I'm happy to find this place! It definitely is a taste of Italy here locally. The portions are much larger but the quality is great, and everything I had tasted fresh.

I loved the inside seating area and the outside seating will be nice on warmer days. There is a walking bath along the Delaware that you can visit too! I hung out inside for about 2 hours while I enjoyed coffee and an amazing grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. It was soooo good. I wish they were open a little later since they do have food items, I feel like they would still do well. And maybe live music on certain nights to make staying open worth while? Definitely coming back soon to grab a bite!

I adored their original location, as it was super quaint, quirky and cozy. When they first moved to this new spot, it felt a bit more clinical and commercial but they've done a great job of personalizing it, and I'm happy they kept a lot of the original furniture. My favorite item on their menu is the Whitefish Toast -- it comes on a fresh, thick, hearty piece of seeded toast, and the whitefish salad is dressed with pickled carrots and micro greens. It's a pretty generous portion at a reasonable price. I also love their seasonal Campfire latte, which is a rich, creamy delight with a touch of sweetness. On this visit, they had run out of the marshmallow topping but they kindly offered a partial refund to make up for it. The only downside is that this place gets packed early; by 8:45am, the only seat available was in the window. People seem to post up for the day with their laptops, and while everyone loves a good coffee shop work sesh, it seems ownership may need to institute a time limit so others can enjoy the atmosphere as well. If you're dreaming of stellar coffee, tasty locally-sourced food, and nearby access to the river, this place answers all your prayers.

They have a large parking lot and cute outdoor seating with umbrellas which I will definitely use during my next visit. Walking in the smell of heaven just slapped me in my face and I was transported back in time to what I say was a perfect little bakery .... every where you turned there was a new and exciting piece of deliciousness to drool over. They offered free chocolate cherry butter cookies which were divine!!!!! I didn't purchase any because my focus was on the cake (& on the donuts and dog treats that mysteriously were in my hands when I left lol). There were so many options for cake that in order to wind my decision down I asked the employee what their top cakes were and based on his reply I decided to go with the Strawberry Shortcake ... which was hands down the best I've ever had! It had those delightful "crunchies" the Good Humor strawberry shortcake ice cream bars have which made the cake out of this world! The donuts were massive and so fun! Unique options like the fruity pebbles and froot loops donuts made everyone in the office smile. I could go on and on but since I'll be back and back and back again I can save the rave for future visits. Oh and the employee .... AMAZING!!!! He was so patient and helpful and friendly. All in all a 5 star experience.

I loved all the vintage photos of the borough they had up and the original drugstore woodwork on the walls. The guy who helped me was friendly and patient. He loved talking shop. Although he tried to talk me into having their "Slack Attack" sandwich - pork roll, bacon, sausage, ham & egg with choice of cheese and bread (good lord that's a lot of meat!!), I settled for a sausage, egg and cheese on a pumpernickel bagel. Their bagels are baked and flash frozen by Pretzelworks off Oxford Ave in Philly. The sandwich was a good size and had good flavors (they forgot my hot sauce request) and a light kick from the sausage patty. The bagel had typical rye pumpernickel flavor, and a balanced portion of cheese, egg and meat. If you like a bagel that's dense with a bit of a chewiness you'll enjoy theirs. I think they wanted around $6.50 to $7.00 for the sandwich which was fair. I didn't try the coffee, but it smelled good. I'd definitely return if I'm in the area and when it's warmer! Thanks guys!

Now adding to the enjoyment is The Bagel Joint housed in what used to be the old pharmacy and thereafter sewing shop at #257. Most of the original woodwork and medicinal draws are still there. A few days after the snow of the decade the drifts and plowed piles of graying white made parking problematic, but I managed to back into a shallow spot right across the street. Walking in, the morning sun through the large windows made the room bright and cheery. Mike was behind the counter and greeted me heartily. He let me know that there was a special breakfast deal - meat, egg and cheese of choice, plus tater tots for the price of the sandwich alone. I couldn't resist. Cooper Sharp Cheddar, please, on Onion Bagel. To go. It was all still warm when I reached the office; so I settled in at my desk to chow down before getting to work. It was all very good and filled me quickly. The tots were more than I could finish. The transport had taken the crispness from the bagel and taters, but the flavor was there. Given my self imposed delay in eating right from the grill, I can't be sure that the bagels went though the boil/bake cycle, although I read in another review that they were produced offsite and flash frozen, rather than made onsite. I will leave that discovery to someone else. For me, I was satisfied with my breakfast and would return when time and circumstance permit. 4 Bristol charm Stars for The Bagel Joint.

So much so that, I suppose, some of the teenaged employees are, Idk, leaving the acai out for too long or something, and I've actually been made physically ill from other acai shops.. I'm proud to say Playa Bowls has never done that to me. And this Playa has always gotten my annoying custom order exactly right. I add a lot of toppings, get a mixed base, so I know it's a pain, but it comes out perfect every time. And unlike some other places, their mango is always sweet and the chunks are never too gigantic to chew. Both times the staff is cleaning and packing up, seem rushed and unpleasant as if they are annoyed I decided to come in at this time. Most likely they are trying to get ahead of things so at 9 they can leave. I understand that, however, if the store closes at 9 customers should be able to get items until at least 15 mins prior. The last time they actually said they could not give me anything because the acai was too hard. Tonight I arrived approx 8:20 and after my bowl was made the staff member gave me my bowl and said sorry we are out of honey. I find that hard to believe. The store opens tomorrow morning and honey will be needed for orders. My guess is it was already put away and she didn't feel like getting it out again. Very disappointing and unprofessional. The bowls are not the same, in my opinion, without honey. Please educate staff on customer service and the time they can clean/pack up, not make orders. If orders are limited after 8:15 please post that so customers are aware to arrive before that time or they risk not getting what they want. Thank you
