I had never taken a cooking class, and honestly never even thought about taking one, but he spoke so highly about them that I knew I had to try it out. He was totally right and I'm so glad I didn't miss out on this experience! I had the honor of having Gianni as our teacher. He was so sweet, super funny, and just really made everyone feel comfortable. His awesome personality is really what makes the class extra fun. We started off in the market, and he's like the mayor there. Everyone knows him and it was cool to try sample some of the local foods. The classes are small, which is a big plus! You get individual attention to make sure you're actually doing things correctly. He had two assistants the day I was there; they were really nice and extremely helpful. I really learned a lot of things in this class that I will keep with me throughout life. The whole time we were learning, I kept realizing I had been cooking so many things wrong for so long. The food was delicious! We spent a few hours cooking and then got to enjoy each other's company while we ate our meal. The time flew by so quickly. I actually could have stayed for the second class, lol. Thank you so much for a great experience. You guys absolutely rock.

This was our favorite activity we did in Rome! The class was very interactive, educational, and entertaining. Gianni was our teacher and he was so much fun. It was all hands on deck so everyone got to practice and make our own servings. Everytime I come to Rome I will do this class again as well as tell anyone I know visiting to make sure to get their reservation at Cook with Us in Rome before they plan anything else! Oh and by the way the food at the end was so delicious!!!

You have to email and there was a lot of back and forth, pay with PayPal and such but it was absolutely worth it! We were a group of nine and all contributed in making such an amazing meal! First, Monika explained to us we would be making ravioli and cavatelli pasta. We started by chopping zucchini and shallots and de-seeding tomatoes (the seeds make it too acidic.) Everyone took turns separating the egg yokes for the tiramisu and then it was time to make the pasta dough! Everyone had the chance to make either the egg or flour dough for the two pastas. My absolute FAVORITE part was making the cavatelli. You use a tiny ridged board and roll the dough down the board. SO FUN AND CUTE! We worked together in stretching the dough (with the help of the pasta wheel maker) as we all circled around the room! Truly a wonderful experience and team effort! I don't know how chefs do it everyday! In the end, we all sat down together and enjoyed our DELICIOUS food. Extra bonus points for keeping everyone's wine glasses full and taking pictures of all the precious moments! Thank you so much for a truly unforgettable experience!

The highlight of an already incredible trip to Italy, Fabulous Cooking Day was indeed fabulous in…read moreevery single way! If you are considering taking a cooking class, don't go with those cheap classes where you watch someone prepare pizza. In this class, you are 100% participating in the preparation of what turned out to be a delectable 5 course meal that I'd pay good money for at a restaurant. We started by stopping at several small local markets where Chef Fabio would select vegetables, meat, cheese and other ingredients based on what was fresh and looked good. As we navigated the streets, I took in the incredible grandeur of Roman Architecture along the way with our final stop the Jewish Ghetto. Chef Fabio filled us in in the important historical aspects of this area. He also shared info on current events, like how covid affected the markets and restaurants. When our shopping was complete, we continued our walk over the bridge of the River Tiber to a small island in the Jewish Ghetto where his apartment is located. We actually cooked in his kitchen!! It was set up perfectly for a class. But the apartment itself, a stunning mix of super modern decor in an old apartment built in and incorporating ancient ruins was another surprise treat! Curves and arches everywhere with a window looking out onto the courtyard and another to the arched bridge and flowing Tiber River. Stunning in every way! This environment, the fact that we were cooking in this setting most definitely added to the uniqueness and fabulousness of the experience. He even took us to the rooms below the kitchen and dining area which are literally built in the ancient caves. Mind blown! We made several courses and were all prepping and making various components. Although we each made the three types of pasta. Like a maestro conducting a symphony, Chef Fabio directed us flawlessly and we sat down to enjoy the meal. First with a toast to the chefs! Us! For our meal we made and enjoyed: - Cavatelli pasta with a radicchio, blue cheese and walnut sauce. Such unique flavors coming together with the perfect balance. - Potato gnocchi with creamed artichoke sauce and crispy guanciale - Spinach and ricotta ravioli with a sauce made from parmigiana reggiano and pasta water. So creamy and absolutely divine. - Veal Saltimboca with a side of potato fried in freshly seasoned breadcrumbs and pecorino Romano - Strawberries with balsamic vinegar Everything was delectable, the perfect balance of flavors made with fresh, quality ingredients. While Chef Fabio didn't hand out recipes, I learned the techniques and feel confident that I can make everything. I can't wait to make the cavatelli shaped pasta, which is my favorite pasta shape and one my Nana made fresh on Sundays. So many memories and for mastering the roll and shape of cavatelli, it alone was worth the $130 euros! The gnocchi was surprisingly simple and fast to make and unlike the heavy gnocchi often served in restaurants, these were light pillows of Heaven. I'll probably make with a Sorrento sauce of tomatoes, basic and mozzarella. While I came to the class on my own, the two other couples also attending were just lovely. We all got along and had fun while we cooked and then shared stories and conversations as we ate our meal. Isn't that what food does? Connect and bind people? Chef Fabio was beyond fabulous! He runs the class like a well oiled machine. Giving clear directions. Showing techniques. Cleaning boards and tools along the way. Plus he also shares stories and conversations so it feels like an intimate experience. I must also give a shout out to Pablo who was busy cleaning and serving, keeping the kitchen clean which kept us on schedule. This class was a highlight of my fantastic trip and I am so happy I chose the five hour Fabulous Cooking Day Class out of the dozens of options online. A friend recommended it and now I'm recommending it to you. Mangia!

