I stopped by this café before visiting Powell's Books, which is just a short walk away, to grab a coffee and a quick bite. The place was busy and had a lively atmosphere. I ordered a latte and a butter croissant, and both came out pretty quickly. The service was efficient, even with how busy they were. There are a handful of tables inside, and it definitely seemed like a popular spot for people studying and working. I ended up sitting at the bar where my coffee was served, and I couldn't help but notice how nice the bar setup looked. It's a great place to grab a coffee, get some work done, or fuel up before spending a few hours browsing Powell's.
Nice atmosphere for a coffee shop ( some people probably wouldn't like but they had a TV so I was able to watch a little Wimbledon ) a local friend recommended their coffee as one of the best in town - did not disappoint. Had an amazing latte and a great almond croissant.
Wonderful service at this coffee shop. The barista helped us and went through a little of the menu with us. Relatively traditional brew options, which I love instead of all the add-ins/customized drinks that are everywhere. Ordered 2 cortados with oat milk. The espresso has very good flavor and the oat milk made it rich. Would be a good place to work or study.
WHEN: Fri @1:30pm Wanted somewhere to work for a bit and this spot has all the basic necessities: seatings, outlets, beverages, pastries, and some savory foods. No wifi but they open late everyday (6pm). They even serve affogato! But all I had was: COLD BREW - $5.25 Served in a tall glass and comes with a cute little chocolate piece! I'm no coffee person, I just needed to buy something since I was hanging out here. It's not a fancy or well decorated cafe, but it was a convenient spot that has seating available but indoors and outdoors. Not too shabby!
Ideal for a laid-back and relaxing coffee date. Service is Ok. I came here for an affogato apparently they no longer serve it.
One of my favorite coffee shops. Good coffee friendly service. The logo is nice shows a touch of Italy. I remember speaking with Rafael many years back. This is his creation as I remember. Great place in the Pearl. Nice windows to watch the rain. Each coffee comes with a piece of chocolate. Nice treats in the case and some lunch items. Today a jewelry stand someone was selling their wares. I had an americano. Nice a bit nutty flavor, crisp and clean. I was given a number and they bring your order to your table. Nice touch. Nice attention to detail, presentation of your order. Good mix of clients working on their laptops or meeting with friends. A couple of doors so you will see people come from different sides which adds to the flow and decor. I brought my laptop...creating the review here this evening. Oh no a downpour outside and I parked a couple of blocks away. I will stay a bit longer and wait for a break in the rain.
I love this cafe I go to school right around the corner and it's most of the students go to cafe. I really like the staff they are always so friendly, patient and helpful. The cookies are amazing.
Absolutely fantastic. Came in from out of town and wanted a true Portland coffeehouse experience. Unfortunately, the ones we found, and walked into were nothing special at all. We walked up and down Pearl district, Alphabet District, and a few other areas just to find a yummy café. One of them was completely dirty, I was not going to have my coffee there at all. Another one, the steamer was broken and they were only serving iced drinks, the third one noted pastries and food on Yelp, yet there was only two items in the case, (and we came in the morning). All that to say, we were getting some coffee Hangry on and looked again at Yelp and found this gem. My Cardamom Rose mocha was full of flavor, delicious and hot, served right away, even though they were very busy. We ordered some goodies as well and they were delicious. Everyone in there was kind and went out of their way to show support to their patrons. Who I imagine was the owner, went up to every table and everyone in line to greet them and smile at them. This is what an elevated Portland café should be about! Not about how grungy it is and all the different flavors of mushrooms that they serve with a bad attitude. Trust me, you can find that on every corner! When we are back in town, we will definitely go out of our way to visit this amazing spot!
Stop by during a coffee crawl in Portland! Inside it's a really nice little spot to enjoy coffee, chat with friends or do work! I love how big and open the coffee bar was so you watch them make coffee! Everyone was super friendly and helpful! I got the honey oat latte and it was delicious! If you like coffee and for it to be sweet definitely try it! I really enjoyed how it wasn't overly sweet and overwhelming.
Great coffee shop for a quality brew! I love that they give you little chocolates with your drink. Just so you know, the espresso spritz was tasty, but just a bit too sweet for my taste.
Espresso and coffee makes the day for lots of peeps in The Pearl District. This is a bustling coffee shop to hang out inside or outside sidewallk table in the shade of trees. Cool vibe. I am really enjoying my cappuccino with a complementary chocolate. Also, serving up a spot of tea, cold drinks, yummy pastries and some sandwiches.
I stopped by Caffe Umbria at 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning and the cafe was completely empty. They have a pretty extensive drinks menu here, but I ultimately picked up their limoncello cold brew coffee. Offered in one size only for $6.75, it's not a cheap drink. Since cold brew doesn't require an espresso shot, is prepared in advance and just stored in a chilled pitcher, it only took 30 seconds before I received my drink. The taste of the limoncello cold brew coffee definitely caught me off-guard. I was expecting something sweet and fizzy, but instead, I got something very coffee-forward with a hint of limoncello. Not a bad thing at all, since I generally prefer drinks that contain little to not sweetness. This cold brew would definitely be the ideal refreshing drink on a hot summer day in Portland. Service was fast and friendly. Food is available in the pastry case as well. I wouldn't mind stopping by again to try out another one of their seasonal drinks. read more
I watched part of the World Cup series here as there was a tv located inside the cafe. Lots of seating available. I ordered an oatmilk latte. I swear the lattes used to come with a piece of chocolate but not anymore perhaps. The shared WiFi is a bit laggy and it's a bit noisy for work, but I see this cafe as a nice spot to chat with people as there is outside seats available. read more
Had a $10 gift card so I came here. Absolutely did not expect the gift card not to cover a microwave BEC sandwich but sure enough it did not. $11 for a premade microwaved bacon egg and cheese sandwich is insulting. None of the food was labeled as to what it is either so I had to make the employee rattle off half the display case to even figure out what it was. Even one of the employees who was new didn't know what half the items were and had to ask someone for help. At least the service was friendly and employees were nice. You can get a fresh made similar sandwich for cheaper at any local place so I'll be sticking to those spots in the future and not giving my money to these ripoff artists. No wonder they have a bunch of locations the profit margins must be good with what they charge read more

