Cal-tech plumbing did such a great job completely remodeling my bathroom, it's so beautiful... I can't wait to get up and shower every day! Travis was our lead contractor and he really knows what he's doing, from start to finish. Travis was willing to work within our budget and always kept us updated with revised estimates, when products arrived, & sent photos as things were completed along the way, since we were living elsewhere. He helped us pick the correct finishes and fixtures and always keeping in mind the pros and cons with each choice we had to make, and that was such a help. They were extremely thorough about protecting the floors and all other mirrored finishes that are often times overlooked. Also, when things with our electrical were not as expected, delaying everything a few days, he was willing to keep working through that as well and provide us with a skilled and trusted electrician to fix the problem immediately. His carpentry skills were impeccable and his crew was awesome. Tavis was always extremely professional, yet personable, thorough, fair, and reliable. It happens to all of us. You have a leaky faucet and figure hey I can fix that. Boy was I wrong. After trying to find out what part of the sink was actually leaking I moved something wrong and then had a broken pipe. water everywhere I quickly tried to find something to plug it with anything I could and then started calling anyone who I thought might know a reliable plumber. This is how I met Cal-Tech plumbing. My friend had gotten some work done from them a while back and my friend has great attention to detail so I completely trusted his recommendation. I called cal-tech and he arrived almost immediately. The level of service that I received was outstanding and could not say anything but great things. He repaired the pipe and made some great recommendations about what i could do in the bathroom. Needless to say I took the recommendations and he completed the job the following weekend and I love the new sink and toilet. I did shop around in the time that i had to think about it and his was the most reasonable amount that I felt for the quality of work that I was going to receive. I recently had a gas line installed by Cal-Tech Plumbing. Travis came out and completed the free estimate beforehand, and was very thorough with measurements (even crawled into the attic on a scorching hot day!) and sent me a detailed estimate. Their pricing was about half what other less professional companies were offering and their work is all guaranteed. They were flexible with my work schedule and found a date to come out ASAP to complete the work. Travis arrived right on time, and he and John finished the project quickly. They even found and repaired a big gas leak on my water heater valve (yikes!). They also made sure to bring everything to code by strapping down the gas lines and installing an earthquake safety shut-off on our gas meter. Travis was super patient with me, as I had a million questions to ask. He took extra time to explain to me how everything worked, and even showed me how to light the pilots on my water heater and furnace. He came out on short notice, was informative with his diagnosis, but not like some, that like to talk on your dollar. Cal-Tech Plumbing is the best around. My husband and I bought an older home and had Cal-Tech come out to take a look at several issues we were having. Travis and his crew ended up replacing all of our pipes in our crawlspace, as the existing piping was either supported insufficiently, made of the wrong material, or both! They also helped us get a water filter for the house, find a new, efficient water heater, and updated our garbage disposal. Travis is very knowledgeable and takes the time to make sure you understand everything he's suggesting and will walk you through common issues (like a tripped earthquake gas shut-off valve) to make sure you can help yourself as much as possible. My Company has been doing business with Cal-Tech Plumbing for the last 10 years. We work very closely with this company and have built a great relationship with Travis and his employees. That being said, Cal-Tech is one of the hardest working and dedicated contractors we have done business with. They take pride in their work and strive to make sure their customers are taken care of. There have been several times we have reached out to Cal-Tech to help us with emergencies after hours and Travis has always made it a point to assist us. One time in particular I called on a Saturday for an emergency with one of our industrial clients. Travis told me he just arrived in Sacramento but would leave to come assist us. We worked all weekend and into the next week to make sure our customer was able to start production as quickly as possible. We have always been able to count on Cal-Tech. He was very patient and explained everything he did about the replacement. With a few hours hard work, Travis finally puts the main water shut in a perfect condition! We really appreciate his help! I signed up to just to write this review. The first time I met Travis was some 15 years ago when he came to fix our shower control in our old house. I could see that he is very honest and very thorough. At that time he was working as a plumber but over the years, unknown to me, he had expanded to just about every work a house needs including building a new one. I wish I had known this because there was some work in my current house that I wish he had done. I am really upset that I did not get him to do it. Ever since I have learned about his new capabilities I have hired him to do just about every job. He replaced the sidings of my old house that I had put up for rent. I have to say he did an excellent job. The AC was leaking water in the ceiling and he got that fixed. Oh yes, the water heater had broken down and one guy said to replace it for $1400. Travis fixed it for like $200. I have to say that one might find him a bit expensive but he is fully worth it. His knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and construction is excellent. He knows why things work and why they fail. He knows the codes inside out and more. When ever I can get him to work on my projects I am fully comfortable and relaxed that the job will be done right. I had a somewhat non-typical plumbing job: backflow prevention installation for a new water meter in Hayward city. I have nothing but best to say about working with Travis. Travis was very responsive, updating me on each step, enthusiastic to double check with the city; work has been completed in no time and no stress. Starting from the estimate, the approach is very professional; payments after full completion of the work, including city test passing. I can't claim for sure about the pricing level as I only compared it to one other bid (of the same amount but way sloppier approach).. since the pricing is high in bay area in general, seemed reasonable; at the minimum I gained confidence that I won't be paying for any costly oversights in the future. read more

