First time coming here and it was a cute spot. Never even heard of it prior to. Glad I came to check it out. Today a group of Yelpers met here before our street clean up and had our breakfast outside. They had options from the bakery window such as donuts and bars, muffins to breakfast sandwiches and bowls. I had a GF muffin. I was happy to see that had a few gluten free goodies to choose from. They don't have any gluten free bread. However, my fellow Yelpers that did choose breakfast sandwiches..ohhh my they looked amazing!! The bread was so bread, it looked heavy , home made and nothing like a fresh made sandwich. I was in Middletown this weekend and remembered that I've wanted to visit Cake Batter & Roll since I learned about it on Yelp and/or Instagram. It's located near Main Street in downtown Middletown. The shop is cute and service was exceptional. CRB sells desserts, baked goods, bread and made to order cakes. Although I posted a pic of 3 year old Lila's birthday cake, it was not my cake and I wasn't invited to the party. Lila apparently didn't think I was cool enough. Maybe next year. Very cool cake though. I would want one of my friends or family members to have a cake that cute. I also did not have one of the Super Bowl team color cake push pops. I tried to order one, but they were only displayed for pre-sale. They looked great though. We did order a turtle brownie, a salted caramel bar, a blueberry muffin, a churro bar and a loaf of rye bread. Our family split a number of these things. I thought the brownie, caramel bar and blue berry muffin were all terrific. The bread and churro bar didn't really connect for me. The bread was not what I would call a traditional rye. It was denser and seemed a touch pumpernickelly in flavor. CRB had other breads that looked good though. The churro bar didn't remind me enough of a churro to warrant the name and there was a dense cheesecake type layer that needed more of an identity. Overall, there was more great, than not great though. I would definitely recommend Cake Batter & Roll if you're in Middletown. They have some tasty desserts and they can make gorgeous stuff. We saw this food truck It was the artistry on the truck that caught my eye. Then it was the churro that caught my tastebuds. The food truck had 2 "lunch" choices and 4 dessert choices. My girlfriend and I were in the mood for desserts after seeing the name "Cake, batter, and roll", making us think of cupcakes. We were pleasantly surprised to find dessert waffles instead. We got the churro and texmix options. The texmix was topped with brownie pieces, nuts and what seemed to be an exquisite homemade whipped cream. Delicious and satisfying. The churro spoke to my soul and satisfied my inner fat kid cravings. My girlfriend had to try to convince me for 10 min not to get a second because we still needed to eat dinner. We had such a fun breakfast meet up this morning before our Pride Street Clean Up with Cinder + Salt! It's such a fun/cute gem of a place, truly. Being it is Pride month, we all had to try either a obligatory rainbow cookie or rainbow cake pop. Delicious, of course. Big smile. For breakfast a couple of us had the Sausage, Egg and Cheese Braid- puff pastry filled with Scrambled Egg, Sausage crumbles and Cheddar. It definitely was some good fuel to start the day and some very tasty fuel I might add. I saved half for later and it was still tasty a little cold. It came out piping hot :) I can't wait to go there again when I am in Middletown. My next thing to try will be the Croque Madam- puff pastry, Bechamel, Ham, Gruyere and Egg. That sounds delicious too! Oh and also- for lunch- the Buffalo Chicken Melt-white Bread (grilled), Cheddar, pulled Buffalo Chicken, minced Carrot, Celery and Blue Cheese is delicious I hear as well! Came here before a Yelp event and was so pleased! The staff was super friendly and there were many clearly marked vegan options. I got a funfetti bar but they also had a blueberry bar that looked fantastic. They have gluten free options as well if you need that. I don't think they have espresso drinks, but I also got an iced coffee which I enjoyed :) read more

