This is a super cute cafe next to Harue. When you walk in, you're first struck by the high walls that are covered with shelves of books and vinyls. The cafe has a stage with drums, guitar, and baby grand piano. Although Cafe Rothem is owned by a local Reverend, there's nothing religious about the space, I never would have guessed if my husband didn't tell me. The background music was spot on with soft jazz(not elevator music) The cafe has open mic nights and some programming during the day for the community. Overall it was a really calming and soothing atmosphere The cafe serves the typical coffee drinks and snacks and sandwiches, but the stand out offerings are the nitro coffee, table side siphon coffee, smoothies, and korean fusion waffles. I had tea and a mango tango smoothie. OMG the smoothie was sooo good. It was refreshing with just the right of sweetness. I always worry when bananas are in smoothies, but it was the perfect amount ... ie not overpowering. I definitely want to come back to try the siphon coffee and a fusion waffle. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in the Atlanta area - since they have substantial food offerings, it's a great place to stay a while and get work done. It has such a cozy feel, like you're in a friend's living room, with tons of books and records on the shelves. They also host all sorts of local clubs. One evening when I was there a photography club had set up a little studio, so I got a free portrait of me and my dogs to take home ! Another evening when I was there a group was singing Christmas carols in Korean on the stage. Super charming place! read more

I never even heard of this place until my parents told me about it. They said they heard it on the Korean radio station, because they were advertising it. So anyways, this place is owned by a Christian pastor and his wife. I think it's sweet that both husband and wife work together in this cute little cafe. I'm sure you've read in other people's reviews that there's a grand piano, projection screen, electric guitar, and vinyls all around the room (lined up in book shelves). My dad was looking at the vinyls while my mom and I were trying to decide what to order. What we had for dessert that evening: 1 tiramisu ($4.75) 1 coffee ($1.99) 1 Green Plum Tea ($3.50) The tiramisu went well with the coffee my mom had ordered. I tasted her coffee and liked it! Normally, I don't like to drink plain black hot coffee.. but this coffee tasted wonderful~ My green plum tea tasted good, too, but my dad said it was too sweet and needed more water in it.. but I thought it was great! The green plum tea also had slices of plum in it! Delicious!! Cafe Rothem is a unique cafe because it truly encourages live performers including poets. They actually have a stage and great sound equipment that a lot of open mic. Venues lack. As soon as you walk in, you'll see that aesthetically it's been curated with music and books. Their cup rice is a new concept they released and you can get it with chicken or beef. I recommend the beef! It's a bit spicy but the kick is nice and it's a filling dish to enjoy while you're studying, getting work done, or enjoying a performance! I also tried their mango tango smoothie which I highly recommend! The cafe is owned by a family that's extremely kind and hard working. I have seen perfection and it is in this café! Cafe Rothem offers a warm and versatile environment to study, read, catch up with someone over a cup of coffee, really anything low-key with a reasonable priced menu. I was trying to find a coffeeshop to sit and study in and zoomed my way over to Rothem. It's located in a little plaza with other Eastern Asian stores. As soon as you step in, you're surrounded by walls filled with books and records. There's about 8 tables in the middle each with 4-6 seats, so it may get filled up during peak weekday or weekend hours. The food and drink menu is limited relative to Sweet Hut's or Quickly's, but the prices are fair with coffees about 50 cents cheaper than most other coffee shops. The owners are a lovely couple; the husband came over 2 hours into my studying session asking me how everything was and saying regular coffee has unlimited free refills! I tried the caramel macchiato ($3.95) which was fresh and hot and half a turkey sandwich with chips ($3.95) which came loaded with turkey and veggies. TLDR: Pros: unbelievably cozy, incredible hospitality, delicious and locally sourced coffee, and fair prices, great for studying Cons: limited food menu, coffeeshop was a bit hot temperature wise which was cozy in the beginning but got a little stuffy Support local coffeeshops and cafés! read more

