The ambiance is awesome, the service is great and the food is wonderful. I have come 3 times and every day is different. Awesome tasting food and Jesus has taken care of us. The cochinita pibil is my favorite as well as the quesadillas and empanadas. Great variety and something for everyone. You can't go wrong at all. We will be returning for Mexican Fiesta on Thursday night and will post later how that goes. In the meantime give this place a try. Worth not having to go out of the resort for breakfast even though it can get pricey if you drink. Come try it out at least once.

Order the juice that has orange, pineapple and beet juice.

This food was amazing!! Saw that it was buffet style and my inner fat girl danced her butt off!! Lol. Then it quickly switched to concern because there's a pandemic. Those concerns died quickly. The place is super clean and they have great covid procedures in place. The servers make all of your plates and you only touch it once it's handed to you. They have a large variety of food!! Breakfast, dinner, dessert, the works! We were told to try this juice that had orange juice, pineapple juice and beets. Wasn't sure what to expect but this was really good! You can tell it was super fresh by the texture. Ordered papaya justice as well. So these plates....they were massive. I put any and everything these plates. I liked the food on for sure. And yes.....I went back for seconds! No shame in my game!! They have an omelet station, as well as a French toast station. Everything I tried was delicious!

My family came to Cafe del Lago for a breakfast buffet. The place was super cute, overseeing a lake and adorned with Mexican decor. There were also plenty of food options - a quesadilla bar, omelette bar, waffle/French toast bar, as well as hot plates of eggs, Mexican style meats, potatoes, a wide selection of pastries and breads, and much more. Juices are also included. We tried all 3 different options and they were all super fresh. The service was also great. Overall, my family really enjoyed our breakfast here and we will be coming back throughout our stay.

The lake that you look out over from the restaurant.

The buffet breakfast that keeps giving. I ate breakfast here after a 4 mile walk and what a great idea. The stewed salmon, beef tips, and hot chocolate hit the spot. I wouldn't recommend the black corn mushroom quesadilla. I am still trying to figure out what black corn is exactly. The fruit is sweet like sugar and the servers are attentive. Make sure you check the Vidanta app for the discount.

Beautiful but no saffron

Buffet here at the Grand Mayan resort. Next to a lagoon... ergo Lago Still water lagoon mosquito and big fly was eating me instead of me eating food. Most uncomfortable experience. Worst, the shrimp cook was broiling the shrimp then sauté in a chipotle sauce... resulting in 1/3 size from start. Jerky dry shrimp. Tried to tell him, no hablo English Rest of the buffet was just meh. No saffron in the paellae... so it didn't taste like paellae. Grill asada should have been cut up by chef as knives was underserving the job. Juicy but chewy. No drink refill or even asked Auto tipped without any choice Spend the rest of evening on the throne with diarrhea... and stomach pain with regrets. 570 peso... gone

We were staying at Mayan Palace and decided to try out the buffets at the resort. The Lago is the only Buffet at the resort. On Saturday we decided to go check out "Grill Night", that's what they call it, they serve Pork Chops, Rib Eye and Skirt Steaks. My fave was the skirt steaks, I had them cook it medium and it was quite tender. They also served your usual, 5 different fresh fruits, salads and 3 different sopes.

I've been here twice now for the breakfast, and I have to say, what a feast! I was really impressed with the spread. The hospitality is top-tier, which is expected for Vidanta properties. I recommend getting whatever the special juice is, since it switches up every day, and I personally like to grab some hot chocolate or coffee to go with it. The spread is almost always magnificent, and it's right on the water, which can give you a wonderful view if you sit close. Birds are usually flying about and coming inside the resturaunt, which can be a bad thing if you're not a fan.

The breakfast buffet is delicious. Both the green and red chilaquiles were authentic and delicious. The home made donuts were great!

Review Highlights - Café del Lago

For a breakfast buffet some may say "overpriced" but up in Cancun I have stayed at places where breakfast buffet is $35 and this one is only $22?

