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I regret trusting that as neighbors and members of my community, CalCo's owners would take responsibility for their employee's actions. I have learned a hard lesson that just because someone is your neighbor does not mean that they're your friend. If you are considering hiring CalCo, I would offer the following suggestions based on my experience: 1. Don't let them pressure you into signing a contract on the spot. Get quotes from other vendors before signing anything. 2. Don't expect them to honor verbal agreements. Get everything in writing. 3. If they damage your property, document it extensively and create an official record of the damage as soon as possible.

This could have been a 4 star experience if pick up went a little easier. The backstory was I…read moreneeded glass for a dresser top. It needed to have polished edges. I called several different glass companies to get estimates and lead times. Only two answered, one quoting a price of $60. Howell's gave me a price of $35, while all the others never returned my messages. It was a no brainer to place my order with Howells, although I did have some pick up concerns. I was told it would take a week. I placed the order on a Thursday around lunchtime. Howells shares space and/or has some sort of affiliation with a True Value in the city. In a less than desirable part of the city. I was concerned about parking, as that area is street, and some metered and very hard to secure parking. The weight of the glass according to my goggle research would be about 27 lbs. I was concerned about the possibility of walking some distance in a bad neighborhood with a large piece of glass. I spoke to them about this and was told of their parking lot in the back off of the Beaver Street alley and to call when I got there and someone would bring it out. To my surprise my order was ready for pick up a few hours later and was a few dollars less than they quoted me. I went to pick up after I got off work, still dressed in my work attire. The alleyway is wedged between a church and warehouses. There was a lot back there, wasn't sure it was theirs but parked and called. They said I was in the correct spot and to walk up the ramp, thru the glass shop, into the True Value to pick up. I asked why they can't bring it to my car and was told that "there was paperwork I needed to complete". It was prepaid. I assumed someone would carry the glass out. It's late in the day and about to get dark. I'm in heels. I walk up the ramp and thru a workshop where they are actively cutting glass with protective gear on. I'm not in protective gear and it's a maze to get to the store. In the store a lady hands me the glass and the receipt - which apparently was the "paperwork aspect" and I'm left to fend for myself, carrying this huge piece of glass the same way I came in. An employee did offer to open the door for me but at no time was it offered that they carry it to my car. I made it ok but wasn't thrilled about the experience especially after being told pickup would be handled differently. Note to store, they need to make this process easier for customers, especially females and at no time should any customer walk thru a working "shop". That alone is a huge liability. Also labeling of the lot and lighting would be most appreciated for safety reasons especially in such a bad neighborhood. Otherwise I was thrilled they got my order done earlier and for less.

They fixed it to perfection and lowered the price because it didn't take as long as they anticipated. Honesty in this day and age...amazing! If you need glass, call Howell's. These folks know what they are doing and are honest too. I won't need to play around if I need anything glass in the future, it's Howell's for me.
