After breaking down with two flat tires, I spent five hours calling seven different towing companies, and not a single one followed through. Most promised help in an hour, but I found out later that it would be a four-hour wait with no communication or updates. Then I called Cal-Nevada, and they were a total lifesaver. They arrived within 45 minutes and kept me updated the entire time, which gave me so much peace of mind. Michael was the driver who helped us--I couldn't believe it was his second day on the job! You would never know it, though. He was professional, calm, and incredibly compassionate. Shout out to Jacob!! He is such a nice kind person that helped me get my 4runner out of the snow. He was calm and made me feel so much better about the situation. These guys are great. Short story long, a vehicle of mine got towed from a spot that I had permission to park it. I wasn't aware of the tow until a few days later, and being that it was a weekend I had some troubles with my bank and was ultimately unable to get the vehicle out of impound. After some miscommunication with their main office in Sparks, I was at the point where I thought I was going to lose the vehicle and end up with a massive bill, but these guys were super understanding of my situation and went above and beyond to get me as sorted out as they could. No star if possible! To be told in the middle of the night on I-80 that they are on the their way when they had no intention of every leaving to find us. We were saved by the CHP! They towed our tiny boat and pushed us 7.5 miles to safety. When they found out how close the cabin was they pushed us the last 2 miles. They were life savers. They informed us that the tow companies in the area do not tow at night-ever! They said they'll call the CHP and say they couldn't find us. Thank you Cal-Nevada Towing and Richard! On the day we were scheduled to leave Truckee and return home to San Diego my van battery died. I have Road-Side Assistance through our car insurance, no big deal right? WRONG. Unfortunately, Progressive didn't have any available contracted service providers available until the next day. So I had the option to wait until the next day or secure my own service and submit a claim. I had called a few other places and there was not availability or it would be hours later (into the late afternoon) which wasn't going to work for us. Well Cal-Nevada Towing got someone out to us in 30 mins. Richard was amazing and so helpful. I admittedly, really lack any car repair knowledge and was very worried about the long roadtrip home with 2 kids and 2 dogs. Don't be rude when you call and you are trying to recover your belongings from it during their open hours. Post that you have to give a 45 minute window before being able to get into your car. Called Steve on a Sunday around 11:45am and he was able to pickup our truck from Alpine and get it to a mechanic in Truckee by 1pm. Early enough to have it repaired for our drive back to the Bay that night. We weren't able to have anyone with the vehicle during pickup which was no problem for him. Both AAA and our Insurance towing providers would have required someone to be with the car. Quick and reliable service. Would highly recommend. read more
