The nearby car park gives 1 hour free parking so it's easy to pop by for brunch or lunch. It's a lovely view of the city scape and boats in the harbour and you can enjoy your breakfast up on the deck of the converted waiting hall / shipping container, or on a lounge by the water. This time we opted for the couches and made friends with a nearby diners French bulldog. It's certainly a dog friendly spot. You can also sit inside if the weather isn't suitable with beautiful styling, nautically themed with blue striped cushions, decorative ropes and anchors. We loved this place last time, so we were keen to try their new menu. The menu has a more varied amount of choices at brunch. There's sweets, salads and some regular and ever popular choices. The mozzarella with avo, perfectly place on sourdough with greens and pomegranates, heirloom tomatoes and and a soft poached egg was beautiful. The roast pumpkin salad with grains, Persian feta, heirloom salad, avocado, confit onion, Pepita dukkah and herbs is the kind of dish I'd enjoy every day. Super healthy and refreshing and the pumpkin was perfectly cooked. For a sweet finish, we really liked the poached pear on brioche, toast with salted caramel, passionfruit cream, candied pistachio and lemon zest. We imagine this will be a very popular menu item.

OMG Am I really the first to be reviewing this place? Good lord! Why!????…read more Look here's the scoop:- Cafe BIrkenhead as a name opened (if memory serves) in 1996 or 1997. It won accolade after accolade for sensational food, with a seasonal menu (yeah they changed it every season) and million dollar waterfront views of the harbour, right across to North Sydney (you could see the brown block of RNS in the distance), but with magnificent Cockatoo Island in the foreground. I adored this place. Then it changed hands and everything went a little "cheaper".. same type of food, but instead of delicate obviously fresh whiting fillets for "fish and chips" something frozen and re-fried was slathered on top of a pile of greasy chips. Then Birkenhead point changed. Cafe Birkenehead had to move, and it now has.. a-hundred-thousand dollar views of... other peoples apartments in Balmain, across sparce water filled with a marina, with little traffic. Worst, the layout of the new place is so wide that the views aren't that great from the ample couch seating at the entrace side. Too many staff now dominate the floor, and I don't think any of them know what they are doing, at least none of them knew enough to take our order in a timely manner (the first time we returned) or to serve it in a timely manner (the second time; yes I had to ask for the food to be brought out) Who eats polenta chips? Honestly? they are greasy and disgusting, and frankly sound like a way of using up left-over polenta carried over from one of the other restaurants owned by this multi-congolomerate restaurant chain (Blackbird at Darling Harbour have you mended your broken wing yet?!). Why do I mention these polenta so-called "chips"? Well, because they are absolutely ubiquitous on the fabric covered menu. Everywhere. The schnitzel was generous, and lovely, if you discount the mushroom sauce which was obviously made with that "sauce base" you can buy in a beer bottle (look for it at Coles) and the fish was actually quite well cooked although its en-crustment of chickpea neither holds up to that wonderful crunch I expect from deep fried fish, nor to taste, as anything remotely pulse like in the batter was lost amidst the staple batter ingredients. Food that arrived late, food that pretentiously apes at classy bistro food combined with late, un-interested and un-caring overall service, ritzy "look there's fire!!" decorations, fancy exposed beams and air-vents (that's Birkenehead Point's signature look).. Does this sentence make sense? No? neither does "Cafe" Birkenhead. My memories are of a better place. Sorry, cafe birkenehead, keep trying. I'll review this again no doubt in the coming months because I am a sucker for punishment.

Three Rosettas has been about for a while, and I am ashamed (blushingly, devastatingly, tourettes-tick inducing shame) SHAME! SHAMEANDY! to say that I have only just discovered this spacious, well lit, well appointed, jovial and SHAMEANDY! fun, crisp cafe. (SHAMEANDY!) (apologies to any tourettes sufferers I shouldn't make light) The coffee is lovingly prepared, and expertly delivered. I've had the lasagna here, and it is a-w-e-s-o-m-e. Simple, elegant, and oh so tasty, with pork and veal (tastes that way!) slathered in between layers of béchamel, pasta sheets, and the most heavenly Grana Padano I've had in quite a while - a generous serving of cheese too. I guess you could say this lasagna has the perfect, extravagant cheese to filling ratio. YUM. The staff are awesome, and the experience itself lends me to suggest that in all of Drummoyne there is not a more cliqued, switched on bunch of employees in a business. They bat off each other, they banter with the customers, they try to provide recommendations (they failed me on this account but whats to forgive?) Seriously, you go here just to be smiled at, to be treated like royalty, and because you know you're going to get trouble free service culminating in delicious heavenly coffee and food. And it's cheap as chips too. This place absolutely rocks, and it rocks hard! I dare anyone to find a better cafe in the inner west - truly. I dare you. Find me another cafe that provides such a wonderful, clean, hospitable environment that also serves outstanding food and drink. You simply won't find it. The real stand out moment is at the end when I realised that everyone who had walked in was greeted by name by the staff. There are regulars galore here, and to me that sums up the value of Three Rosettas. Loyalty amongst diners is fickle, and these lucky cafe proprietors have cornered their market so well that everyone comes back. Salute!

A crowd outside the place consisted of many eager to get their hands on delicious foods everybody raves about. We weren't sure where to tell them our names to put us on the list of people waiting for a table, so we ended up in the "to go" line until we grabbed a waitress to do so. There were already people behind us in line that grabbed that waitress ahead of us, which was a little annoying, but the wait wasn't too long. I wish they had a better system for dropping names for people who want to dine in. Anywho, once we were seated, we were able to order fairly quickly, but our drinks were pretty slow to come out- essentially our food came out at the same time as our coffees. The Arabian eggs I had and the big breakfast my husband had were both delicious; no complaints there. The chili peppers in the Arabian eggs were impressively spicy, which ngl is hard to get me to say as a Korean. Staff were nice, but I wish it was a bit more organized in terms of ordering/giving our names. Two different girls asked us for our drink orders, and I saw the girls touch dirty dishes/napkins and clear them in the kitchen and then come and deliver foods and coffee without washing hands... a little upsetting to see. Overall, great food and coffee, but disappointed by staff and organization. I'd come back, but probably not the first place I'd suggest for a weekend brunch.

Housed in what was meant to be a hotel back in the day, this cafe is bustling and I'm told by my local living friend, often lines out the door on weekends. When we arrived there was no wait and we were seated straight away. The staff were friendly and polite. It's a smaller space but they make the most of it with a home-y interior. It's warm, inviting and too easy to spend a lazy afternoon here. There's an all-day breakfast menu with all the usual suspects and some stand outs like the lamb bruschetta. I was lucky enough to sample this from one of our lunch party and would definitely order should I return. On this occasion, I ordered the lamb kofta special with natural yogurt, quinoa and coriander. It was a suitably filling and soul hugging meal of comfort and everything was balanced to perfection. The coffee was strong and easily drinkable. There's a range of gluten free cakes should you not be feeling like lunch and most of the menu items can be made gluten free. The kitchen here may be small but from our experience it's certainly not limiting what they're serving!