Probably one of the better bets at the resort. The breakfast buffet was good. They have omelette…read morestations which is great! Big selection of an assortment of pastries and hot foods. The smoothies were terrible. Don't bother. Orange juice tastes like it's fresh squeezed. That was a nice surprise. I did go for a quick bite at dinner time one night. Taco bar is the only decent thing I had in there. At any rate, the other restaurants are all booked up most days so this is a good option.

We're staying at the resort 8/10-8/16/20 and just had this spot as our first breakfast ... SO GOOD!…read more I had the omelet station, bacon, and some smoked salmon. The station had lots of topping choices and there were 2 going at the same time, so no waiting in line. I usually only eat turkey bacon at home, so the real bacon here was a real treat to me! And who doesn't love eating FRESH SMOKED SALMON with breakfast - what a treat! I also had a cantaloupe and pineapple plate and the fruit was so perfectly ripe, it was almost hard to pickup with a fork! My fiancé had the french toast after we heard another couple talking about it at check-in last night ... it truly didn't disappoint! You could see the granules of sugar on top mmmmhmmm! He also made his own chilaquiles ... look at that pickled onion on top - amazing! He also had this really delish candied pear that had a plop of whipped cream on top, as well as other fruits. It was the perfect level of sweet and tart mix. Of course don't forget to order your mimosas and bloody mary's to go along with your epic breakfast!

Great food options for the finicky diner. This restaurant was a three minute walk from our amazing…read moreroom. The Market has everything under the sun with flavors that will challenge your taste buds. From veggie only options to seafood, chicken, beef and pork. To soups, salads and mouth watering desserts! The staff here will make sure that your cup/glass is always full. If you prefer wine with your fish they bring the bottle tableside and pour to your satisfaction. Many of their wines are from Spain and other European countries. At the meals end a nice piece of cake warshed down with some of the best coffee I have ever had in any restaurant back in the USA. If your in a hurry and have things lined up like tours or music events for the day. Going to a buffet style restaurant is your best bet. The breakfast here is amazing.

For a buffet, the Market does a great job! There is always such a wide variety of food available for every meal! For breakfast there were the usual suspects....freshly made waffle & pancake station, omelette station, plus tons of American and Mexican entrees. There was a pizza oven where they warmed tacos for a taco bar at breakfast and made pizzas at lunch. There were always fresh fruit and green juices and horchata water. At dinner there are different theme nights (Italian, Steak, etc.) We walked by when they had the seafood buffet and it looked excellent with lobster, crab, and many varieties of fish. The staff served beverages and was always very helpful. Sometimes the a la carte restaurants at the Hard Rock were disappointing but you could never go wrong at the Market.

This restaurant is located behind the entrance gates for the Coba ruins (sorry, yelp, for reporting…read morethe place closed, but the location doesn't match up with the yelp map). It is a big, two storied facility that faces the lake, and the huge parking lot makes it popular with tour groups and daytrippers. They have a full bar and serve dinner, unlike most of the other places in town, which have no alcohol and are often only open until 6pm. They have a buffet, but we ordered a la carte. Food was served up quickly. The food was pretty good but definitely not as good as the other places we tried in Coba. Prices were slightly higher than at the little places outside of the gates. But the place definitely felt clean, and if you want servers who speak English (or even French or German), this place is your place. We had the guacamole, which was very good but not as good as other places in Coba. My husband had the quesadillas, which were really big. My kids had kid meal things. I had the roast pork, which was well-seasoned. It came with a small amount of rice and beans, which were fine. The beers are served ice cold, which is nice after hiking around the ruins.

This was good. A lot of cheese but it was fresh and not oily at all. The spaghetti with meat sauce was a little bland but good just the same. We also had a fresh fish dish that was good. Not sure what kind of fish it was. This is a good option when visiting Coba if you check out the ruins, eat, then drive on to the cenotes or back toward Tulum.
