Caffetto is the quintessential Minneapolis coffee shop--they've got tasty, reasonably priced drinks (including a robust selection of teas both hot and iced), good hours, and a real fun punk cafe vibe (lots of fun graffiti and vintage pinball machines). I think Caffetto kind of corners a market that no one else has by being open so late--most coffee shops are barely open past noon, and they're open until midnight! I've personally spent many a late night there finishing up work--it's a really cozy atmosphere, and the selection of pinball machines in the basement are the perfect study break activity. The staff are all great and even when there's a line, they get through it quick and are still able to offer great recommendations--while I usually prefer an iced green tea with no ice, I've tried the lattes, cold press, Thai coffee, and hot chocolate and have genuinely never had a bad drink here. The only thing is to make sure you watch your step if you're walking in the basement--even though it has seating and pinball and the bathroom, it's more of an unfinished space with uneven flooring and I personally rolled my ankle and fell there last year haha. read more

I jetted from work early to try this coffee shop because I needed a change of scenery and... well... it's Tuesday. :) I was surprised to find that the cafe was packed at 2:30 in the afternoon, but got lucky enough to snag an intimate table in the corner, perfect for reading a book in peace! I had a triple decaf almond milk latte that tasted like it was caffeinated to me but didn't give me the buzz I'm so addicted to, that's when you know it's a good decaf. I love the coziness and the unique artwork in Caffetto. I look forward to coming back at an earlier hour to feed my addiction. But it's great to know I have a go to coffee shop for those afternoon cravings where the decaf tastes just as delightful! This is a great local coffee shop with plenty of space to work or relax while having a great cupper. We got some iced teas, as we'd just had a meal nearby and were killing time before heading over to a performance at the Children's Theatre. They have a wide variety of coffees and teas to drink, so don't get in line until you know what you want. No, they aren't rude or anything, it's nice to not keep others waiting while you decide. Service was friendly and quick and the prices are quite reasonable. The names of some of their drinks are interesting. I'll have to try a few of them when next I visit. read more

This is such a lovely little coffee shop. There's outdoor seating, some jenky chairs, and on an off street to a very busy street! Thus lots of interesting things can be observed happening outside of this spot. Inside is cozy upstairs either tons of unique decorations. Their coffee menu is wide and a wide array of tea as well. I didn't eat but they had cheese cake options and tons of other snacky treats or baked goods. The downstairs is where the fun is! There are pinball machines and the walls are covered in graffiti / drawings / art. This was extremely fun. There is cozy seating as well, couches, chairs and plenty of tables to put your stuff on, study or do art. The noise down stairs at 2 pm on Saturday was surprisingly quiet. I imagine different times the ambiance would be different. I'd definitely recommend checking this spot out!! I will for sure be returning! read more

