If I could give them ZERO stars, I would. Let me preface by saying that Mike, the manager is one of the most incompetent people I have ever dealt with. This company overcharges people and wants to hold on to your car as long as they can to continue charging you storage fee. Mike also asked that we "zelle" him money so we wouldn't dispute the outrageous prices that they charge, or maybe to avoid paying taxes. Some of the worst experience I ever had. These guys charge $280 per hour and they move like a snail. The jerk that helped me was a worse individual I ever came across. I forgot his name but on my paper he goes by CMP #97. This guy went in circle for god knows why and he moved probably 5 miles in 2 hours. I guess this guy thought money grows on trees. I ended up paying $420 because If he actually took me to my destination with the speed he was driving it would probably be over 1k. I told him to drop me off at a nearest hotel in Truckee. And this guy wouldn't even take my car off the ramp, I had to do it myself! It's like he enjoyed watching. F this guy and this company. We called our insurance for roadside assistance and waited for 2 hours with no confirmation on when someone would be there. Then we called several Truckee based tow operators and were told that the could help us THE NEXT DAY! Then we called Dependable Tow. They had a tow there for us and our 2 pit bulls within the hour! Travel Nightmare began when my girlfriend and her daughter were traveling from Reno to the CA Bay but got a late start before a big storm was going to begin. After putting on chains before Truckee they lost one and the other broke as advised by the check point. They were directed to the gas station at Donner Pass to buy new chains. Once they got their new chains installed this is where the nightmare really begins. As I read from another person my girlfriend used her Google Maps GPS. Google maps took her the wrong direction on Donner Pass road and took her away from the direction of the freeway. It was pitch black and she had no idea. About a mile down the road the snow was so thick that they became stranded on the road. THANK GOD she had cell service. I had her Google map again a hotel that she remembered passing and was able to get an approximate location since she had no idea what road she was on. After hours of waiting for the insurance company road side service to find her a tow truck and numerous calls to 911 who said "call a tow company" the insurance company called back 3 hours later and couldn't find a tow company to dispatch. We were now on our own. It was now 5 hours stranded in the vehicle. She became VERY CONCERNED (but her 11 year old daughter was very brave). Although she had a full tank of gas it was becoming a very serious situation. I too went into a controlled panic mode and started calling every tow truck company I could find all saying it would be at least 3 hours or more due to all the other vehicles in similar situations. Dependable Towing to the rescue.... I called Dependable at approximately 10:00 PM. I awoke Gailene and her husband and explained the seriousness of the situation. She got up out of bed and together we tried to pinpoint my girlfriends location on the mapping on her computer. She had a pretty good idea of where she was located and sent her husband out which was pretty close to their home. He found my girlfriend about 20 minutes later. He towed them back to a hotel near the freeway where they stayed the night. My girlfriend (And I ) are EXTREMELY GRATEFUL to Dependable for truly rescuing them. We are calling this nightmare "The Adventure" and because of Gailene and Edgar and their willingness to NOT turn their heads to what was truly a potential life threatening ordeal. By getting up and out of their warms beds to be GREAT Samaritans is truly an example that there our wonderful people in our world. God Bless and We are eternally grateful!!! Use AAA Instead! The drivers are kind, considerate and reliable! I was very disappointed today to see a driver from this company block a healthcare worker from coming into his shift at our local hospital. The driver was first asked very politely to move his truck since the only way out of the neighborhood was where his truck had just parked literally moments before. The other direction was blocked by plows. Sadly he told the healthcare worker "if you live there then why don't you just stay there." Everyone is working hard to take care of this community over the holidays including the healthcare workers. To take 10 or 15 seconds to move the truck forward so that someone can get out to get to work to help take care other people would be a reasonable thing to do. Unfortunately, he went about his business with zero regard whatsoever. We are all part of a community with many people working hard. It's no good for business when you sacrifice other community members to make your own buck. This is a special community it would be nice to keep it that way. read more

My car got flat tire during winter storm, as auto insurance was not able to find any towing service, I called 911 and they sent this guy to tow my car. He initially said he'll charge 1.5 hr rate without even touching the car and was ready to leave us in storm at night time until we pay what he's asking for. I had a flat tire in Palisades during a huge winter storm. Mike took a difficult situation and made it seamless for me. The driver, dealing with bad road conditions, eventually made it to my destination and took the car in for a new tire. The driver was friendly and took great care with my car. Six days later, I ended up in a pothole and couldn't get out. AAA would not assist and I once again called Mike. He was good natured and said he was close by and would assist. Mike was at my car within 30 min and may have spent 45 min getting my car out of the ditch and would not take payment. It's unusual these days to receive kindness and great service and through both instances, Mike could not have been more helpful. read more

