I booked a Colosseum guided tour through LivTours for my family during a long planned trip to Rome,…read moremeant to celebrate my son's graduation from Lehigh University and my daughter's high school graduation. Instead of a memory to celebrate, we left with one none of us will forget for the wrong reasons. LivTours guides do not give guests individual paper tickets. The guide holds all admission on an electronic ticket and hands each guest a small sticker as the only proof of entry. On an extremely hot day, my sticker came loose. Our guide walked ahead with two other guests to the bookshop and, by her own account, only glanced back and saw our group heading toward the exit. She never confirmed we actually made it out and never checked that each of us still had proof of admission. When I reached the exit checkpoint, staff asked for my ticket. I had none, because LivTours never gave me one. I was told it was illegal to be in that area without a valid ticket, pulled aside, and questioned. The police were called. I stood there while my wife and children watched and had to step in to try to help me. My wife eventually pulled up our purchase receipt on her phone, and that is the only reason I was allowed to leave. LivTours admitted in writing that the guide saw our group heading toward the exit and left without confirming we made it out. She did not secure our exit. She did not check that everyone in the group actually cleared the checkpoint before she walked off with two other guests to the bookshop. Making sure a group actually exits a controlled site, not just watching them walk in that general direction, is a basic responsibility of a tour guide, especially one holding the only ticket that gives that group the right to be there in the first place. As an African American man in a foreign country, being publicly stopped, questioned, and detained by police in front of my family was humiliating in a way that is hard to put into words. This was supposed to be a trip celebrating my children's accomplishments. Instead they watched their father get pulled aside like a criminal because a tour guide walked away without making sure we had what we needed to leave. A LivTours representative called me shortly after and told me directly that a refund would be issued. Weeks later, after I put the complaint in writing, LivTours reversed course completely. They now claim the tour was "completed as planned" and that the incident was outside their control. Their own emails contradict that. They admit their guide saw us walking toward the exit and left without confirming we got out safely. They admit they do not provide physical tickets to guests. Those two facts together are exactly why this happened, and it happened because of how LivTours operates, not because of anything my family did. I would not recommend LivTours for any tour requiring facility exit past a checkpoint. Ask directly whether you will receive an individual physical ticket before you book, and get it in writing. Also far too much time was spent on his binder of web photos. I'm not sure what company this guide was contracted through (as I'm fairly certain The Roman Guy uses third parties now, which is different from the first time I used them a few years ago), but TRG needs to review the fluency of their guides. This was my third tour of the Colosseum over the past few years and it was a complete waste of money. It was supposed to be only an hour and after 90 minutes of not comprehending a word we finally left. Since the official Colosseum site makes it not easy to secure tickets directly, I'm just viewing the whole experience as an overpriced entry ticket. Many people in our group just took their earpieces off after a certain point. Regarding the actual tour booking and the days leading up to it, I received a message a few weeks prior stating that the tour could not happen at the scheduled time due to operational issues, and would I be open to coming later in the day? They asked me to choose an option (which there was no second option presented but I presumed it was a refund) so I told them I would just take the refund as we had a flight to catch during the revised time. They wrote me back immediately and said that "they were just checking on if I could take the new time but the scheduled time is still fine". Very confusing, is it cancelled for operational reasons or not? The whole thing was just odd and I won't be booking again.

A few months before leaving, a couple reached out looking for someone to share the cost of a golf cart tour around Rome on August 24, 2023. BINGO, we'e in! NARRATIVE: On August 24, 2023. My wife and I traveled from our hotel and headed to the Trastevere area of Rome to meet up with the other couple and our Rolling Rome golf cart tour driver Beatrice. Our tour began around 7pm and we were driven to some of Rome's most visited and popular spots, and a few not so popular spots which were all welcomed to see sights. Our driver and guide Beatrice spoke several languages, English included and explained the history behind the sites she showed us. The tour lasted approximately three hours and we were dropped off back where our tour had begun. SCENE: The Rolling Rome Golf Cart Tour was done using a six passenger golf cart. The driver and our guide spoke great English, Spanish and Italian. The cost per couple was approximately $160 US dollars or about 140 euros per couple. RECOMMENDATION(S): If you're in Rome and short on time, this tour is a must do.

This tour was worth the money spent. First, you catch the train and meet with the tour guide. My tour guide was Max. He was super knowledgeable and had funny jokes throughout the tour. He's a local and has traveled to many countries outside of his town of Frascati. We take a little tour of the town and he gives some history and we went into some shops and the main church there. Next, we stopped into a bakery and sampled some cheap, house wine (as he calls it) that is saved for families to drink with some sweet cookies. We were instructed to dip the cookies in the wine. Delish! Prior to that we got a little same of roasted pork with the wine as a light snack. Then a taxi comes to pick us up and take the group to the vineyard. We tour the vineyard and take awesome pictures. There's an awesome view of Rome from the vineyard. We then went into the cellar where the wine is stored and got a very detailed tour of the underground and the winemaking process. Next, we enter the tasting room. We received 3 (1 white, q red , 1 dessert wine) quality Frascati wines paired with a white pizza, red sauce pizza and bread. Olive oil that they also make at the vineyard is on the table to sample. Throughout each wine tasting, Max teaches about the wine. Lastly! The taxi returned to take the group to have lunch at a local restaurant back in the town. We received an appetizer of arugula, sautéed zucchini, I think a sautéed mushroom and some meat. Then we got a small portion of a red sauce pasta and then a carbonara with bacon bits (they had pairings and lunch options for anyone who was vegetarian as well). I was just enough food to leave me satisfied. I really enjoyed this tour! The tour is from about 10:30am to 2pm (you can catch the 2:36pm train back to termini or stay and enjoy the town until about 9pm when the last train comes). The small group setting was great for a nice intimate tour, easy picture taking and getting all your questions in. There were 9 people in my group but the tour has a 15 person max. I booked this tour super last minute on my way from Spain and they were accommodating. My only con was email response was a bit slow. I just showed up in hopes I was confirmed. I'm so glad I went! I believe you can only pay in cash, so be mindful of that. Bottles of the red and white wines are 10€ and the dessert wine is 15€ (if I remember correctly). Wine purchases are in cash as well.
