This cafeteria gets an 'A' in food flavor, quality, and quantity. Arroz con gandules, carne guisada, tostones straight out of the fryer, and a tall cup of freshly squeezed orange juice. The rice was full of spices and flavor that really had a nice kick to it, same with the meat and the vegetables it was cooked with. The tostones, albeit small, were really delicious. I was served a plentiful amount and felt fully satisfied.
The service itself was really nice. I felt I was getting that personal attention from the server. He was informative and really gave me that western hospitality that I always enjoy. You can either order from the menu or you can order up front from the food specials or foods of the day. My big surprise was that they had freshly squeezed local orange juice. That made my day.
This place would have gotten a higher rating based on those two things, but the problem lies with the pricing and the establishment itself. The pricing is not that bad, really. I paid about 8 dollars for my food but, when comparing it to other places around, it's a little higher. I am used to cheap food from other places around, given I receive student discounts. They have a student discount, but it did not do much for me. The menu we were given to glance was a bit sticky, and the establishment itself did not look spot on clean. The tables were wobbly, which is something I despise, and, when we first arrived, there was cargo covering half of the entrance. That was not too visually appealing to me. The food was great, and the people were really nice. The pricing and the restaurant itself, not so much. Give it a try for yourself. read more