North Valley Tow (use to be Dependable Tow) was awesome. After being stuck on I 80 in our rv for 4 days they got us up and running in a matter of hours. We had called Good Sam and the first tow company would not come and get us in the middle of the night. The next one said they had a mobile mechanic who could replace our serpentine belt and coolant recovery tank on the side of the road instead of being towed. Well $2600 and 3 days later we were still there and not even repaired. My husband called Good Sam again and said send someone who knows what they are doing. Edgar from North Valley towed our rv AND car trailer up to the Donner rest stop off of I 80. Then Mike, the owner, and Jack, his employee, had our serpentine belt on in 45 minutes. Then they followed us down to their shop and tow yard in Truckee to make sure everything was working properly. I was stuck high centered in the snow with two kids 5 miles up a dirt road in the mountains. The person I spoke with was so kind. He had me send photos and tried to help me get out of the mess I was in myself. When that didn't work, he sent someone to come up and pull me out. By the time the driver got to me, three more cars were stuck in the mud from the snow melt. The driver good-heartedly got all of us unstuck and back to steady ground. We own an STR home on the west shore. Over the new year's weekend our guest abandoned their rental SUV in our driveway - huge issue, impacting access for our shoveling and plow service, cleaning team and next guests. I spoke with Mike, and requested a tow to impound the car, after learning the CHP and Sheriff couldn't help in timely manner. He explained that he had too many calls to address for the rest of the day, but could come out the following day, and asked me to text him our address. He also said Dependable Tow would deal with the rental car company and make arrangements to return the car and that I would not have to pay anything to them myself. The next morning I contacted Dependable Tow and spoke with their dispatcher, a very helpful woman whose name I can't recall, but that morning she dispatched a tow truck and the SUV was removed. I don't even know where to begin. A group of my friends (Connie included who wrote a previous review that was deleted) and I decided to make a snow trip for my birthday. But after snowboarding we began to have car problems. As we are about to drive past the agriculture stop our car dies on us. We were lucky enough to get it in neutral and with the help of the kind workers we were able to push the car to a safe location away from moving vehicles. Then they told us we could push our car to the parking lot and then wait inside in the warm until our tow truck arrives.But we could not put it in neutral again and they told us it was fine and they got out safety cones for us. As we waited for our tow a police officer pulls up and gave us a hard time already and even gave my brother a dui check., which he passed. We then precede to tell the officer that we were calling a tow but he called us a tow anyways. Once the tow worker, Tim H., arrived the officer and him began to speak for about 10-15 mins. They then proceeded to tell us that the tow was 280$ an hour with no details what so ever. We told them no but the officer began to threaten to impound us. And as four young college students we did not know what to do. So we agreed. Once he had us hooked up (with us still remaining in the vehicle, completely illegal and I hope Tim loses his job because Of this) and dropped us off at the first exit. He told us the total charge was 280$. Like what? It took a max 20 mins for everything. And he told us it was a minimum of an hour. After I told him that he misinformed us completely he then told us it was from the time he left his company location to the time he returned. He told us that if he were to be even drop us off in a warm, safe, and secure location it would have been over an hour. The tow we had planned to call was already taking us to the nearest auto shop, to fix our car and to get us somewhere warm and safe (which was only 4 miles away). We refused to pay that amount and he said he would call back the highway patrol and they would impound us. So we decided to go with that instead and my brother said he was going to take legal actions since we never got his badge number. Tim threatened us and instead of calling the highway patrol he called his boss. They brought it down to 200$ but we still refused and they finally went down to 140$ but even that was ridiculous. Tim had no consideration for young adults who were far from home and just trying to get home instead he left us in a cold freezing location. Once our tow truck arrived we told him what happened and he was said what Tim and the officer did was not right. He told us we had the right to refuse which we did but because we were coerced we agreed. This whole incident was completely appalling. What Tim and the officer (wish we got his name) did was corrupt and beyond injustice. If this is how this towing company does business no one should call them. We did nothing wrong our car just died on the freeway and we moved it out of the way of vehicles and had planned for our own tow already.This whole situation was unnecessary. Instead of paying 65$ for our tow we had to pay Tim 140$ for a useless tow. Something needs to be done. Tim had also left a comment on Connie's review of this company saying we were lucky enough not to get a dui? Dui for what? We did nothing wrong, the officer gave the driver a dui test and he passed (because he was sober otherwise he would not have been able to replace an 2007 Honda Pilot alternator in an oreilly parking lot on the cold). It would have been unlawful for the officer to release a driver if suspected of a DUI. As citizens we did not feel served or protected. Just harassed and coerced. I also attach both receipts of the tows we had received that day as well. You can clearly see that we did not need Tims assistance at all. But yet we were grossly over charged. read more
