Cortado

Finally visited Café Kuya after wanting to visit since they opened, and o boy was I missing out! The coffee here is SUPER GOOD. We tried their cortado with coffee beans from Peru and it was well balanced, fruity but still maintained an intense coffee flavour without being bitter. The filter coffee was also good, although not overly strong or thick it did have a fruity aftertaste. We were at the café for breakfast and tried the pork longganisa fried egg breakfast sandwich which was unique (on the sweeter side) and simply everything you would want in a bfast sandwich! The fried egg and pork sausage were perfect and sat toasty inbetween the slices of bread. We're sad we couldn't stay for the lunch menu! Service and hospitality are amazing too! The café is also super cute and modern! Highly recommend this café for all my coffee lovers who also enjoy food with filipino flair!

Finally another good coffee shop on the south shore. Best thing is that it is Filipino influenced and they serve food. I always order a cortado and a lot of times, I find it way too diluted. But not here...it had a good coffee taste to it...almost like Olympico which is my favourite coffee place. I went there for lunch so ordered their lechon sandwich. I really like the addition of the grilled pineapple for a touch if sweetness. I could have eaten a 2nd sandwich easily. Ordered their coconut pie and as a good Asian dessert, it wasn't too sweet. Even my friend who doesn't like sweet stuff liked it. Opted for a 2nd coffee and tried their cortado with ube...wow. I really recommend trying it. I will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu. Very small place tho with just a couple of tables.

Lechon sandwich! So good!

I was looking for a good Filipino spot, and multiple times on Yelp I came across this restaurant as…read morea go to spot for good Filipino food. This place did not disappoint! The food was amazing, and the restaurant took classic Filipino dishes, added some twists of their own to make it fancier, but the taste of each dish was amazing! The waitress was kind to explain parts of the menu to help understand some of the dishes. The Lechon (pork belly) was one of the best I had! I love how the outside is crunchy and there was plenty of juicy meat on the interior. 10/10 The buto buto was a first for me, I loved the ribs because of the sauce combined with the toppings of herbs and fruit was delicious and paired very nicely! The meat on the ribs came right off and were cooked nicely. 9/10 Overall, definitely recommend coming to this spot if you want to try other Asian cuisines during your stay in Montreal!

The ambiance is comforting and tastefully decorated with different elements of Filipino culture. It's also very clean and the service is excellent. The waitress asked if it was our first time at Junior and explained the menu. The bistek onglet was a 5 out of 5! It's not like the traditional dish but I love how they added their own flavors and creativity, such as the chimichurri and a bit of sourness to the sauce. The beef just melts in your mouth! They added uniqueness to each dish on their menu and it works in their favor. Overall, if you're looking for delicious, elegant Filipino food, this is the place for you. Highly recommend!
