Caffè Roma was a perfect little pit stop for coffee and a quick croissant after visiting the Colosseum. The croissant was tasty--but let's talk about the service. Subpar at best. The waiters were noticeably rude, curt, and far from friendly. While the location is convenient and serves its purpose, the ambiance could be more quaint and definitely cleaner. It's right in front of the Coliseum and is busy due to its location. We were early to meet our tour group so we decided to have some gelato,a brownie, and affrogato. They were ok. The affrogato was a big portion but it didn't taste very good. Nothing special. My friend said that her gelato was ok too. The brownie was better and my friend liked that one. read more

Caffè Roma is one of the biggest tourist traps in the city, located on Via del Colosseo, it is right across from the Colosseum, open between 8 am and 8 pm every day, and it's full of tourists. The staff were unfriendly and would not allow me to sit inside the restaurant and just order drinks, even though they were not overly busy inside and there didn't appear to be any other parties waiting who could have used the table. The outdoor seating area is surprisingly pleasant and has stunning views of the Colosseum. It does some way of justifying the price if you want to sit down for a while and admire the views while being away from sitting on a wall where you'd be photobombing a dozen photos and harassed by the scammers selling warm bottles of water, and low-quality bracelets and umbrellas. The prices again are absurd, but you're once again paying for the location and they know people will pay it due to where they're located. The inside could have also been cleaner, but it was fine. A code is required to use the toilets so make sure to keep your receipt. I saw more people inside trying to use the toilets than actually purchasing something, which was quite amusing. 2* - The extra star is for the locations alone and the views of the outdoor seating area, even though everything else appears to be inadequate. read more

Nutella gelato at Cafe Roma The gelato was great don't get me wrong BUT the service was not the best honestly tried to get their attention many times they didn't care to want to help and on top of that it is such a small place but everyone gets in everyone's way because there isn't space and they don't care to fix that issue we went in their 3 times get water from the front and to see if it would be different then our first experience and it was always the same way, definitely can't go in there and sit it's so difficult. read more

This caffe is located next to the colosseum. The view worth 4 stars! I was sitting outside, and ordered a ginseng coffee and cannoli. The coffee is small like the size of an espresso. The cannoli were too sweet for me. I will come back for the view, but not the food. Service was decent. Price was reasonable given the nice scenery. read more

I have been here a few times and the service is somewhat mediocre. The food was alright but what was irritating is that there are different prices for if you are taking away versus sitting in. To sit in will be more expensive. Because of this I'd say that this restaurant caters more to the "on the go" customer. Don't plan for a family meal here but rather come here for a pastry and drink to go. read more

Caffe Roma is right across the Colosseum. Perfect spot. We were able to get a table quickly. I had the lasagna which was amazing. The lemonade was not to my liking; not sweet at all. I just ordered a bottle water since I was going walking on my tour after lunch. Great option to dine if you're in the area. read more

This place has so much potential. Your view is the colloseum. In the states this place would be run so differently. Here you can sit outside in one of the limited outdoor tables with the amazing view and sit there for hours with a cup of cappuccino. It's amazing they don't try to rush people out. The food was ok. We had sandwiches and an appetizer dish. The food is really a 2/5, drinks 3/5, service 4/5 and scene 5/5. I don't think that comes to 4/5 but I don't think it deserves the average rating it sits at today on Yelp. The view from the outdoor seating is priceless and worth a cup of coffee or glass of wine. read more

Stopped in for coffee and I noticed the cold coffee was 1€ cheaper than the cafe Americano. Being an iced coffee lover I opted for the cold coffee. It took about 5 minutes for him to make this and then he asked do you want it shaken? So I said sure. .50€ more for him to put it in a shaker and giggle around for 10 seconds. Okay then. Needless to say it was a good "cold and shaken" coffee but I'd never go back here. read more

This cafe was conveniently located at the bottom of our hotel so was perfect for us to grab our first coffee of the day. The best aspect of this cafe is the staff, the are friendly, warm and make you feel at home which is particularly good when you arrive in Rome for the first time. The coffee is ok, the food is a little less than ok, but the sign out the front explaining all the coffee options is very helpful for a coffee amateur like me. read more

Right off the lobby of our hotel (Hotel Cosmopolitana) and convenient. Good service and good gelato and coffee. Many fine pastries as well as sandwiches. This is like a flatiron building with views from some window tables and much more seating in the rear. If you can get a window seat its an ideal location to have coffee and people watch. read more

This is literally "cafeteria style" food. Everything is under heat lamps. Food is ok, not unreasonably priced, but it did eventually make me a bit sick to my stomach (about 30 minutes later). Ok, got the job done. We were meeting at tour group nearby and needed quick food. This restaurant fit the bill. However I think their focus maybe drinks as the food was mediocre, but definitely still palatable. It was a bit early in the evening, so we had to wait a little bit, I assume because they had to get the ovens warm. Staff was very kind and helped ensure that we got out the door on time for the tour group we were meeting. If I can give zero I would. If this is the cafe place by the piazza fontana trevi then try to find other Cafe and Gelato places elsewhere. First off their location is on a tourist destination area therefore they should at least try to be friendly and expect crowds from all walks of life to come and have a coffee or Gelato. Again I cannot repeat this enough, at least try to be friendly. My cousins ordered cappuccino to go there were five people that ordered old barista guy was not happy to begin with, one cousin tried to take a photo of the place and old lady cashier immediately said no fotos?! Really your shop is in a tourist area?! Back to the cappuccino, when we asked to have it to go old barista grabbed small plastic cups even if we saw paper cups clearly for to go coffee. We asked if he can use the paper cups he said rudely those are for cappuccino..huh..newsflash we ordered cappuccino to go..anyhoo the language barrier was not worth the time and energy to explain to these small local business owners our point of view. Today was shopping day in Rome. Was looking for a breakfast place (which seems a challenge in the city). Found this place got a nice cappuccino and salami and cheese panini. Not exactly breakfast but it was good. Panini was hot and nicely pressed cappuccino was good too. I'd recommend if you are in the area and need a quick bite. I knew this would be bad but we were tired, a little hungry and needed to pee. It looked passable from outside. Be warned, keep walking, do not waste your time or euros on this travesty of a caffe. Where to start? The toilets had no seats and were covered in urine. The service was slow and rude. The food was so overcooked and bland I fear that I will have food poisoning in a few hours. Worst experience during last 5 years of travelling. (Not related to the quality of food - it was pretty good.) Staff is absolutely disorganised. We tried to order 4 focaccia at the counter. The guy told us, that if we want to eat inside, not take-away, we should sit down and make an order from one of the waiters. "Ok"-said we, went to our table, made an order(instead of focaccia - 2 sandwiches and 2 bruschettas). After 5 minutes they brought us 2 orders - one from the guy at the counter and one from the waiter! Obviously, we didn't eat both of them and sent the second one back. But when it was our turn to pay, they charged us not only for things that we ate, but also for bruschetta, which we did not eat! And the main manager or the host himself(whoever it was) told me, that I should pay - or he calls for carabiners. I've never met this kind of attitude anywhere else - thank you, Italy, thank you, Rome! Just to be fair, I have to mention that half of the second order - sandwiches - they didn't include - apparently, those could still be sold to some other unfortunate tourists.
