Best coffee I have ever had. Has been my favorite spot to get a white mocha for over 20 years. Service is great too!

Ordered a dirty chai, a mocha, a cortado, and a kids hot chocolate and they got to making them right away.

What a great find in Chico. Helpers always know the best places, so I'm glad I relied on you all! I…read moreordered the cheddar and chive biscuits with sausage gravy and two over medium eggs. It was pretty darned good! I thought I would be getting cheddar chive biscuits, but really it was biscuits with chives dry on top and cheddar melted over that. It was still good, though. And the gravy was very flavorful. The eggs were cooked perfectly. I really wanted to try the French toast because it sounded fabulous. But it didn't come with eggs or meat. I wish there were an option for a smaller version of the sweet dishes so you can get both! The staff members were friendly and the restaurant was clean. I wholeheartedly recommend this spot!

We started with drinks I got a chai latte and my friend got the watermelon refresher, both enjoyable. Next time I'll get it without the sprinkled cinnamon on top. I got the roasted potatoes with carnitas and eggs. The eggs were perfectly cooked over medium which is my favorite. The potatoes were beautifully roasted while soft on the inside. The pico de gallo also seemed fresh and flavorful. My friend got the chicken and waffles and felt the chicken was well seasoned and crunchy while still tender. We shared the bam bam waffle, it was very sweet, the black berry sauce was a good tart taste to balance out all the sugar. I will say that although the food was delicious and fresh, the price was a little higher than expected. An extra side of syrup was $2 more. A side of eggs(2) was $5. I shared the receipt. All and all I'm glad we stopped here on our way back to Sacramento. Great food.

Their food is so meh IMO. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I don't get the hype. The…read moreservice is super friendly though, and their diner-y vibe is nice. The food is just nothing to write home about - I could make it myself without much effort, for a much lower price, and just better. It used to be worth it to come in every now and then because their prices were so low, but just like everywhere else now, the prices are high and not worth it. A rave: I got food poisoning recently, NOT at Morning Thunder, but they were a contender. When I called to let them know, they handled it extremely well. They were surprised but said they would look closely at everything to make sure everything was safe and sanitary. (And yes, I did call to let them know when I confirmed it was not them.)

Best part? My gluten-eating family who could have gone ANYWHERE also loved their meals. No pity plates. Everyone won. Our college student requests this place every single time we visit which tells you everything you need to know. They don't have a car, so we are essentially their personal Uber and we are okay with it as long as we end up here. A rare and beautiful thing.

Vegetarian burrito sounded skeptical at first, but was actually really good; good size portion as well. Decent size to share. I scoured the menu and was excited to find so many hash choices. I was moved by the Irish Burrito, but ordered Linda's omelette; while my daughter went with the eggs Benedict. In a town that takes its breakfast seriously, and where I've probably worked my way through more menus and reviews than I should admit, this one quietly climbed right to the top of my list. My omelette was exactly what you want when you order one. Fluffy without being dry, full of flavor without trying too hard, and cooked like someone in the kitchen actually cares about eggs. The ingredients were balanced and fresh, not just thrown together as filler. The hollandaise sauce was original, I couldn't find a lemon, cheese or any other overwhelming base, it stood out. The hash was perfect. My daughter's eggs Benedict looked like a postcard version of what that dish should be. Perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise that didn't feel heavy, and ham that actually tasted like ham instead of just salt delivery. One of those plates where you steal a bite "just to try it" and immediately understand the decision. The real surprise for me was the potato pancake I picked instead of the usual hashbrowns. Light, airy inside, crispy outside, and seasoned just right. Honestly one of the better breakfast potatoes I've had anywhere. If potatoes had a hall of fame, this one would at least get a nomination. The place itself has a warm, comfortable feel. Wood tones, rooster themes everywhere, a relaxed local energy where people look like regulars and first-timers feel welcome anyway. Service was friendly and efficient without feeling rushed. In a city full of strong breakfast spots, this might actually be my current favorite. That's not something I say lightly.