This place is NEVER open when it's supposed to be in the mornings!! Whoever is on the opening shift needs to be fired!! Super UNPROFESSIONAL!! Wow this place! Just...wow! It's definitely not your standard, modern day coffee shop vibe. It's hard to capture all the quirk in it's entirety. My daughter wanted a coffee say on the city. We started with the Spybouse and wanted to hit up something with a bit more of a quirky vibe. This is definitely it! Mostly all on a good way. I would totally have given it a 5 star if the 1st smell that hit my nose when walking thru the door wasn't cigarette smoke. (It's a coffee shop- I should smell the rice, deliciousness of those yummy ground brown bean!) It's mismatching, eclectic, darker and broodyish. Yet has a peaceful coziness at the same time. Homey. I think I'd sums it up with homey with a side of old world quirk. What I absolutely love about this place?? Allll the awesome options outside of coffee!!! How often do you find switchel and kombucha offered??! And I rarely see the syrup selections that had! My girls and I are always smitten with violet and rose flavored yummies- they had both and them some for syrups. They also had a few different ice tea, chai tea, Thai tea, Italian soda, French soda & Egg Cream (which we found out is basically like chocolate milk mixed with soda water) for drink options. Supposedly, they have a downstairs with pinball machines. We didn't go down there. I didn't want my 5 year old begging me to part with my quarters :D Honestly, my only complaint is the fact that they had multiple doors open and one with a fan to pull cool air in- but being the smokers lounge was back there- which sucks the smoke into the coffee shop. It probably bothers me more since my little one is with me- and playing with some other kids. This is my local café; it's dark, dusty and sticky but I dig it. The furniture is torn to shreds and nothing matches, they play good music, the baristas don't care if you live or die, the bathroom looks like a setting for satanic ritual abuse; it's punk. I got a hibiscus tea to do some coding for work late on a Sunday night after googling what places are good for 'studying' and open late. Was really impressed with the ambiance and how reminiscent of a college commons area where everyone was just quietly hanging out in this homey little niche of a coffee place. Wifi was suprisingly good. I don't know anything about coffee or tea, but my tea seemed custom enough to admire. The vibe is super artistry, mismatched, and a little run down but still very homey. I love that local artists are featured and you're able to purchase their works too! They were patient while we took a while to decide what we wanted and were nice at letting us order drinks to-go as we left right as close. (Note: we asked if we could still order, with the expectation we would be told "no". Please always ask and don't assume! Maybe they've already cleaned all the machines for the night). I ordered an iced chai with caramel and soy. It was a bit sweet, probably because of the caramel, but that's exactly what I wanted in the moment. It was also very cinnamony. Caffetto is NOT POC FRIENDLY! NOT LGBTQ FRIENDLY! I posted a review a few weeks ago giving Caffetto a great review, but I take it back. I will never be coming back here after the disrespect my partner and I were shown. I started coming to this cafe a little over a month ago and have been here 5+ times. Each time my partner and I have gotten multiple drinks, and sat in the lobby for a few hours to study/crochet. I also tip over 30% everytime I come here. or USED to. This is gonna be a bit to explain, so bear with me. I just want to tell my full story and have people understand. After my 5-1 shift (barista job) my partner and I decided to go to Caffetto because I loved it so much. The vibes were chill and nobody bothers you really, usually pretty busy, but it's manageable. My partner decided that he wanted to stop by SK to grab a drip coffee down the street because they're more of a specialty coffee roasting café. If you've been to Caffetto, you'll know that they don't roast their own beans and also don't specialize in their drip coffee... or really anything. We went to Caffetto afterwards because that's where I was going to get my coffee and where we would stay for a few hours so he could study and I could crochet. Once we got there, we saw how insanely busy it was. It was about 3pm and the line was basically going out the door for 20+ minutes. We sat down at the bar because that was the only seating available and we wanted to wait till it was less busy before ordering. There was only ONE worker, maybe 5'11 cis looking 28 (maybe) year old white guy. I wish I remembered more of what this guy looked like. My partner and I felt awful because there was a huge rush and only this one person working. He seemed really upset because he kept spilling drinks, he dropped the lid to the iced tea on the floor (and put it back on without washing it), kept running out of dishes, etc. I figured we would let the rush die down before ordering so he could have a minute without hassle, as a barista, I value the time I have to catch up from a huge rush. We were also planning on tipping $20 because of how bad we felt. (Side note, the wind chill outside was -30 degrees so waiting outside was simply not an option). After the rush died down the man started cleaning up. Out of nowhere he comes up to my partner and I (we're both watching a video on our ipad, unbothered) and says "How are you guys doing?" I thought he was nice for coming up to us and asking and we started to respond and start a conversation, but he cuts us off and goes "Thats really rude, you know" ...huh?? "You shouldn't bring coffee from a different place here. That's rude. You wouldn't bring food from a different place to a restaurant, Would you. When you pay for coffee you rent out the place. You can't just sit here-" and kept going on and on with the most disrespectful, condescending, god complex ever. My partner, POC Male, is going "I'm so sorry, I didn't know. We were going to order. I'm so sorry. Is it okay if I finish it?" and I am FLOORED. I would understand this happening if Caffetto was a high class cafe, but are you serious? My friends call Caffetto Cafe Ghetto. The place with the most grunge vibes, graffiti everywhere, torn up seats, garbage everywhere, dirty floors, etc. I'm assuming whoever this toxic elitist man was is the manager considering his attitude and the fact that he was the only one on shift. We left immediately after because there is ZERO shot I would have paid for anything after that interaction. We weren't rude and didn't talk back, just apologized and left. On my way out I said "I hope your day gets better" because he seemed to be in an AWFUL mood to go out of his way to harass customers like that. He responded with "It's going fine." Ok man. No idea if he approached us because we're both queer and my partner is a POC, but regardless, I will never come back here. read more

1. Ambience Nice and cozy for the upside, but it is quite dark and most importantly NO AC if you come during the summer. And during the winter, it has that still air. They just simply have no good ventilation. I really like the fact that you can stand and work in their bar area, you can use the stool if you needed. But the overall lack of circulation of air or no AC during summer thing just makes it not worth the discomfort. If you like very old world, vintage looks with poor lightning, this is a good place. 2. Coffee They have good variety of choices but nothing to die for. 3. Service nice and friendly. 4. Parking Pain. I had to park 3 blocks away cause there is no paid parking I could find and all street parking in the vicinity were completely full. Not coming back here. Perhaps the space is a bit dilapidated, but that's part of the charm. They always display new at by local artists, something I enjoy. It could use with a bit more cleaning, but I never found its unkempt state anything but charming. They offer plenty of outlets inside, and there is space outside when the weather is accommodating. If you're not in the mood to sip coffee and work, Caffetto has board games upstairs, plus pinball and ping pong downstairs. I've always enjoyed my chai or occasional latte, but the music at night can be so LOUD. It's incredibly distracting when trying to work, which sucks because I come to relax and do work outside of the apartment. I have no problem with the majority of music played, but there is extremely loud sound making its way through my headphones- which are all the way up, something's wrong. The morning baristas usually play mild to medium sound levels. Everyone's friendly on a polite to conversational level, but this noise level is ridiculous. read more

It is definitely a dive coffee bar, but there is plenty of seating and a great kombucha! There is plenty of space to work--and judging by the number of people on computers I am guessing free wi-fi. They do have kombucha though, which you don't find at too many coffee shops...the lemon rosemary was delish! If you find yourself with some time to spare, why not check out this place. If you need something to do, there's a birdhouse take a book, leave a book library out in front.
