The customer service was great with the staff on the line taking the time to record our order and be patient with us asking questions. I got the shrimp and grits and my mom the gumbo. Also, the bingets came recommended, so we ordered those as well. Arriving at Orleans is just like walking in downtown New Orleans, the bright colors and historical touches transports you there! Upon stepping in you receive a warm welcome from the staff. To go orders are picked up at the other side of their bar. Since I ordered an entree I also got a trip to the salad bar, so I got a chance to check out their spacious restaurant and bar--again a nice tribute to NO! My shrimp and grits were good, but a little too cheesy and runny. Also, I wish that they would have come in a bowl versus a box. My mom mentioned her gumbo was a little salty, but had some good flavor to it. The bingets also were delicious and made a great little snack! The next time I am in town I will come back and eat it.

We walked in and were greeted and seated. It was a hot day and it was open air seating. It took our bodies about 15 minutes to adjust, and become comfortable. Our server was Edward aka Bubba. He was very personable, knowledgeable, and efficient. We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer, and were given a very generous portion. Bubba also added a complimentary crawfish and grits dish that was awesome. My wife ordered the fried catfish , and ordered the blackened Mahi. Both dishes were prepared to perfection, and presented tastefully. We received our order in a very reasonable time. We wanted dessert but they were out. Check this out though, when they do have dessert it is on the house. At Pop's Place the prices are very fair, the portions are over the top, and the service was on point and very hospitable. During the wait, I asked our server twice what was taking so long. Both times, I was told that they had a large party on the patio. While I understand that large parties can put additional pressure on a kitchen, that really shouldn't come at the expense of other customers who were seated and ordered before or around the same time. If the restaurant isn't able to accommodate a large party while maintaining reasonable service for other guests, there should be better planning and communication. What made it even more frustrating was watching other tables around us receive their food before we did. When I questioned the delay, the response was essentially that "some food takes longer than others." I understand that certain dishes may take more time to prepare, but waiting over an hour without any proactive communication or explanation was disappointing. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, the experience left a poor impression. I really wanted to enjoy the restaurant and give it a fair chance, but based on the service we received, I highly doubt we'll be returning. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because customers shouldn't have to repeatedly ask about their food after waiting that long.
