The staff is fantastic, and their gluten-free options had me coming back every morning.

I came here on a whim while I was waiting for my car to be fixed. What a lovely place to just find…read more This is a multi level, multi room cafe. Yes it sounds strange, but imagine an old two story house turned into a cafe. The first floor is the cafe as seen from the street plus a second room. The upstairs is a room with a big table that could be used for book club meeting and a kids play room. Since I went there on a Thursday around 11 the kids had a loud rowdy command over the second floor. The food: great choices of both pastries and salads. I had the chickens club sandwich with chips, while the bf had a breakfast egg dish. But let me backtrack to my chips - absolutely delicious, like unexpectedly that a cafe would have some of the best chips I've had. The other food was great as well. Luscious cafe left a very nice cozy feeling with me. I would definitely go back.

If you blinked as you went past this place, it's quite likely that you'd miss it. It is a narrow…read morecafe....but possesses some length; hence backroom seating as well as an upstairs area affords Luscious Cafe quite a "spacious" feel. And within 10 minutes of my arrival, the space & staff were sorely tested as a late lunch rush developed. I ordered the Luscious Mince on Toast with a bottled juice & a large mocha (of course) for later. My mince on toast duly arrived with a poached egg perched precariously atop. The egg looked a tad forlorn & was slightly over cooked; the mince however was tasty & plentiful. Delish. I ordered a peach & passionfruit slice to go with my mocha - both were divine. Although not exactly Luscious- I would give this cafe 3/5 for quality of food, but 5/5 for the lovely staff who held themselves with aplomb during the afternoon rush which I'm sure must happen every Sunday. People know where to go to find good food, great coffee & awesome service. I'll return here...soon!

It was open at the time I was in the area and it did look inviting. I perused the menu and decided to give it a try. Walking in I saw the old-fashioned furnishings, metal chairs, display cases, wall shelves, big bar in the middle all in a long and narrow room. Yessss, this looks lie something out of the 50s and I like it. After a long hard look at the menu I opted for the Salami platter... Strangely enough there wasn't salami, but more like a smoked ham, prosciutto like meat. It tasted great, so what's in a name. Delicious heirloom tomatoes, capers, salami impersonator, cream cheese, capers, pickles and your choice of bread. I had chosen crumpets and regretted that . Not because they weren't delicious, because they were so yummy, but they were also so buttery that I couldn't get the cream cheese to stick and everything I tried to put on the crumpet just slid right off them. I got the bottomless cup of coffee and I must say, this is really good coffee and the refills kept coming also. I love the atmosphere in here and there are so many great choices on the menu. If I ever come back tot Auckland, I will definitely stop by this place again.

It's a popular place and they were crowded but we didn't have to wait for a table. There was plenty of food for each order. My wife had a street dog and fries and I had a Ruben. They were pretty decent. I wasn't as happy with the fries. They were like the bottom of a pile and mostly little pieces with very few full length slices. Prices were extremely reasonable. I would definitely eat there again.

Took 40 minutes to get our order, then ended up leaving half of it on the plate ..... what did get eaten was more out of curiosity as we tried to work out WTF was going on on that plate. We came for brunch, but they had set times for breakfast and lunch, with the lunch menu beginning at 1130. By the time we sat down and read the menu it was just turned 1130, so we asked to order from the lunch menu, but was informed that we would have to wait an extra time then people ordering breakfast since the kitchen hadn't set up for lunch. So we all had no choice but to order from the breakfast menu. When we ordered, two of the menu items we wanted had already run out, which is something you dont want to hear. The mushrooms on toast, was fairly disappointing, they weren't creamy, nor cooked long enough. My plate also came out with a dirty smear on the side. The berry smoothie I ordered I couldn't finish. The consistency and flavour had totally missed the mark. I tried the hollandaise sauce from one of the dishes, and there was far too much acid. Everything was sad looking and I don't think there was a lot of taste testing from the kitchen before the dishes were sent out. Components were also missing, such as the spinach from the eggs bene and the broad beans from the mushrooms on toast. At the end of it all we did mention all these problems to the manager and he explained that there had been a menu issue. He mentioned that the kitchen was poorly organised due to the change that was supposedly starting the following day. He happily discounted all of our food and apologised. I am happy that he accepted our feedback and in saying that hopefully the cafe can only improve from here. However with all the strong competition in Auckland and new eateries opening up so frequently there is no room for errors. People will rule you out after their first experience and go to a place that gives great food and service straight off the bat.
