Located right at the base of Foster City's Metro Center is Cafe Savini, where I'm sure a lot of tech and fintech workers go for lunch. I think they cater to neighboring workplaces as well, because their daily specials have a catered food vibe. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and an occupied birdcage inside. The walk to Cafe Savini from the Metro Center's parking lot is very peaceful, and you can even picnic in solace on the random park tables if you want some peace and quiet to yourself. This cafe offers both breakfast and lunch, but also sporadic delicious items like pasta, various protein and starch plates, specials like mujadara (which is healthy, flavorful, delicious, and a textural treat), alongside their regular sandwich and salads. Some plates come with a side salad and bread which taste very fresh; I love their homemade dressing, which tastes like some type of bright and citrus-based subtle vinaigrette. Their tomato-based pastas could use thicker sauce, but I loved their creamy pesto pasta special. You can also order online so takeout is very convenient and quick.

Spinach Salad Lunch

This place is a nice lunch spot near my work place. It was initially hard to find a spot to park but we parked in public/ visitor parking in tower building. The place overlooks a pretty courtyard and had outdoor tables to sit and eat. The sandwich and salad combo I ordered was good- spinach salad and caprese sandwich. The sandwich was good but just dry. I plan to try other options as well. One cute thing is the birds in the cage outside the cafe. Super cute!

8/17/23 I was off this day and Zach wanted to go out for lunch. We decided to try out Cafe Savini. You can find parking in the plaza across the street where Safeway is. It's definitely a convenient spot for lunch or a snack if you work in the nearby buildings. There's some indoor seating and there's a lot of outdoor seating. You could even get the food to go and eat lunch by the lagoon. You order and pay at the counter and then they will bring the food to your table. We got two items off the lunch special: 1. Meat lasagna (his) 2. Penne pasta (mine) Both dishes came out in 10 minutes and served with complimentary bread and salad. The food was overall healthy, but tasted bland. The pasta itself was cooked fine, but the taste just wasn't great. The salad was okay and I didn't eat the bread because it was too hard. Zach said that the meat lasagna was just alright. Besides ordering at the front and the food being brought to us, there wasn't any other interaction with the staff. The food was mediocre at best.

The lunch specials- chicken gyro with side salad, chicken penne pasta with side salad , and curry rice with beef.

Self service . Decent food. Healthy side salad portions . Reasonable prices and lovely outdoor seating with a view of the parks. Try the lunch specials ! They also have fresh squeezed carrot and orange juices. Walking distance from many Foster city offices to meet the lunch break crowd!

They have adorable pet birds within the store!

Due to the rainstorm, I didn't want to go very far for food and opted for the nearby cafe. The Café was open and pretty much empty (understandable because I'm sure most people were working from home instead of trying to drive into work). I ordered the croissant and a banana nut muffin. The muffin, you can request to be warmed which I opted for. The egg, cheese, and bacon croissant was delicious, and I would order again. But I am curious about the other items on their menu, especially when it comes to the latter half of the day. There was a lasagne on there that I'm super curious about.

Salmon Risotto

My favorite place in Foster City by far! Its a quick walk from my office and a nice place as most of the seats are outside. The salmon risotto comes with a salad and a piece of whole bread. To be honest, the salad is a bit generic but with the price it comes with, I cannot complain. Now comes the risotto. This risotto is out of this world. For $14, you have a big piece of seasoned salmon that has a perfect salt taste that reminds me of a tropical place. The risotto has a mushroomy taste that reminds me of a forest. Overall, I come back here every business trip. I will continue to come here for many years

A review long overdue! This used to be my go to for lunch pre-COVID as it is close to work. Went there today after a long time and was so good to see the staff again after a long time. I am sure their business was hurting as offices closed during COVID, but so glad they are still in business and warm and welcoming as ever! An awesome, family owned and operated cafe. Everyone here is so warm and friendly....amazing customer service. The cafe itself is clean and well organized - You can even view the kitchen from the order counter. They have both indoor and plenty of outdoor seating as well. About the food: Not sure it should be categorized as Italian cafe as they also have quite a few Mediterranean options on the menu. The best part is that their menu changes almost everyday. I have quite a few favorites to list...but the two must try items are Mujadara - available only on Thursdays and Fridays and the Moussaka - available only on Wednesdays! Portions are perfect and pricing is reasonable. MUJADARA: a rice and lentil dish with cucumber, tomatoes, and fried onion topping...so yum. Fresh, does not feel too heavy, and flavors are on point. I usually eat it with some hot sauce on the side for a little kick Comes with chicken or vegetarian option. I am a vegetarian so always get the vegetarian option, but my friends love the chicken Mujadara. MOUSSAKA: made with eggplant and cheese. Fresh again and well balanced flavors...Just the right amount of cheesy. Some of the dishes come with a side of salad and a slice of bread. Love these guys and wish them the very best. Hope they continue to thrive. Highly recommend this cute family owned cafe...that serves fresh, delicious food everyday with a smile!

Wonderful little hidden gem! Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. Pay attention to the specials. If you want to eat light there are salads, and there are also heavier dishes if you're hungrier. I know this place mostly caters to the nearby businesses, but if you're in Foster city, it's worth a visit.

