Firstly she seemed bothered because I asked her to explain pricing to me since heir website isnt mobile formatted. I went over pricing with her for some cakes And when I asked her to make my 1 year old a smash cake in the shape of a boob to celebrate a year accomplished of breastfeeding she told me "we don't support nudity or make crude cakes" Breastfeeding? The lady at the counter was super nice and very detail oriented. She didn't shame us for wanting to order a cake same day. I know most bakeries require ordering at least 24 hours in advance. We had an initial idea of what we wanted but she took that and built on it. And it turned out exactly how we wanted it simple and beautiful. #2) FLAVOR: we ordered a chocolate cake with the cream cheese type filling and frosting. It was moist and flavorful. First off, their cake will probably be the best cake you've ever eaten. We only had a couple of pieces of cake left over for my daughter's 2nd birthday party *the one with the relatives), so we decided to get some expensive Nadia Cupcakes (which won Cupcake Wars) in addition to the cake. The cake from Cake Box bakery was much preferred over the Nadia cupcakes. We still have some cupcakes left over but the cake is long gone. But the taste isn't the best part of Cake Box's cakes. They are unbelievably beautiful! My 5 year old daughter couldn't decide whether to have Darth Vader or Sophia the First on her cake (she has diverse tastes). So I asked Cake Box bakery to incorporate both. I fully expected the resulting cake to look kind of silly. Instead, it was easily the most amazing looking cake I've ever seen. They were somehow to incorporate both images and just make it work together along with the birthday greeting. It was truly a work of art. I've included a picture of the cake on Cake Box's photos, so you can see what I mean. I also took a picture of the cake and sharedit on my Facebook page, and received the most likes I've ever received (including when my children were born). Everywhere I looked to order a picture cake required a 3 day notice. Not at Cake Box. I called on a Friday morning and they said they can have it ready by Saturday noon. I described what I wanted and I didn't have to send them a picture and they knew who BTS was. Sadly I squished the cake. But they had it ready by 11am. I think the cost was reasonable.$37 for a 9 inch that fed 9 people with a slice left over. I also bought iced cookies and they were pretty as well but really pricey for $10. read more

Got a carrot cake off the shelf. Was told it was gonna be amazing and that people speak of it to this day. It was just OK. The actual cake was mediocre. It could use more moist-ness, maybe raisins. The cream cheese frosting was very good though- light, sweet, creamy. However The orange of the drawn carrots were starting to bleed into frosting. I really was hoping to like this cake and bakery but feel like the quality and cost was comparable to something I could get from Cub or Hyvee. In fairness I did not do a customized cake and it looks like they put a lot of care and craft into designs. I'm not sure if I'll go back because to me, first and foremost, the product has got to be impressive for a return visit. Still looking for a delicious bakery and phenomenal carrot cake. The yellow cake was great and the white frosting was not too heavy or sweet. I am typically a person that scrapes the frosting off bakery cakes because it gets to be too much, so I appreciated the lightness. I brought my suggested design in late on a Friday and they had it ready for me the following Sat. Afternoon. The one bummer is they quoted me a price on the phone, but then ended up charging me more once I was there in person. Regular 1/4 sheet cakes run about $24 with additional $6-$12 for special designs. I called the Cake Box a couple of weeks ago to order a cake that they have made several times before. When calling this time it was NOT a good experience. I wanted to order a white layer cake with cream cheese frosting and coconut on the top. The lady who answered the phone and whoever she spoke to while I was on the phone were rude and obnoxious. Whoever she was yelling to in the "back room" said that I would need to pay for the cake up front, very rudely, since it called for coconut (never had that issue before when ordering it!). I told the lady not to bother. Geez, I could have just dropped of a bag of coconut for them to use if the expense of it was such a burden.
