You can taste that the ravioli are frozen, they even have a deep freeze in the dining area. The waitstaff was excellent though.

I've lived in the BCS area for almost 20 years, and last night was the first time my husband and I visited Caffe' Capri. I hope we just caught them on an off night since they were preparing for a banquet upstairs, but I unfortunately was not impressed. I had the pesto ravioli with chicken. It was very bland and the chicken was dry. My husband had the baked penne. His had flavor, but the bite I tried was really greasy. The mozzarella garlic bread lacked garlic, and was not worth the price since you are given basically the same thing, minus the cheese, for free. The cannoli was cloyingly sweet. The tiramisu felt half frozen, and was very dense. It's sad that the only thing I enjoyed was the free bread with balsamic vinegar and oil. Our waiter was nice, and boxed up all of our leftovers, and I went home hungry. read more

I've been going to Cafe Capri for a couple of years now. The food is not only good but incredibly consistent in its high quality. The staff is always pleasant to say the least. Had dinner with a buddy tonight, and it was about as good as you can get in Bryan/ College Station! The wine I ordered was out of stock, but an excellent replacement was suggested by the very competent waiter. The only thing preventing 5 stars was the calamari, they were small and overly breaded/ fried. The place is small but very nice, definitely not a run of the mill chain. I find the owner very friendly. I find it impressive that staff have worked there several years. The food is a step above Olive Garden or Carino's but every plate is at least a couple of dollars cheaper at Capri. We went here for Valentine's day so mind you I knew it was going to be crowded. The location was cool, but the noise level was just shy of unbearable. I am sure that on regular nights it wasn't as loud. The lasagna was not my favorite, however the cajun pasta was fabulous. It had a robust flavor that was so good. Don't come in on a weekend and especially when the hostess by the name of Chloe is working. Walked in and asked for three and she said she would let us know when it was ready, never said a wait time and walked off. Some more people walk in and one of the waitresses told them they could eat at the bar after talking with Chloe. Three more people walk in and are not told a wait time at all and when asked she walks off again behind the bar. One party of three walked up to her and after asking was told a 45 minute wait after being there 15 minutes and not being able to get an answer from her. I walk up and ask and she said one table is ahead of us after waiting 30 minutes. Asked Chloe okay so that should be about 10-15. Nope another 30 minutes. Either this child doesn't know how to host and handle wait times or she just doesn't care. When politely telling miss Chloe that maybe she should let parties know a wait time when they walked in instead of walking off when asked she smacked her gum and looked at me and said yyyyaaaahhhhh. Not once did she say anyone could sit at the bar and not once did she tel multiple parties when they walked in how long the wait would be, especially when prompted. read more

This is definitely, without-a-doubt my FAVORITE restaurant in College Station!! I'd give it five stars and two very enthusiastic thumbs up! This is my favorite place to take out-of-towners to, and it quickly becomes a must-have anytime they are in the area. I would recommend the Key West pasta with a lime-caesar salad...I don't know what they do to the caesar salad dressing, but it's amazing! They make their own desserts/cheesecakes so you have to ask what the special is for that nigh, but I would highly recommend you try the dulce de leche cheesecake...yuuumm!! I can not stress how outstanding this place is. From the first time I came here my freshman year of college (4 yrs ago), I have been addicted. First, the atmosphere is a dimly lit, small, cozy Italian restaurant in downtown Bryan. It has a wine bar that is not too overly priced. Next, the food is outstanding. My favorite is the lasagna. If you like ricotta cheese, you will love this. It has about an inch of ricotta cheese smeared in the center layer of noodles. I honestly will have to say that it is the best lasagna I have ever had in my life (my roommate also agrees with this). The only down side to this place is the wait. Caffe Capri was a very nice experience. I agree with the hype comment mentioned above. When it comes down to it, everyone's tastes are unique. If you want a "cool Italian" restaurant, then this is the place. If you want authentic, one of a kind... this probably isn't it. The ambiance of the place is great and I love supporting local businesses. I personally had the chicken parmigiana which wasn't bad. The chicken might have been having a bad day. I was told that everything was going to be homemade. This is what I'm used to and was disappointed when just the meatball and red sauce where homemade. My expectations are always high as my family makes excellent homemade Italian food. My dads side of the family is Italian. Anyways the meatballs where good, the red sauce was bad; flavor was almost not there, it needed GARLIC, oregano, basil, some sage, onions....... They need to have an option for a meat red sauce. One of the things I look forward to is when your done and you get to soak up the red sauce with good homemade bread. When I was done with the spaghetti I didn't wanted to soak up the remaining red sauce. The bread was okay at best. My date did enjoy hers, she had the lobster dish. I will give them another chance and try something else. Just don't go with really high hopes if you are used to lots of flavor, spice and homemade pasta. read more

