My friend and I had a terrible experience here. We are both experienced club goers, and enjoy supporting the nightlife industry. Right off the bat, the bouncers were incredibly rude, it seemed like none of them wanted to let us into the club and kept adding requirements and fees before they let us enter. Compared to other clubs and bars in the area, it was not a friendly atmosphere and we were not made to feel welcome. We did not feel comfortable having alcoholic drinks because we did not feel safe or that the staff would prioritize our best interests, and while there were many bouncers we in no way felt protected and we were consistently talked down to by them. After several terrible interactions we decided to leave, at which point they acted surprised that we weren't enjoying ourselves. We made a point of reaching out to a manager which is when we met Julien, and while he agreed that we weren't intoxicated or causing any problems he was not willing to address the issues we brought up. We wanted to make it clear that we went there fully intending to spend money and that it was due to the actions and abrasive behaviour of his staff that we did not which he did not seem to care about. We have never been treated so poorly by an establishment, and it left a bad taste in our mouths for the evening. I would never recommend anyone go here, and in fact, would warn people to stay away. The following day we began reading reviews and realized that this was not an isolated incident and that similar encounters have been happening to potential patrons for many years. After speaking to some locals we found out that the club has a reputation for being problematic, and that the people who work there do so because they know they can do whatever they want and still get a paycheck with no risk of repercussions for poor behaviour. Through their lack of action, they have shown that they do not care about the concerns involving their patron's safety and do not intend on making any changes. read more

I really liked it even if that wasnt that good in reality :) We went on a tuesday night around 1 am and came in for free with no identity check (one of us 3 was a minor but we were only girls and dressed casually: no high heels no mini-skirt/shorts). You have to put all your stuff in their storage room for 2€ each small bag. Toilets are neat and I didnt get to see the smoking area but it's downstairs but ventilated they said. Music is mainstream but the dj made it go all well together and it was cool to dance on it but the sound could be worked on a bit because I felt like we didnt have much bass going on. It's also pretty hot in there so beware. And leaving is leaving so if you want air better go downstairs. People start to come in around 2-3 am but even when we arrived people were dancing and all was cool. Some creeps as always (a strong no does the job tho) but mostly young people even though there were all ages reunited. More guys that girls in there too. About the drinks, very expensive (5€ for a shot) and you only get a subtle taste of alcohol but nothing more. People came in drunk and I recommend you to do so for more fun :) read more

Tried this bar out on a Saturday where there is 10 euro entry charge which is accompanied with a ticket with a drink (most drinks cost around 10 euros). We got there relatively early for a Saturday (around 12:30) and it was already packed. As the night wore on it became even more crowded and basically impossible to move around without pushing your way thru while spilling your drink on an unfortunate bystander. It's a wild place if you're into that kind of thing with a DJ playing all of the overplayed pop hits of the last 5 years (Levels, Turn Down for What, etc. you get the gist). One of the songs, forgetting the name, was accompanied by a live saxophone player which was a nice change of pace from the DJ's crowdpleasing choices. Gets very hot and sweaty (B.O. galore) in there because of the multitude of people but if you need to cool down there are ventilators on the ceiling where you can position yourself for a brief pause from the mix of sweaty Australian dudes. Not my idea of a good night but if you want to rage with some aggressive and soaked Aussies and dance the night away this is the place for you. read more

This bar gets surprisingly rammed at night. There was a long queue at the door the first night I passed by! I only went in the next day in the early evening. The place was practically empty then - I think it was a Sunday? - and very dark. There was a one-man band setting up when we left. So, yes, I guess what I'm trying to say is that it seemed pretty lively on Saturday and dead on Sunday, much like every other nightspot as one might expect. There's a statue of a guy dressed in a trenchcoat leaning on the bar in Cafe Oz. As it's so dark, you might mistake it for an actual person the first time you see it! read more

A local recommended café oz to us, so we thought we would try it out. My friend and I are from Texas, but we met up with our 2 friends from Australia while in Paris. We thought the Australian pub would be fun for all of us. But when we all gave the bouncer our IDs, he would only let the Australians in. We asked him why and he refused to answer. We ended up all going to Le Duplex which was way more fun anyway, but I was extremely disappointed, confused, and angry at the way the bouncer treated us. 1.75 stars If I could spell that sound you make when you stick your tongue out and blow, that would be the totality of my review for this place. Something sort of like this: pflppftltpfffplt If this place was in the US, it would be a typical frat bar. After-work crowd drinking pint after pint of cheap beer. I suppose there is a time and place for this sort of establishment, but I'd rather not spend my time at this place. And, given the huge number of other options at which to hang out in this 'hood, why anyone would choose this place is beyond me. Perhaps because the bar staff all speak perfect English? But really, did you come to France to speak with linguistically similar bar staff? Get off the beaten path and find yourself an authentic French cafe. Redeeming qualities about this place: -Women's bathrooms are not horrific. An okay pit-stop if necessary. -The inside tables are huge and you can spread out your map. And, there are lots of other tourists around, so you won't feel silly doing so. read more

The place is dirty and stinky, the bouncers are aggressive and racist, a friend of us who was supposed to join us was refused entry, he ain't white, how surprising. Don't bother and move on, plenty of other bars in the whereabouts way better than this place. read more

I generally try to avoid Ozzie bars because they're usually overcrowded with a (too) young crowd. Cafe Oz in Chatelet is pretty much like that. All expats, unlike its sister (brother?) bar in Montmartre. Avoid it if you can, but if you end up there, prepare to be pushed around giant dancing moshpits. read more

The staff are unprofessional and rude. If you're not French do no expect any level of respect, I'm glad I know enough French to know when a staff member is being excessively rude. This month alone I will have spent time in Prague, London, Paris, Ibiza, and several places in Switzerland, this bar/club/pub has been the worst that I have ever encountered for customer interactions. Bar located in the lively Châtelet les Halles neighborhood. The inside isn't your typical Parisian café setting, they have surfboards on the ceiling, a crocodile on the outside facade, huge horseshoe-shaped bar. Go before 8pm for their happy hour, after 10pm they turn the music up and dim the lights, it basically turns into a club and becomes packed. They often have games displayed, mostly Rugby and Football. They serve up Australian and NZ beers, pretty much every cocktail known to men, they tend to be bland though. The ones served at Café Oz Grands Boulevards are tastier in my opinion and everything's better at the Grds Boulevards, cleaner bathroom, less shady clientele... They have special themed parties and Djs and live artists every other night. read more
