Communicated with staff via email and the exchange was delightful. They recommended two options for a smaller version of our original wedding cake and even accommodated a last-minute time change for pickup. Everyone who works there is so on-top of helping anyone in store it was very sweet. There's a reason why this small business has been around for decades! We chose the toffee cake with salted caramel icing. The cake was delivered as expected on time and looked like the picture. The cake was a bit difficult to slice but we were deliberate in selecting a cake to feed 64 people and didn't want to pay extra for a 2nd layer cake. My car at angle still hit the driveway going in and I did not want to risk further damage so I parked in the street. Went in and was greeted. Looked clean. The trays were stacked at the entrance and had traces of crumbs so I don't think they are washed between transactions...Lots of pinsas. Good selection but some of the common panes were not offered such as Ojo De Pancha or the pan that looks like a concha but has more of the sugar on top, and cema. The conchas that are offered are medium sized. Bigger than minis but smaller than the grocery store options. I asked if they had minis and was told they are made to order for catering. Had some breads I hadn't seen before and picked some out that are pictured to try. My favorite of the new tries was the very thin one towards the bottom. It had a piloncillo taste! The elites were also medium sized and the orange filling that is sometimes skimped on by some bakeries. It was good but could have used some more canela/spice just like the concha. Concha was good but was missing a little more flavor. Oreja was on the smaller size but good. The majority of the bread is $1.25 and some is $1.50. A bit much for how much smaller the breads are compared to the other local panaderias. Will be going back to try the tamales next time and get some more of that thing bread.

Fast forward to the week of my event, I followed up to confirm pickup--only to be told there was no order because they "never received my reply." I understand that technical issues can happen, but this left me scrambling last minute to find an alternative for an event I had been planning. While I did receive an apology, I was also told it's "unrealistic" to follow up with customers who don't respond. Unfortunately, in situations like this--especially when it involves custom orders and time-sensitive events--some sort of confirmation system or follow-up would go a long way in preventing exactly this kind of issue. Not to mention I only ordered a dozen of cookies and was still not accommodated after showing I did respond well in advance. Overall, this experience was frustrating and stressful. I can't speak to the quality of the cookies, but from a customer service and communication standpoint, this was very disappointing.

The host had organized everything with the staff. The store was kind enough to teach our class after store hours. Thank you staff you rock. They have candy mold, chocolate melts in many colors, cake toppers, an array of cookie cutters. I even bought bulk pretzel sticks. With the clear packaging I could see that the pretzels were in perfect condition none were cracked for the treats that I wanted to make for a Halloween camping event. Because I don't live in this area I made quite the purchase that included the tools to make the cake pops we made in class! The instructor and assistant, Danielle and Vivian were outstanding and patient with our group of ladies. We got to meet Wendy another team member of Pila's and also got to meet the wonder. Great customer service with each of them. I would love to take a look at some of the other classes they offer! I would definitely make the drive. The vibe in this store is awesome, yes I will be back. Oh, and they offer tasty and beautiful candied apples! I forgot to take pics. Trust me they're pretty delicious looking! We got one, but I had forgotten it. But I was told by some of the gals in the group that it was tasty.