They offer everything from food tours, cooking classes, bar crawls, dinner parties, and much more. This was our first time using BonAppetour, and we were so pleased. We will definitely try them again in other cities around the world. We read thru the listings on their website for Rome and chose Alessandro, who was offering a truly Roman feast overlooking the Vatican City. Alessandro is a personal chef and sommelier. It was very easy to make these arrangements with him online. He was extremely responsive to our every question. We knew we were in for a real treat, and he did not disappoint us. He really paid attention to our requests and prepared a dinner for us that perfectly suited our tastes. He gave us wonderful directions to his home. (We were able to take a bus from our apartment to his home.) We were warmly greeted by Alessandro, who we will now call Tony, because we are friends forever. It was a lovely evening so we dined al fresco on a delightful, covered patio. He even had a heater in the event it got cold. Since it was just the two of us and Tony, we sat for a while and got to know each other. We were thrilled to learn how he became a chef and sommelier. He offered us a white wine called Trebbiano from the Sant'Andreas Winery (about 1-1/2 hours south of Rome), which he explained was one of his favorites and he was so surprised to learn that we had visited that same winery three days previously. Tony is the consummate chef - he is really into making his guests have a wonderful food experience. He makes everything and uses the freshest, local, seasonal ingredients available. Our dinner started with bruschetta (a crunchy bread with tomatoes) - a perfect start. This was followed by a delicious risotto with artichokes. Artichokes were in season, and this risotto was light and full of flavor. What made this dinner even more special was that Tony dined with us. We were delighted when Tony's girlfriend joined us - we really enjoyed the stimulating conversations. Our main course was delicately prepared chicken slices in an orange sauce accompanied by a fennel salad with oranges. The dessert for us was a banana cake with strawberries - a terrific finish to a perfect meal. Everything was beautifully prepared and presented. Ah, but we were not finished. Their final act of kindness was to present us with Limoncello made from the lemon trees growing right next to where we were seated. If you come to Rome and want to have a unique dining experience, book an evening with Alessandro. You will not be disappointed. We had a great time!

We went as a group of 6, and booked our class a few months prior to arriving. We met the instructor at our designated time, and took a quick 1 minute walk down to a restaurant. The restaurant is rented by Devour to host the class during its non-operating hours. There were two instructors. One of which was Fernanda (sp?) There were about 16 people total in our class, everyone was broken up into small tables of 4. All the other guests were very friendly. **The Instructors They were phenomenal! Ive taken several different cooking class and this was by far the best teachers ive ever had. They were both hilarious and so knowledgable on food! They gave us general cooking tips and what ingredients to look for when recreating dishes at home. They also taught us so much about food in Italy, such as what ingrediners are best to try in different regions and things to look for/avoid when trying gelato. They even shared a long categorized list of recommended places after class that was so helpful to us for the rest of the trip. **The Food They started the class by providing us glasses of wine and suppli from a local restaurant. We made fresh fettuccine and the instuctor (with the help of some students) made a big pan of Amartiana sauce. They also made fresh cantaloupe gelato for us. Everything was phenomenal. Even though the pasta was made by us amateurs it was up there in one of the best Amartcianas we had all trip!