Pricing was reasonable. Kept my white carpets clean. Courteous. Professional. Responsive. Very competent and skilled. I'd recommend them to anyone. I had 3 toilets installed by Cal-Tech plumbing in November 2012. Travis and his assistant did a great job: removing the old toilets with no mess; installed the new toilets better than how the orig. builder installed the old toilets; replaced all angle stops from the kind that you have to keep turning, to the kind that turns 1/4 turn to turn on/off. All parts provided by them were very good quality parts - the kind I'd buy as a homeowner if I did the job myself. They understand most homeowners don't want to trade a few dollars here for headaches and many more dollars down the road. For the toilets, they installed extra wax seals in the 2nd floor bathrooms to make sure everything was tight and didn't leak below. They also anchored some anchor bolts that the original builder neglected. They also provided complementary assessment of all internal and external plumbing fixtures, etc. Helped ID some loose drain pipes and tightened on the spot. I originally asked them to help me plan out a new water heater, either tankless, or tank, high efficiency, etc. Travis provided detailed guidance and promptly sent follow up materials, etc. He was honest to provide feedback that I didn't need a new water heater, and just needed to flush out the one I had. read more

Cal-Tech plumbing gave highly professional service and top quality work. My bathroom had been flooded by the unit above me. I had to have everything taken out-the vanity, mirror, toilet, flooring. I shopped around and had 3 other plumbers/contractors do estimates on my bathroom and I was not pleased with their assessments and ideas. Cal-Tech plumbing showed great knowledge and experience as well as personal attention to detail and the particular needs and wants I had. They were very helpful in figuring out what design and layout would be best for my bathroom and my budget. I was clueless and honestly quite lazy to pick anything out. They made this process very easy for me and helped me choose the right vanity and tile for my bathroom. After a few trips to the hardware store, everything was picked out. The availability and scheduling were very convenient and worked around my schedule. The job was done quickly and even though additional things were done that had not been planned, Cal-Tech did a great job sticking to deadline. I had a new vanity, counter top, sink, and complete new tiling done in my bathroom. The vanity looked great, the caulking , placement and filling of space looked amazing. The onyx counter-top that was put in as well as the new faucet fixture was also done very well. The new tile looks and feels great and adds a lot more value to my condo! They also installed a new soap dish and shower head, which were all done quite quickly and professionally. Overall the quality of service and attention to detail showed immensely and made everything I paid for well worth it. I would highly recommend this company. Two thumbs (and even our big toes) way way up! If you've got problems with your plumbing, CAL-TECH is who you need to be calling. Our problem started in our master bedroom, when we noticed that our carpets felt slightly damp. My husband looked around and found a possible leak. We Yelped plumbers in our area and noticed the rave reviews on this company. We called Cal-Tech and spoke with Travis. He came the same day (it was the evening, too). Our first impressions of him was that he was completely and totally professional. He checked out the problem spots and discovered that our problem was larger than we anticipated. He gave us options as far as what services to go with (including other companies that he knows has good reputations that we needed to use as well) and gave us some time, without any pressure to decide. Travis was very patient with us, as we weren't able to get back to him right away. He checked up on us to see where we were in the decision making process and my husband and I finally had decided on what to do. On the day that he and his partner worked on our house, they were extremely thorough. The job done on our pipes behind the master bath sink, to fixing some minor issues with our master bath, to cleaning up (our stair case was actually cleaner after they left lol). Just amazing work. This guy is BEAST - let me tell you! I don't think he took any breaks! I had put out pizza, chips, and cookies. I think he only drank the water. The next day, one of the people Travis knows came by to repair the dry wall that was taken out as a result of the work he did. He also had to "re-popcorn" some other parts of our ceiling (not part of Travis' work). And even though Travis' part was done, he STILL came over to go over the quality of this guy's work! We had recently moved into a condo and have been battling low water pressure issues in one of the bathrooms for too long of a time. Travis came and assessed the situation and was able to let us know what we needed to do in order to remedy the problem. He installed a new pipe valve system to prevent mold, since our plumbing was initially installed backwards from previous owners, and made sure that the walls were properly sealed. Our shower had some type of paper thin covering that would do nothing to prevent mold or water leakage. We went from a shower with little to no hot water to an amazing shower that works. If there's an option for 10 stars, I would give it! I asked everyone I knew for a referral to change out my water heater. Nobody can say they loved their water heater guy. An idea popped into my head to ask a high producing real estate agent in my area for a referral, for surely they would know a good one. I was wrong. After I read the reviews on Yelp for the not-to-be-named referral, there were too many 1-star reviews for me to take a risk BUT it was a blessing in disguise. Why? Cal-Tech Plumbing happened to be listed right above it with 5-star reviews! I read the reviews and decided to contact them and see where it would take me. To my surprise, Travis is extremely responsive, informative, honest, detailed, and professional. After sending him photos of my water heater as instructed, he asked if I really want to change it out because it looked to be in good condition and I could probably use it for few more years. Most other contractors would have wanted the business instead of trying to encourage you to save money. I told him that while it was still working and has been for 12 years, I didn't want to take the chance of needing an emergency replacement should it die suddenly. Travis made time to come out for the job even though he was all booked. Initially I thought I'd have to wait at least 6 weeks but he squeezed us in within 10 days of us confirming an agreement to move forward with the project (granted it was a small job.) We received a detailed quote stating everything that would be done and we paid exactly that amount. Travis came out with Jose and got the job done within the time estimated even though we had no power thanks to PG&E. Cal-Tech stands behind their work and makes sure you are satisfied. We even got a followup text to ask if everything was working properly. Who even does that? So happy and lucky to have met Travis.
