There's just something about this place that makes me like it, something that sets it apart from other Parisian bars. Something about Stolly's makes it a particularly pleasing place to hang out at. Maybe it's the crowd of people smoking and being raucous at the entrance. Or maybe it's the second wave of people that you have to push through in order to go up to the counter. Either way, there's just an enjoyable and vivacious atmosphere to be found here. Even if it's late at night, you'll find your mood easily lifted at this part of town. This is a fun place, but it's really dark and you can barely see anything inside. The main source of light here is a glowing neon ring thing behind the counter. It is possible to make out the menu without any external light sources, though. All items are listed in English; the name of this place is English as well. English-speakers will feel right at home! The other nice part about the menu is that there's an interesting and wide selection. Most of the drinks are from 6,50€ to 8,00€, which for Paris isn't out of the ordinary. Personal favorite: the Kurt Nobrain. It's a mix of vodka, cherry liquor, and Coke if the menu is to be believed. It sounds really dumb, but I feel like I got the better deal by paying 6,50€ for it. Because this place is usually full of people, you might have to wait a while before you can find a seat. The tables are wooden and often sticky from whatever mess the last person using it left behind. Not the most pleasant thought in the world, but you can't really expect the staff to come clean every single table regularly when there are so many people in the way. It may not be the cleanest bar out there, but when the music, the darkness, the people, and the drinks are all put together in this one place, you may find that it's one of the more fun non-tourist attractions that the City of Light to offer.

This bar has been serving cheap beer and affordable cocktails to a mainly Anglophone crow for two decades. It's tiny, often crowded, the music is loud, the bartenders make a great atmosphere and you can watch some sport on TV. You see, there's nothing exceptional to this place... except this relaxed atmosphere, its long happy hour (5 to 8 pm), the cheap blonde pitchers (12 euro for the equivalent of 3 pints) and great cocktails at 5 euros that you can sip in summer on the terrace. See? Nothing to buzz about! Really!

This is also my favorite bar in Paris. Great crowd and atmosphere. Fantastic to watch any game. Go here!

Love it, my BF's favorite anglophone place in Paris, as well as the Lizard Lounge.

The Quiet Man - St. Patrick's day

On my first day in Paris, I was dying for a nap after not sleeping on my overnight flight but 'how…read moreto beat jet lag' tutorials advocate staying awake until local bedtime. I knew I wouldn't be able to make it until my usual bedtime of midnight-ish (that's a liberal ish), but 9pm seemed reasonable. It was a chilly fall night and a pint of Guinness or two sounded like the ideal nightcap, err, sleep inducer. A quick search on my Yelp app and a brisk 10-minute walk later, I arrived at The Quiet Man. Like most bars in Paris, the Quiet Man is tiny... especially tiny, even. However, the diminutive size was far less intimidating than walking into a bar filled with loud, jovial men and only one stool to be snagged. I never took my eyes off it while waiting for my perfectly-poured Guinness and stealthily made my way over before pouncing: all mine! Over the next 2 hours, I 'met' the guys next to me several times (close proximity is a powerful instigator of friendship), pretended like I understood everyone's Fast french while nodding and smiling, was gifted a Guinness from one of my elbow-mates, and embarked on a deep and lengthy political conversation in English with a 60-ish Frenchman who had previously lived in London and Dublin (sidenote: this convo took place right before the U.S. presidential election and everyone and their far-removed cousin expressed interest in hearing my opinion). A couple of Guinness later, I was sufficiently spent. And this cool unassuming dive, like its friendly patrons, won't be soon forgotten. PS: There's nothing quiet about the Quiet Man ;)

Unbelievably awesome bar... Music downstairs, meat & guinness on top. Best bar in Paris...fact!read more

Yes, go check this place out--even if you're jet lagged. Is that straightforward enough? I hope so…read more This was my first stop in the Marais after noticing Cambridge Public House earned a respectable spot on "The World's 50 Best Bars" list. Will it clear up your jet lag? Who cares. Will you be satisfied even if it doesn't? I think so. Beverages: 5/5. Cocktails are on rotation and beautifully chilled (which helps with the jet-lag). Cigarette After Sex. Memorial Story. Last Chance. Stars Align. All were stellar selections, with the Cigarette After Sex capturing the essence of that unique feeling--before vapes flooded the world. I even returned 48 hours later to help numb my feet after a day spent meandering through the Marais and Musee Carnavalet. Cuisine: You're here for the cocktails, not for the food. That said, the meat pie and the sausage roll were decent. That's the move. Service: 5/5. My fellow Americans... The staff here is hella cool. They made me feel at home despite not knowing any words beyond, "Bonjour," and they were generous with refilling my glass of water. Say less. Actually, the only minor annoyance was other Americans babbling loud AF next to me at the bar. Ambiance: 5/5. Chill. Solid playlist. Dope interior. I look forward to stopping in again. Buen provecho.

The drinks are not only fun but having half size allowed us to try a few things. While the food was more "snack" size it was still plenty for us. As expected it was a loud bar style atmosphere but not so loud that we couldn't have a good conversation. Great place, highly recommend!