My husband and I had not been to Caffe Capri in 6 years. I would really love for last night to be a fluke. Our server was terrible...they ran out of one of the ingredients necessary for my husbands meal (someone did run to wal-mart and pick up said ingredient)...ran out of bread...we were never offered a refill on any drinks, wine or water and they were not crazy busy. I would completely forgive most of those if the line was out the door to get in the place. The meal I ordered is my favorite from Caffe Capri, some of the ingredients have been replaced with imitation and my pasta was gummy at best. My husbands was good but soupy for something that should be baked and have a beautiful thick sauce thats just not ok. The ingredient from wal-mart was inferior and not cooked. He described it best when he said pizza hut makes this and it tastes pretty similar. We were very sad upon leaving. I find myself missing Caffe Capri since I moved to Dallas over a year ago. It's a great gem hidden in the midst of Downtown Bryan. My husband and I used this as our go-to date night when we were at A&M a few years ago. I had my graduation party here in 2011 and then we had our rehearsal dinner here last month in the same room upstairs (ask about private parties!) This is the best little Italian Café in town. His staff are always happy and helpful. And if you have an issue they will fix it. Their meatballs are so huge and great. I discovered this place back in the early 2000s while I was still a student and have enjoyed stopping in for dinner when I'm back in town. I've always thought their food was really good but my most recent visit it was...okay. Nothing was bad but it wasn't the standout experience I remember from previous visits. I got the cajun tortelloni, a house special, and my husband got the chicken parm, both standards I'd expect to showcase the fresh ingredients and flavors they're known for. Caffe Capri is so good! It's great American-Italian food at a fair price. Their bread is fantastic, which is the first sign of a great Italian place. I've never had to wait to be seated, even on First Friday, although it does get crowded around peak times and it's a pretty small restaurant. I've eaten at Café Capri many times since it opened and watched the value slowly decline. First, the rather limited menu has essentially not changed in 20 years. The ambiance is still nice and the pre-meal bread and olive oil is thankfully still there. The food is good, but the portions are smaller, meat scarcer and the once-included salad and sides, now add-ons. All for higher prices. OK, this is happening everywhere, but that doesn't make it right. My main complaint was the noise. We were in a booth near the back and were literally screaming at each other to be heard over a large group seated in the middle of the restaurant. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. read more

I appreciate the "Mom and Pop" type restaurants as they tend to be of higher quality and I enjoy supporting them. My friend and I had been hearing ads for Cafe Capri on the radio and how it was voted best of the Brazos valley. You can imagine how surprised we were when the food arrived and it was utterly disappointing and sub par. I ordered the pasta with tomato, pesto and garlic sauce. First of all there was no hint of pesto anywhere in the sauce and it was a basic marinara sauce that would be comparable to a cheap jar sauce. My pasta was not homemade by any means. I'm not sure if they say the pasta is made in house but mine certainly wasn't. My friend ordered the lasagna and received about 3 lbs of ricotta cheese. It was so much she was scraping it off by the spoonful because it made the dish so unbalanced and unappetizing. I was baffled and surprised that pretty much every dish on the menu was made with a cream sauce. I would of liked to have seen some variety rather than everything being slathered in a heavy fattening cream sauce. I was very disappointed with their decor as well. We sat at a table right up front and the chairs were old and sticky and had been recovered by an amateur. I was greatly disappointed by the lack of attention to detail and the run of the mill sub par italian food. I would not recommend Cafe Capri to anyone. read more

I had the chicken parmigiana and I would recommend it! Parmigiana is usually a shallow piece of chicken, but not theirs. It is a juicy, thicker chicken breast so that the breading is not overwhelming. The sauce is rich without being too heavy (probably because it isn't smothered with it), Their Cesar salad has an added zesty, lemony flavor that I really enjoyed especially before having the tomato based sauces in my entree. Their Tiramisu is a two layer cake and the sauce is soaked in properly, but not drenched. The ice tea is just the way this Texan likes it...not too dark with just the right amount of ice. Oh, and the bread is fresh with a lovely vinegary oil dipping sauce. My daughter had one of their specialty dishes entitled Tortellini Alla Capri and she said, " It was the perfect blend of flavorings without being too heavy with generous amounts of crab." read more

Food this good with portions this generous would cost a fortune somewhere else. My boyfriend and I ordered a ton of food, so here's a rundown. The calamari was crispy and flavorful. The caesar salad was coated in a lemon-based dressing that was surprising but delicious. The garlic bread is not something I would order again; it was yummy but didn't actually taste like garlic. The chicken parm was fried to perfection in a flour-coating, and the gouda creamy marinara is my all-time favorite sauce. The cheesecake was frozen in the center, so I was a bit disappointed about that, but the tiramisu tasted like it was from a sophisticated, up-scale bakery. I can't wait to go back! read more

The lasagna that my husband ordered was so watery it had absolutely no taste. The pesto ravioli that I had was served cold and didn't taste fresh, and the tiramisu had no flavour.