Cute new bakery in Middletown. We've been in a few times, twice for special orders and once just to buy some goodies. Also had some of their strawberry champagne cake at Bergenhouse and that was fabulous! Lots of vegan options, if that's your thing. This is the place to go if you want a delicious sweet treat. The staff is friendly, and it's a hidden gem. Snuggled in down a short staircase next to a boutique and a parking garage is a place that offers some yummy morsels of 'homemade' goodness. Not really part of my master plan while on Weight Watchers, but great for a cheat day. Today we tried their take on the Fluffernutter and the Twix. You get this massive 'splittable' sweet treat with layers of different flavors. The Twix bar was outstanding and had layers of shortbread, caramel, and chocolate. The coffee served up here is equally good, and I've also had a breakfast sandwich before. But the star this place offers is the sweets. It's a nice place to sit inside or take it on the go. Tucked into the side of a parking structure in downtown MT, Cake Batter and Roll can be easy to miss, but try it once and I'm sure you'll have its geotags memorized. It's the latest addition to the bakery/ grab & go scene and offers a wide selection of breads, bars, pastries, sandwiches, wraps and other health-conscious options. What I appreciated most was that everything is made from scratch. There are also plenty of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian choices for those who have food sensitivities or are looking to be more plant-based. I tried the Breakfast Grain Bowl (V, GFF), the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Braid, the Veggie Tart and a Blueberry Bar. While I enjoyed the bowls and savories, my favorite was the blueberry bar. It's incredibly dense, hefty, stuffed with blueberries and surprisingly, gluten-free! I don't think I would have been able to tell it was gluten-free if I hadn't read the labels. Someone recommended we stop in this little bakery so we set off on a rainy Saturday morning. It's a cute little shop with lots of tasty looking baked goods. We opted for breakfast which was very good. Mine was puff pasty topped with ham, bechamel sauce, Gruyère cheese, and a runny egg. My wife got the breakfast grain bowl with quinoa, spinach, sautéed onion peppers, and an egg on top. Breakfast was delicious the coffee was good and I wish we had bought some of the baked goods. We did get some hot chocolate bombs which we can't wait to try! Definitely a little gem just off the main drag. read more

Just popped by Cake, Batter, & Roll Food Truck on our way home for a walk and I'm so happy we did! We ordered the Tux-e-Dough and the Churro waffles... YUM!! They were so delicious I forgot to take a photo of them before we devoured them lol. My personal favorite was the Churro with the fresh creama on top; so flavorful, but also not dense and overly sweet. A family member got cupcakes here for a party over the weekend, they were dry and the tops were hard. There was no moisture in them, I'm not sure if they were made in bulk and froze or just poorly made and an ingredient was missed. The frosting was their only saving grace but even that was pushing it because even looking at them you could tell where they weren't frosted that the tops were hard and not soft like typical cupcakes. They were more like stale muffins. I would not recommend purchasing cupcakes here. I previously bought a cake here last summer that I called in ahead of time and ordered and had an equally poor experience with. Had my family member consulted me I would have gladly warned them to not purchase baked goods here. I did previously write a review about my bad cake experience but am not able to find it so I wonder if they had it removed since I cannot believe all of these reviews to be true since I have now had two poor experiences here. This place has become overrated pretty quickly. The "Cookie Experience" is actually a waffle experience. You'll get cookie dough pressed (and burnt) in a waffle iron. Good luck tasting your chosen ingredients over the taste of burnt dough. Also tried the churro custard bar, which was dry. That there were only two of them remaining in the case should have been my clue that they weren't very fresh, but I took a chance. I guess that one's 50% on me. Parking is tricky, though you may find a metered spot on the street. The meters don't start until 10am, so if you can get there earlier, it's nothing to worry much about. The employee was nice and answered all my questions. It's no fault of hers; I just found the experience here underwhelming. read more

We were there yesterday for the first time. We visited their food truck a couple of years ago & were very impressed with their waffle! Lindsey is a super nice woman & we bought a bag of 2 different loaves of bread & a whole host of danishes & muffins. We are currently enjoying them now. Her store was really colorful & neatly laid out. I was impressed! Plenty of offerings were available. We'll be going back for sure! She even has farm eggs for sale too. We are strong supporters of local businesses & especially woman, minority run businesses. read more