Came here for their grand opening and it was pretty neat inside and had a very cozy feeling. Apparently it's normally a church. The food was pretty good and they had some interesting smoothie flavors. I had the green tea smoothie and the flavors didn't mesh too well or the fruits they chose for the others like mango kind of drowned out the other fruits. I went while they had Open Mic for artists to perform if they wanted to. I enjoyed listening to people, but it was a little too loud for my taste. I mean I enjoy music and I love going to concerts, but as a cafe this place was way too loud. My friends and I had to yell At the top of our lungs to talk and communicate. Also their tables are all big round ones so you'll be sitting with others, yay for meeting others, except it was so loud I didn't catch their names lol I'd check it out if you want to listen to some music and maybe grab something to eat and drink while doing so, but if you're going to catch up with friends or coming to study or chill then I'd go to Sweet Hut or Starbucks . read more

They even have a stage for bands to perform. The Owners are Super friendly and make you feel so Welcome. I really enjoyed a Cappuccino in a real mug and an apple pie pastry. The owner even gave me a sample of a waffle pastry they offer. The Coffee shop is super clean and definitely on my list of coffee shops to visit again in the near future. One of the best coffeeshop ambiances you can find in the greater Atlanta area. If you're a fan of music (especially classical and jazz), even better. Drinks and food are given care and attention so things may take a bit more time than say... a green themed coffeeshop. =P Went in today (Saturday) and 3 of the tables had ordered the Siphon. I really love this gem! It is located in the same strip as OhMy! so there is plenty of parking and it's easily accessible. Oh my the folks who own this place are absolute sweet hearts who really care about the community. They host all kinds of events catered toward engaging in dialogue with Asian Americans as well as celebrating the talent in their community. So awesome. The interior is fantastic. Cozy, warm and inviting. Tons of books and records and magazines and things in the bookshelves surrounding the place, lots of tables, a piano in middle of the room, and a stage. It is just wonderful and magical in there! I haven't explored their menu a whole bunch, but the offer the standard coffee/cafe type drink fare which have been, in my limited experience, tasty and well-priced. I just love coming here and being with people and attending the events. This is seriously such a fantastic spot, and should be better known! read more

It was empty coz i went early on a weekday but looks like weekends its a popular spot so don't go with your laptop during busy hours coz that'll just be rude for others that want to sit for 30 to an Hr socializing. I studied for 2.5 hrs but it was 11 Am on a Thursday. They have round tables with limited chairs per table so seating is limited. You can borrow 1 book @ a time for $20/ Year, purchase new & used Tshirts, cd's and some other nick nacks. They even have a rentable meeting room for $50/HR. This place is so great! I stumbled upon it by chance when I searched for coffee houses in Duluth. I was looking for a place to camp out for a few hours to do some work on my computer, and this place was so ideal. Inside, it's nice and warm with about 12 nice round dining tables (each seats 4). The one closest the front door and the one over by the sound booth are accessible to outlets. The staff was nice and friendly. I ordered a turkey sandwich and a mocha frappucino, but it came out as a hot coffee instead. I chalk it up to my lack of actually saying I wanted a frozen drink (and actually don't know if they sell them here, because it's one of those really serious coffee places!). Anyway, everything was delicious and the place (along with the lively jazz playing over the speakers) set the perfect tone for several hours of really productive work! Really liked this place after having lunch at their neighbor Harue. They have hundreds if not thousands of books (mostly Korean :( ) stacked as high as the ceiling. Overall a great environment to bring friends and have coffee or tea. In addition to the books, they seem to put on some local concerts here as they have a full stage with instruments/drums. The owner told us they offered fresh fruit smoothies that were also a hit. I didn't try them, instead opting with a hot latte and a butter cookie from their bakery stand. Both were done great and were a good treat to enjoy after lunch. Will have to come back again to try their smoothies. I did see they also offer nitro cold brew coffee. I'm a fan of cold brews so will definitely have to try that next time. In their bakery stand they also offered some kind of stuffed waffle that looked really good. Prices here are very reasonable - a hot latte plus the cookie came out to be less than $5. They don't have a minimum charge like most Asian cafes do (+1/2 star). read more
