    We chose number 6! Delicious

Last night we went for the first time! Upon arrival we were greeted and served by Michelle. Such a warm welcoming and so full of energy. She patiently answered our questions. We truly enjoyed the evening- great food and they even had a musician from Tennessee. We will return. Highly recommended, ask about their specials!

    Not too great this time

I have been to this place before and it used to be good. This time, we were greeted by bad vibes. The waiter was very scattered, like he didn't want to help us. We ordered the combination with 1lb or crawfish and 1lb of snow crabs. We had the hardest time cracking our crab legs without a cracker and someone other than our waiter said they had a shortage... there were only 8 people total dinning there. Its pretty ridiculous that a crab place has run out of crab crackers. The BOOM sauce was way too salty - not how it used to be. Also, we were given so many inedible crawfish claws that had no body attached to it. Its like we got the bottom of the barrel and got all of the claws which you cant be doing when we are paying by the pound. Also they no longer serve potatoes and corn with the combination bag which seems silly since its called a combination Also our bag had one smushy broccoli jn it - not sure where it came from! Overall poor experience. So sad this place went downhill.

The Kraken. Snow crab, shrimp, clams, crawfish, mussels, potatoes and corn on the cob.

First time here and we were really impressed! We got fried crab claws for an appetizer, they were pricey but really good. My wife and I shared a large Kraken which was more than enough for the two of us. It was a mix of snow crab, shrimp, crawfish, clams, mussels, corn on the cob and potatoes. We got the medium hot Cajun spice, it was divine! Our server Josh was very friendly and attentive, as well as the rest of the staff. So glad we came here, and this crab and seafood loving man can't wait to go back!

I have been here lots of times.... Probably once a week if I can!!! I love their seasoning that goes into the boil bag. I typically get 2lbs of seafood, the boom flavor at level fire. What you see in the picture is blue crab(my favorite), whole shrimp(also my favorite), and crawfish(ok my favorite too). Eat it with white rice to balance everything out! I'm telling you, if you love seafood, this place will not disappoint whether it is take out or dine in. Oh! And the staff there are super kind and always quick!

    Over charged

Bad experience. Got left on hold after they failed to say anything about being out of crawfish until after they said the order was ready and they took the money and I got there to pick it up. Ended up subbing for some crab and it was 30 dollars less than I paid already but they said they can't do anything about refunding the difference. Got real rude on the phone about it. Overall this was a horrible experience. I don't know if it was a bad night or what but the customer service was trash and super disrespectful. Definitely gonna make a longer trip somewhere else next time to get seafood.

Our first visit did not disappoint. Anne and I were joined for lunch by a friend that we had not seen in close to sixty years. We're here in our hometown for three or four weeks twice a year, spring and fall. And when here we want mullet. Lots of mullet. And The Fishing Hole is one of the restaurants here that delivers the goods. We prefer just mullet with no sides, often accompanied by a dozen oysters on the half shell. The Fishing Hole offers this option. They have here a very nice a la carte menu. The 3 ounces of mullet sells for $5.20 and consists of three nice fillets. Very reasonable! On our friend's recommendation Anne and I shared a bowl of the shrimp and crab chowder. The fish is flavorfully coated and perfectly fried... moist meat that beautifully flakes apart. The creamy chowder is a shrimp and crab lover's dream. We amped up the heat to our taste with a few dashes of Crystal hot sauce. The chowder is definitely a do again dish for us. Our friend ordered the a la carte fried oysters and they looked so good we're returning today to give them a try (along with more mullet, of course). I enjoyed a draft Jai Alai IPA, and as bottles of wine were half price we shared a Gabbiano pinot grigio that proved to be quite nice. A perfect compliment to the fish and chowder. Service was prompt, very cordial and perfectly attentive. Looking forward to a repeat today for lunch.

We were visiting some friends in Milton and wanted to get a bite for lunch before heading out…read more They suggested Blackwater Bistro. The place is really quaint with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The menu includes a great variety of different items. The soup of the day was a green chili chicken stew that sounded too good to pass on, so I ordered that along with a side of Gouda grits and a side of sautéed green beans. The grits were delicious! The green beans were very good; and the soup was good. My wife ordered the Philly Cheesesteak with sweet potato criss-cut fries. The fries were bomb! The sandwich was okay, she was trying to figure out what was missing. On the way home she realized it was missing cheese. A cheesesteak without cheese?!?! Service was very good. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. This bistro is not cheap by any stretch, but it is good and I'm sure we'll return.

This…read morewas the fancy place in town to go to if you had a hot date, or for before you go to prom. I never made it out, though, until I moved away, got a job, and then came back to visit recently. I went out to explore downtown Milton some, checked out Blackwater State Park, and got hungry and decided to finally come check this place out for lunch. So we drove up, got a table, and started browsing the pamphlet they gave us of the history of the building. It was a quaint little read. The restaurant is in an old house that had many different lives over the course of its existence. It was wooden, comfortable, had a nice bar built into it. Very cozy and rustically upscale. The service was also very good. A nice lady that tended to all of our drink needs. Very pleasant. And the food came out in a timely fashion. As for the food, we started with the The Sampler (A mixture of our house favorites: Artichoke cheesecake, Baguette, Loaded Brussel Sprouts with Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp with Mango Chutney). This was nice. I love a good savory cheesecake, you don't see that very often. It was very interesting loading the sprouts with shrimp, but I've never said no to a shrimp. And the coconut shrimp were pretty standard. It was a good plate, but not mind-blowing, if you wanna try a different app. My main was the Creole Crawfish & Andouille Pot Pie (Louisiana Crawfish, Savory Vegetables, Andouille, Cajun Cheese Cream, Puff Pastry). This is a loose-leaf pot pie. So basically a gumbo with a puffy piece of puff pastry on top. So it's a lot of fun, but don't expect a lot of crust with each bite. Super creamy, super Cajun in the seasoning, no regrets getting this. I also got to try the The Blue Salad (Filet of Beef. Signature Assorted Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Cucumber, Bleu Cheese, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Candied Pecans, Bleu Cheese Dressing). This was a good salad! Nice and tender strips of filet, funky bleu cheese, sweet and crunchy pecans. I love a nice interesting salad like this. Nothing boring involved. And a ton of that delicious dressing. Overall, the Bistro was well worth the wait. Good vibes, good food. I'd come back.
