Great food... bad service. Café Ricardo isn't your typical lunch date. It is a fancier or more of a special kind of date location. You would expect to receive great service for the price that you are paying. The service: Once we got there, we wanted to sit at the terrasse. The waitress asked us to go inside and talk to the hostess. Only to realize that we were going to go back outside. This doesn't seem to be a productive or effective service. Once we got our table, the waiter didn't give us any water. We sat down, we looked at the menu and asked for water. The waiter wanted us to order first and then give us water... The food was amazing. Unfortunately, when we got our appetizer, our waiter didn't come and check on us. For our main meal, he dropped our food on the table and left. No words and no communication. We had to ask for Salt and pepper. During this entire lunch, it felt like we had to ask for every staple items. The food: We ordered their soup of the day, asparagus ceased salad, salmon tartare and shrimp roll. The food was excellent! They use local fresh ingredients to create such beautiful and delicious dishes. The prime question now is, "will I go back to Café Richardo?". The answer is yes. I won't be expecting for a great service but I know the food is good. I really hope this makes them realize that a 60$ lunch should come with at least a decent service where we don't need to ask for water or salt/pepper and for a simple check up. It's sad to say that I really wanted to give them a 5/5 for the overall but the service killed the ranking to 3/5.

We were invited to a VIP dinner hosted by Investors Group. It was a delight to actually see live the Chef Isabelle putting her dazzling magical touch to showcase a beautiful dessert - fresh cream , white chocolate, rhubarb amongst a myriad of other ingredients. We were in great company with our hosts, Marie-Stephanie and Tracey who indulged us with their charm during the entire evening. Food presentation was the highlight of our dinner, starting with a tuna tartar appetizer, pork pieces nicely drowned in a rich sauce and ending with a white chocolate mousse, all elegantly dressed, partnering with other goodies creating a vivid harmony of colours. Wine was somewhat below par, but nevertheless cannot look at a gift horse in the mouth. There is a store attached to the restaurant which has all the Ricardo brand kitchen utensils you can think of. Everything during the evening was as expected with the brand name Ricardo.

Second time going but first time for brunch. Servers were super nice, polite but a bit slow. Make sure to reserve since it's a popular spot. My husband's dish was a skillet-baked egg with mushrooms and it was so tasty! I had the Croque-Madame. In both dishes, the eggs were cooked to perfection. Local cheese and fresh veggies; it was indulging but without feeling bad or bloated afterwards. Great portions and price matches the quality of the plates. Will have to go back to order from the dessert bar next time! Plus, there's the Ricardo boutique attached to it with all his wonderful cooking/kitchen products. I'm a big fan!

Brunch: poached egg with roast potatoes and mushrooms covered in hollandaise sauce. Pork belly added on as an extra.

As a fan of Ricardo, I had to try out his cafe. The menu is small but changes seasonally. Nice choices and everything is executed and presented with care. Easy to book a table online. The cafe gets quite loud when it's full but I don't mind. I like that it is adjacent to a ricardo store. The only downside are the prices. I found it pretty pricy for the portions and keeping in mind t ricardo aims to make his recipes accessible to everyone regardless of background. The meals/desserts are all based on his own recipes.

Being fans of Ricardo, my friend and I decided to try his cafe for brunch last Sunday. It's only 15min from downtown Montreal by car, and it was nice to get outside the city. The place is nice, with one side of the shop where you can buy many things like kitchen supplies, chocolate, and ice cream. The other side is the cafe. I had the smoked salmon bagel, which was delicious but I was a bit disappointed with the size of the dish. I don't eat much in general, yet I still felt the portions were a bit small. My friend got the indian bowl, which is a vegetarian salad mixed with different marinated vegetables, spinach, and curcuma garbanzo beans. It was full of color and the flavors were well balanced. To end this delicious brunch, we had the lemon cheesecake to share. If you love cheesecake and lemon meringue tart, you have to try this one. It's the perfect mix of both, it is to die for!

The Café recently opened this week at the espace Rocardo. The menu is a typical café menu with light meals and various drinks and desserts. The items seem all quite delicious with lots of local and quality ingredients. I had a delicious grilled cheese with pulled ham, mustard grains sliced apples and a touch of maple. The decor is nice and fresh with convenient access to the Ricardo kitchen supply store next door