Corner coffee shop in downtown. They have vegetarian breakfast sandwiches and ones available with meat! Lots of bakery items and standard drink menus! Very busy inside, very clean and almost every table was taken! I didn't wait long for my sandwich to be warmed up. The barista was nice and had et me know I could sit and they will bring my Togo order to me. Overall, great place for meetings or quick coffee and bite! read more
Caffe Umbria is the perfect spot to grab coffee and a bite when you're on the go. The food is good, and fresh and their coffee might hands down be my favorite in the Portland Area. I've always received good service when I've came in, and the location is very convenient. As someone who likes to people watch, I always opt to cozy up and sit outside. This is a cute little spot to check out if you're in the area! read more

Nice spot to while away a couple of hours sitting outside and people watching in downtown Portland. Staff is very nice. I ordered a cold brew and it came in a lovely glass and with a small but delicious dark chocolate. I enjoyed the coffee drink thoroughly and shared my tiny chocolate with my companion. read more

Beautiful coffee shop in downtown PDX adjacent to a boutique hotel with lots of treat to choose from. read more
The best coffee in Portland, hands down! The intoxicating scent hits you the moment you enter the coffee shop and immediately warms all of my senses. All of their drinks are stellar; the cappuccino has the perfect amount of foam; the mocha is well balanced with hints of chocolate that don't overwhelm; and my regular, the Americano is rich and smooth. If I lived in this neighborhood, I'd be here all of the time! While you can't sit inside during these Covid days, there are several sets of tables and chairs outside to park yourself while you enjoy your tasty beverage over conversation and great people watching. We stopped in the other day opting for coffee and a pastry rather than a proper lunch. Sounds reasonable, right? My Americano and pecan bun were the perfect combo! And sitting outside with a friend the most welcomed sense of normalcy in these isolating times. Baristas are friendly, always serving with a smile that you can see even though they are wearing masks. Highly recommend! read more
Why did it take the bean so long to do its homework? Because it was procaffeinating. And Procaffeniate you should when the Coffee is this good ! Caffè Umbria`s roasting go back to the 1940's, when Ornello Bizzarri built his roastery in Perugia, Italy and I know this tid-bit only because I genuinely love their coffee and feel that this place gives an authentic Italian experience with their espresso based drinks . Located in the heart of the Pearl District, this is an ideal spot to spend some time people watching , just sitting by a book or hanging out with a friend or two. The café is spacious ,well-lit and has lots of seating both indoor and outdoors. I am a fan of the Gusto Crema and Bizzarri blend , as they make for really good drip as well espresso drinks(Cappuccino ,macchiato, caffè latte) . They also have a lot of pastries ,sandwiches ,pasta ,soups and other baked goods , along with wine and beer . Service is friendly and fast . read more

Located in Downtown Portland, I believe in the Pearl District right on a corner street. Cute little spot for a coffee, to study, or meet up with friends. I walked by on a Sunday morning and grabbed a caramel macchiato. They had food options both dining and take out. Huge windows to people watch and some outdoor seating areas. Service was quick, looked like there were plenty of spots to for plugs and amongst all of the coffee places in Portland, more local that you could just pick something up without waiting a while. read more

I went to Caffe Umbria to kill some time, and only chose it based off the proximity to another store. I'd rate this place a 3.5, rather than 4 stars. I think our order came out pretty quickly. We got an iced tea, matcha latte, and an almond croissant. The iced tea was mostly a cup of ice. I think it would have been fine on a hot day since the ice would melt, but on a rainy day, not so much. This may also be a Portland thing, but it seems like most if not all matcha lattes here are pre-sweetened. I think pre-sweetened matcha is an abomination, but I'm not letting that affect my rating because it seems like the norm here. It wasn't bad, but my first sip was one of those moments where you expect to have something not sweet, and your taste buds get hit with sweetness. I would have asked to see if they had an unsweetened version, but didn't think to ask. The almond croissant was the stand out here, and I really enjoyed it. There was nothing really wrong about the place, and I'd be willing to go back, I'd just choose different drinks. read more