Wonderful lunch spot with the nicest staff. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. They also have some birds to keep you entertained :)

Snow crab sandwich

Fantastic little cafe for lunch! They have a wonderful menu with healthy options and they're so quick to make the food. The line gets long at noon, but they move really quickly. There is indoor seating and outdoor. You can even call in your order to pick up. All of the staff except the woman that works the register is really friendly and customer oriented. The woman at the front register comes off rude and won't even hand you your receipt. She throws it down on the counter instead. Careful if you pay with credit card. She'll swipe the store copy before you fill out the tip/total. The snow crab sandwich is amazing. Order it if you get the chance.

I loved that they offer the option to do half and half craft curry pies because this is definitely one of those pizza places where it's hard to pick one. Order was ready right on time, picked it up hot and fresh. One of the things I appreciate the most about this chain is that they are veryyyy generous with the amount of chicken on their pizzas. Makes you feel like you're still hitting your protein goals while indulging a little! The desi garlic sticks are delicious and I order them every time! Half/half pizza we got tandoori chicken and butter chicken. I liked the tandoori chicken side a bit more because I'm a sucker for cilantro.

The Foster City location is pretty new and located in Alma Point at Foster Square. We placed an online order for pick-up and arrived around 6:30 p.m. The restaurant was practically empty except for two tables of two. There are a few tables for indoor dining, pretty spacious for a pizzeria. We got four large pizzas and 40 wings. This ended up being way too much food but pizza is great for leftovers! I would rate this as a slightly better than Round Table pizzeria. I like that there are unique combinations but the quality and taste are similar to RT pizza (taste somewhat like cardboard). For the wings, we tried the lemon pepper (not bad), tandoori (really good with a bit of kick) and achari (not bad). For the pizzas, you can select thick or thin crust. We got one thick and one thin: - Meat lover's - Aloo chaat - Chicken tikka - Butter chicken The best one was the butter chicken. The rest were average. At $40 for a large pizza, I'd prefer Slice House or Toto's instead.

La Ronda in San Mateo is a great find! The service was genuinely friendly and attentive from start…read moreto finish, and the menu is impressively diverse with something for everyone (though vegetarians may have fairly limited options). The restaurant was a little more than half full when we had dinner there on a Friday night and the ambiance is lively but not loud. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was delicious, with very generous portion sizes that left us so full (with leftovers to spare). The ceviches were bright, limey, and tart in the best way, the chicken wings were crispy and juicy, the papa rellena was especially interesting (almost like an inside-out, deep-fried baked potato) with olives and raisins that were a pleasant surprise, and the lomo saltado was as comforting and dependable as it usually is. To top it all off, they even offer Peruvian beers, which was the perfect way to wash everything down. The location is a little bit odd but easy enough to find and park (there is plenty of parking across the main street in front of the BevMo if there isn't any directly in front of the restaurant).

If this place was in the Mall it would dominate. This place is a couple blocks away, kind of hidden on a main row. Coworker got the Tallarin Salteado which was basically a steak spaghetti and she liked it a lot. They give you complimentary bread, just beware the green avocado one is spicy! It does NOT look spicy, but it is! I got the La Ronda Plate which had 3 items: combination plate of fried calamari, fish ceviche and seafood rice or seafood fried rice....everything was really good and fresh. It had flavor and really was cooked well, unlike the seafood and rice I had in Peru where my complaint was no flavor. Heck, go here and it will save you the plane fare! Got their Chicha Morada, pricey at $6.95 with purple corn pineapple & spices, I would probably not get this again because it was kind of like a bland drink to me...instead I would get their passionfruit drink next time. Both of us got their homemade flan which was a 5/5! Would definitely come back to try more dishes in the future.

The eggs on the Benedict were poached perfectly, which I very much appreciate. Not only were they poached perfectly, but the eggs themselves were beautiful. Very fresh with that vibrant bright marigold color. The hollandaise sauce was creamy and delectable. The breakfast burger was amazing! It comes served on Filone bread which I thought went perfect with the burger. This bread is similar to ciabatta. Crusty on the outside, with a good chew on the inside. Firm enough to handle all the contents of the burger, but soft and chewy on the inside. The meat itself, chuck and brisket, was sensational. I'm not the type of person to ever order a burger without cheese but this burger could've definitely stood alone. Melted Monterey Jack, thick slices of bacon, fresh slices of avocado, and a perfectly cooked runny egg were just added bonuses. There was something on this burger that had a slight sweetness. I don't know if it was the samurai sauce that they put on it or the bacon, but it was delicious. I love that. It came served with a light salad tossed in vinaigrette as well. Coffee was served beautifully with a nice frothy head. Service was excellent. Attentive without being overbearing. Our server, Da, was so sweet and made our experience even that much more wonderful. Can't wait to come back. My one gripe was the size of the potatoes that came served with the eggs Benedict and the burger. This is not a cheap place to eat. For two of us to have breakfast with one coffee and an iced tea is $60 before tip. Don't be so chinsy on the tater tots and French fries. 10 tater tots? Come on now. It's not caviar. It's potatoes. I don't need a mountain of them just a decent portion. I almost knocked off a star for that, but everything else, specifically the service, warrants the five stars. Thank you for a wonderful meal and for the great hospitality.

We were seated at our reservation time and the staff was attentive. My issue is that the food options are now very basic. Eggs with tater tots, grilled chicken sandwich with fries, etc. I enjoyed my sandwich but I could get it at any pub. The decor also didn't give off "farm house" ambience, and the indoor dining room was fairly chilly. Not a bad place to eat, but nothing worth going out of my way for (at least for brunch).