Working in Montreal for a couple of weeks and it's dinnertime. I usually will head into downtown to…read moreget dinner, but I was feeling lazy this evening so I did some Yelp'ing around what was near me. I found Twister Burger which was didn't have a large amount of ratings, but they had a big menu so I chose them! Here's how it went. Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right off a pretty wide street that doesn't seem like a main road is this gem. There's no private parking lot so you'll have to park on the street in the neighborhood, but I didn't have a hard time finding space. Once inside you're transported back to like... the 40s? 50s? Whenever the soda fountain era was with the black/white checkered walls, neon lights and the whole thing. Lol. It was cute. The restaurant is fairly small and that's okay! It makes for a more comfortable and cozy feel. I got my food to go so I didn't have to stay long. Service: The gentlemen behind the counter was very helpful and make sure I got everything that I needed. He also helped me since most of the menus are in French. Food: I started off with their Taco Salad, but as of now I don't see it listed on their menu anymore. Anyway, it's basically their now Southwest Salad which contains mixed greens, corn, red onion, avocado, fried tortillas and shredded cheese, served with chipotle ranch. But instead of being in a bowl, it's in a fluffy, crispy taco shell which was very flavorful and enjoyable. It worked well. The name of the place is called Twisted Burger so I had to try at least one of them. I decided on the Trio Diablo Burger which is 130g beef (1/3 lb), jalapeños, monterrey jack cheese, habanero salsa, grilled onion, chipotle mayonnaise and lettuce, and tomatoes. It kinda slid apart in transport, but I was able to put it back together at my hotel room and it was fine. Nothing super crazy or explosive to report. It was a decent burger and satisfied my cravings for sure. The beer-battered onion rings were okay too. Nothing special and I don't think I was expecting anything out of this world either. Most beer-battered onion rings taste the same, so it's good that it's a familiar flavor to recognize. Value: My taco salad was $14.95CAD, my burger was $10.95CAD and my onion rings were $4.95CAD. This is a GREAT DEAL on the amount of food I had for sure. Looking for a cheap date, something quick, nothing fancy, I dig this place for sure.

We wanted to try the Tomahawk but it wasn't on the menu so we decided to do steak on another day. To drink we ordered the apple cider. The cider was delicious and very crispy like I was eating a Cortland apple. We were served crispy bread with herb butter. The bread was crispy like toast and the butter was soft. It came with a small jar of baby dill pickles. They had a good crunch! We started with the lobster bisque. This bisque was very tasty. We could taste the lobster and it was very light; not a heavy or overly creamy soup. Pooh ordered the seafood risotto and I took the Dijon chicken. Both dishes were amazing. Pooh really enjoyed his risotto. He likes the addition of zucchini to give it a little crunch . The seafood was cooked to perfection. My chicken was super tender. I could taste the Dijon mustard. The mashed potatoes were smooth and the green beans were crispy and cooked perfectly. Our server was very polite and checked on us regularly. He apologized for not getting the wine when our meal arrived. Our only complaint was the wine. Usually the wine arrives right before the meal but our meal arrived first and we ate slowly as we waited for the wine to come. The wine arrived five minutes later and the server explained that it wasn't cold enough to give us. By the time I finished eating (because we had to wait for the wine) my potatoes were cold. We finished our evening with dessert. I had the lemon-in-a-jar and Pooh had the Crème brûlée. Pooh's crème brûlée was perfect. My lemon dessert was too sweet. The tartness of the lemon was overpowered by the sweetness of the almond crumble We enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent but they need to put the white wine in a cooler sooner.

I order a salmon meal. The salmon was tasteless but thankfully the sauce helped it. The mocktail was good. They had quite good amount of people there on a Sunday but definitely had open tables if I wanted to sit at a two seater but they suggested I go to the bar which is huge, but no one else was sitting there. Overall an okay spot, nice inside, my one dish was mediocre but not sure what the other dishes taste like.

After some time with the menu, and pitchers of water having been delivered to the table, the server came to take our orders, food and drinks together. The appetizers were delivered before most of the drinks, with one guest not receiving their appetizer until the mains were being delivered. The server had a bit of a hard time remembering who had what, but with some direction, everything was delivered eventually. The food was nice. We had the Lahori fried fish, nicely spiced, fish cooked really well. My partner and I shared the Combo 2 with white meat chicken kahari, beef kebab, and garlic naan. The chicken was cooked very well. The curry paste was tasty. The kahari was served in a large metal bowl, very nice touch. I really enjoyed the kebab as well. The naan was factory made, not fresh. That was a bit disappointing. My fraise rose was delicious. My partner had a mango lassi and said it was acceptable but a bit too thick. The meal had a good spice level throughout. The portions are generous and very filling. Good value for money, however the menu does not make it clear that most dishes seem to be intended for sharing. At the end of the meal, it took some time for dessert to come out (included with the meal), and it seems only some people were asked if they wanted tea or coffee, our side of the table was not. Towards the end, the server simply stood at the other end of the table and asked, generally, if anyone wants anything else. The service might have been better on a busier day, but at 1pm on a Sunday, it was lacking a bit, and we felt a little bit like an inconvenience, even though we were the only people there. We would go back, just maybe for an evening date.
